You have to control the sound...you just kind of bust out in the beginning of the song. It has to build. It has to be more delicate throughout. And more delicate movement.
Agreed with others here - unnecessary belting (even if nicely done) and pop influenced vocal work (slides and whatnot). Otherwise, nicely done! Was the forceful teasing nature of Dot the director's suggestion? Not caring for that. She may be quite the individual, but she's still proper. Like ziggy said, too much movement.
Overall though, this is not an easy piece by any means - well done. :) And hey, the criticism here... people simply see potential and want to put in their 2 cents to help.
it's not bad -- the belt is a little too forced in the upper register. Would prefer that you work in a little of your head voice, then the voice would be fantastic! Still a nice quality, and to me (who loves this musical) gets the feeling across pretty well. I much prefer you to him! (he sounds little too country in spots)
Also, Dot seems to MOVE rather a lot, and seems rather young and skittish. Remember what she has learned from George...
In spite of what theatregirl1 says, the belt sounds ok from what I can tell - be careful of not hyperextending the neck to achieve it (visible on your side profile).
well i am a comedian, actor.singer, dancer writer. so i think i know what im saying, ive seen it all. im harsh, you do on the other hand have a nice stage presence. you move well. this is the biz we are in, like goldfish in a shark tank
I'd LOVE to know whos teaching you how to sing....because this was an AMAZING belt...not a poor attempt at one, maybe u should go back to music school? and it had SO much meaning, wht theatre have you done? ID love to know!
This musical is pure magic...I actually hear this song in my head when I'm standing there in Chicago and trying to take in the majesty of the painting...sure the Second Act has a few problems, but those all fall by the wayside as this scene unfolds and we begin that slow, beautiful Sondheim-led journey back to the blank canvass.
Beautiful presented here...thank you.
"Move on..." words that should guide so many of us who want to linger in the past.
Oh my...this song in this story is for me the emotional pinnacle of a journey Sondheim has taken us on...so beautifully acted and sung here...Thank you.
omg i saw this!!! this was by far the best production of Sunday in the Park with George i've ever seen! thanks you for making my favorite musical even more fabulous!!! :-D
stop belting, this isn't Wicked, its Sondheim.

Sorry... "A" for effort but "B-/C+" for performance...too much direction, too much emoting, too much "belting"...Sondheim is much more subtle...Joanne
PS But so happy Sondheim is being performed ! Joanne

You sounded a lot better in the opening number, I think. There was too much belt here, and some of it was uncontrolled. Not bad, though.

Sorry to sound so negative!

Great voice - strong belt.
Be careful of "pop" inflections - it detracts from the stylistic nature of the piece.
Balance between voices sounds a little uneven, but I'm assuming that's the limitations of the recording.
Nice work, though.

yes its sung in your head, its hard to listen to , the meaning is thrown outa the window and all i hear is a poor attemted at a belt.use your breath.
