  • Good thing Chelsea was there or he woulda snapped his shit up!

  • @7T7M7 "You got that right"

  • that was awful.

  • @thegaragecircle "Thanks"

  • I might sound like a retard here, but 120 + 120 = 240lbs. Where does your 285 come from? Surely your bar doesn't weight 45 lbs?

  • @ChrisMollartify the Olympic bar he was using is 45#. Not a retard, just didn't know. Now ya do!

  • Nice attempt. With just little more training, I say 315 would be cakewalk for you.

  • Hi. im going to crush my internal organs today.

  • why would u even post this?embaressing

  • @amusielski23 I was showing my son 13 at the time that a dad can lift allot of weight. He filmed it and it was "like a transmission dropping on me." Its what leads up to the lift thats funny. I was really thinking I was going to get the lift.

  • Get a spotter dumbass

  • @EastOaklandSHIT1 "Will do" "you sound like an old boss I had"

  • At least you controlled the weight all the way down and didnt just drop it and bounce it off your chest like a trampoline like most numbnuts do.

  • it would be easier if u had 2 45s and a 25 and a 5 ...

  • also.. please tell me those are baseball gloves.. lmao

  • @boostedGTO Yep there baseball gloves

  • @boostedGTO who gives a fuck what kinda gloves they are gloves are gloves he could be using construction gloves for all i care,

  • @Newbpwng Couldnt of said it better Newbpwng "thanks brother:

  • your ass came off the bench.. if i had someone to video me id take you up on that bench press challenge... i havnt maxed in over a year..

  • So next time your going to attempt a max in any lift I'm going to assume you'll have a spotter from lessons learned, yes?

  • @Gotjits0156 yep

  • u almost had it . . . .no u didnt

  • @diesellifter LOL

  • i thought he had a heart attack right before he lifted..

  • Least you got it off your chest. Pretty good.

  • So what's up w/ the friendly bench press contest? I guess no one else is in??? The challenge was made around Jan. 1st. Three months later would obviously be around April 1st. I started at 285. Got 290 a yesterday. Tried to do a video response but don't see it here. My 3 month goal is still a touch and go rep w/ 300. May go past it.

  • should have farted it up

  • you can't lift heavy weight with a beer drinker physical

  • @2107chriss i love it.. thanks

  • @2107chriss I know

  • Haha... Wow.

  • "I'm gonna bench.....Two-Eighty-Five!! LMFAO!!!

  • ****I would like to invite everyone to a healthy fun bench contest*** lets work hard the next three months and post are benches as we progress*** friend each other and subscribe so we can push each other to are goals..

  • @Archieloverful I'm in. Would the reps be touch and go or copetition though? I got 285 touch and go 2-3 days ago. My 3 month goal is 300.....or 295 in copetiton form.

  • honest dude... keep it up man you will achieve your goals if you just keep working hard :

  • lmfao!!!

  • @DelvonThatDude I checked the lift out. Well done!

  • Good try man. You'll get 300 soon, just keep at it! You should get yourself a power rack for safety.

  • im only squattin this weight for 1 rep,but im a small dude, what is your weight and height archive?

  • @triggersprollie 185 5-10

  • No roll of shame?

  • @Cephas No shame when playing the game

  • hey man this was almost a year ago whats ur max now?

  • @xAKxDman360 Its around 270 lbs would you like another video of 285 attempt?

  • @Archieloverful yeah man i say go for it and put it as a response to this video to show everyone you can lift now! but only when you can though

  • Next time you try to bench something hard to lift, make sure someone spot you! ;)

  • The person watching you should of came to your help once they saw the weight not going back up. You have about a second or two to respond once you see that. But I've actually had this happen to me once, It was a lot less weighe like half of that but no one was around to help. After it was on my chest for a second the only thing I could do was push as hard as i could up and sideways to drop one side of the bar on the floor, then I was able to hold ther other side up with both arms and crawl out.

  • once you stall half-way there and start to slowly go down then you tell yourself ... "ahhh crap"

  • @Vadager "Ah crap" exactly! Big problem here, I was in this rut by myself. It was like a tree comming down on you. Just got to get this off me...

  • January 5 2008

  • Comment removed

  • you are trying 285 in JANUARY? and your goal for the year was 300? so you were going to improve by only 15 pounds? dont you have any faith in yourself at all...

  • @dumbali I hurt my shoulder at work set me back four months. Two months of recovery and now I can start soon to achieve my goal

  • @dumbali I will get to 270 by January. I had a three month set back due to an injury at work. I am back on the Whey Protein at 26g per scoup. It will not be long. I will post the progress with a lift of multiples of ten as I advance to my goal.

  • @Archieloverful yeah good luck with that dude!

  • @dumbali Thanks man!

  • @Archieloverful but dude, you should not lift your hips away from the bench while you are pressing you have to fix that, and why do you use gloves? try without it... but how much do you weight atm? :)

  • Hips have to stay down if it is to count, you can do it, you had great control going down dude! good luck with your lifting!

