This is an underrated film. It is not an oscar winner and does not pretend to be. Its a definitive guy flick, full of action, blood, and a lot of guts. Thomas Jane actually did a marvelous job capturing Frank Castle as a man who is tough as nails but still rich with vulnerability because of his past.

Bad Comic movie adaptation review Reasons: 1) Frank had two kids not one TWO

2) Frank Castle was NEVER a cop, he was a retired marine

3) Frank Castle Never lived in Miami, he lived in New York

4) Only his wife and two kids died not his WHOLE family

still a good movie but thats why it didnt get good reviews, it just went on its own tangent with the story. Hope that helps.

This movie is a classic. consider it a cult hit. It still grossed 2 to 3 times its budget. not much but still considered a hit. But what it did for dvd sales (#1dvd, $115 million)...now that was impressive and shows that a lot of people like the film, even if they didn't watch the movie in theaters.

@cwchow187 I thought it was a very good adaptation. Have you read the punisher story, "Welcome Home Frank." They based allot of the movie on that story. I thought Warzone was crappy, they should of kept the original director and Jane. I heard that both (literally) walked off the set of Warzone. and the whole movie had too be recast. In the video game, Saint's son lived, and was now Jigsaw. They should of went with that angle in the sequel. Oh well, nice too dream I suppose.

@Maiingan125 Maybe so, but IMHO, War Zone is actually closer to the essence of what the true comics Frank Castle is-- he doesn't waste time in complex plots like the Jane Punisher does in this movie (to completely humiliate Saint before outright destroying him) but has just one solution for any and ALL problems; firepower, and LOTS of it. No farting around, no bullshit, just straight to the point, overkill style-- THAT is the encapsulation of the comic book Punisher, to many.

@IndianaJoel93, B movies are cheap, low budget, and low quality. B movies does not necessarily mean straight to video. Bad B movie quality flicks are released by studios all the time. This was def a B movie and Travolta flicks suck.