  • "Ok - chelsea!" ^^

  • @elcapitan711 Help me? Man I was pinned real deep. Alot goes through your head when you have 300 lbs laying on you! Help anyone Chelsie my daughter

  • Survivor hear I come!

  • CHELSEA

  • Weak sauce....

  • @cobraz15 Three hundred pounds baby its in my sites very soon

  • @cobraz15 Hot baby!

  • @cobraz15 Personally I think that was strong sauce!

  • I weigh 145 and bench that ;). And next time you're doing your max use a spotter just a tip.

  • Good try Archie. They make spotter stands for this purpose, by the way, in case you're interested in investigating your options for future attempts. It's tough sometimes without a training partner.

  • Yes!! The classic stack! love seeing weights on the classic stack.

  • @UnderlineFitness Yo thanks dude!

  • good effort. Im sure you surpassed 300 by now. Are you from seattle? I see the mariners in the back!

  • Amazing what a mere 10 more pounds can do isnt it? Nice try. Do me a favor and get a spotter though bro. You are going to hurt yourself.

  • @ProPainC63 Ya the 10 lbs put a hurt on me! Chelsey my daughter age 15 in the other room aint going to work, I and the sheet rock in the wall found out the hard way.....

  • @Archieloverful Be carful brother. You can kill yourself pretty quick if that weight lands in the wrong place.

  • @ProPainC63 Ya I know now.

  • chelsea........................ha

  • Wow what a joke! U blame not having a spotter for not being able to get the weight up? How about u weren't strong enough. Judging by your lack of upper body development, u clearly lack the physical attributes it takes to move this weight. Nice jeans and spandex shirt though

  • well at least you tried

  • @aintnopity I gave it all I had. The lift could of been made if I would of had a spotter. I was nervious and the weight was not taken down in the correct position all because of no spotter.

  • @Archieloverful i know, i often have the same problem since I mostly train alone. But I'm not even near your weight neither in pressing nor in weighing myself ;). But at least I'm workin on it!

  • Wow.... Very smart

  • lol, next time man!

  • @MrBjax Thanks

  • @Archieloverful no probs, i train alone (home gym in garage) and understand how difficult it is getting your 1RM, been in some awkward positions myself lol

  • @MrBjax Thanks.... its a dangerious hobby but somebody has to do it....

  • Spotter?

  • GEEZ man USE a spotter plz dont hurt urself dude not fucking worth it !!!

  • Oh, and by the way, I weight 182lbs and 5' 9"

  • I was just looking at 275 bench press for reps on youtube cuz I tried for reps on wednesday. I got 275 for 9 clean reps. Then 315 2x, and back down to 225 for 17x with no spotter. I have been setting my goal for max reps on 225 and hit 22x, and mixing it up to break through a plateau. I am not interested in powerlifting, just want to be a super strong, well rounded athlete. Amazing what you can train the body to do with proper diet and routine! At least you are working out!!

  • I say good on ya. For all the haters in here, lets see your video. I think what stopped you was comming off the chest you came forward and were not completely under the bench. Also if you pull yourself toward the bar before the lift you will push blood into your lats and there by help you through the negative.

  • @TheMurse07 I agree TheMurse07, I was no under the lift properly because of no spotter. I had to lift around the bench bracket, to take it down. I way to forward on the lift as well. I like the advice Peece out!

  • Wouldn't be so bad if you weren't a fairly stocky guy. I'm aiming for 255 my next maximal day workout, but I've only been doing this for barely 9 months. I've come to realize that anything under 400lbs for a 200lb guy is weak and I'm aiming for 500.

  • @M1thotyn anything above a 200 pound lift is strong for an average guy. One has to have healthy shoulders, the entire arm and chest to bench. Anything close to 300 pounds for a 186 pound guy like myself takes many hours of training.

  • @Archieloverful I want to believe that. I really do. I stress over my lifts all the time because every time I hit a new personal best, I come here to youtube and see videos of 160lb kids doing twice as much. Then I go to powerlifting forums and here people talking about adding 100lbs to their benchpress in 12 weeks and some 5'4 200lb guy posts videos from his last meet, benching 700 lbs and squatting 800. Sadly, anything under 400lbs isn't a big bench.

  • @M1thotyn Ok so you are shooting for 500 and you are not even above 255. First off post this when you break 315. I am not going to waste my time with my max but my raw bench in competition is well over your 400 mark. Nothing pissess me off more than some one talking trash and not knowing what they are talking about,. See there are a lot of factors in a bench. First there is the mental part. Second your stabilizer muscles and third there is the reality of form. As for @Archieloverful, good job!

  • @TheMurse07 How in the hell is it talking trash to say that anything under 400 isn't a big bench? God damn you people are stupid. I guess I'm talking trash if I go to a car dealership and say anything that takes longer than 6 seconds to get to 60mph is a slow car. If you think I'm talking trash, then that's just your own insecurity, cause you're obviously reading into my comment something that wasn't there.

  • @M1thotyn Lets see first off you say he is a "fairly stocky guy" and "Wouldn't be so bad". Second you are putting up 255 and know nothing about big weight. When you hit 315 I will listen (I warm up with 315). Finally I think anyone even trying to hit the weights is doing the right thing. His form is decent and he is clean on his lift. So I say good on him.

Now I will talk realities with you for under 200 lbs and at 400. You will see only a very few hit that in the meets even, especially raw.

  • @TheMurse07 There you go again, demonstrating how you completely misintrepeted what I said. You're making it sound like I came hear, bragging about my 255lb benchpress and trashing this guy for only benching 30 lbs more. When if you re-read everything i said, I clearly stated that my bench is VERY SMALL, and THEREFORE I aim for a 500lb benchpress. My point to the guy is don't be satisified with a 285lb benchpress, cause it's a SMALL BENCH! My god you're fucking dense.

  • @M1thotyn try weighing 290 and benching under 400...it doesn't matter though man..but like he said. once your above 200-225 your already stronger than 50-60% of guys anyway. just keep lifting and eating man..btw im on the "quest" for a 500 lb bench too haha.

  • im 16 and your like 45 and i get that up without my back arched 5ft in the air

  • This video is awesome. Going for a max lift without a spotter, wearing a belt to bench and wearing gloves to bench. You failed in multiple ways without even knowing it. Strong fail.

  • @ktj4l yep

  • u need a spotter more than a camera man!!! lol

  • Chelsey? thats your dog?

  • @cekannn nope it is my daughter. I wanted her to get my brother outside to get the stuff off my chest

  • @cekannn Ya baby!

  • @cekannn Chelsie is my daughter. I know that sounds stupid but somebody please get this off me. Close call!

  • Comment removed

  • I can do that for a set of 10.

  • @TiffanyTwisted82 I wish i could

  • @TiffanyTwisted82 cool story brah

  • not only did you fail, you also arched like a mofo :/

  • "humpfffff... okay... call the amberlamps"

  • correct me if i'm wrong but isn't 125+125+45 (barbell) 295?

  • errrgghhh oooffff ok CHELLSEY!

  • @Vnix Chelsie can you help get this transmission of my chest!

  • Don't arch, thats a no no.

  • CHELSEA

  • The bar is 45 pound standard bar weight. 120 on each side equels 285 lbs

  • Big mistake I had a my 14 year old son filming me. He all but 90 pounds.

  • @Archieloverful you should have done a practice run first but i have been in that same situation u just roll that bar down

  • @MegaJustice2 I did a practice run but when I decided to tape the lift I couldnt get the lift up. I had an empty tank that day. I should of done it with a full tank of gas.

  • @Archieloverful ya i can relate to you cause sometimes i cant get up 275 other times i can get 285 it was a good vid though

  • Wheres your spotter?

  • if one side weighs 120 and the other to wouldnt it equal 240?

  • @adj569 the bar is 45lbs

  • @adj569 plus the bar.

  • @adj569 The bar weighs 45...

  • LMFAO WHAT A TOOL

  • "..Hi. Im going to suck ass today...watch..."

  • Jackass

  • Jackass

  • Why don't they just put 2 45's a 25 and a 5???

  • @PleaseBuyMyCat Its the disc's I have. I bought the set with just 300 lbs of weights, my goal was to lift it all in one shot.

  • @Archieloverful Oh lol

  • Chelsey!!!!!! i did it aigian !!!!

  • @USMCstyle Ego was bigger than the lift.

  • Phil Hellmuth !? : P

  • @Maakkkssss Are you saying Phil Hellmuth and I both have the same competitive spirit?

  • @Archieloverful

I just think you are similar to each other :) good luck with training !

  • @Maakkkssss Thanks

  • I did that same thing with 265 once. Except I didn't have anybody to help me so I just dumped the weights off the end of the bar.....sounded real nice.

  • @UR5U8700LTWB Ya it happens when occasionally. 99 percent of the time I know when eneogh is eneogh. No big deal when repping out with rep weight, but when I go for the max again I will have someone big there to help.....

  • lose the belt and the gloves !

  • @Kjeldsen001 Old habits are hard to break. Its a small factor when one looks at the big picture when you have something just under 300 lbs over your chest fighting gravity.... LOL

  • you would have had it if you would have kept your arms even

  • I am feeling it lately... I think I feel another try at 280 comming this weekend......

  • @tylerdurden666able Oh by the way I never have used a weight belt. That is a normal belt. I use the belt to hang my cell phone on and carry a leatherman for work. If you read my bio "you would see that I am a baseball coach. The hat " I am a TEXAS fan" Oh the gloves. They have grip. " If you have almost 300 lbs above you" one has to be very careful the bar does not slip out of you hands. "Simply put it could put you in the hospital or worse six foot under, so ya I use gloves for solid grip.

  • @tylerdurden666able Cant you give an old guy a break. Its better than sitting in a bar stool bragging about what you did, how you use to do it.. "This is real time baby" By the way I do throw a 80 MPR fast ball. My shoulder and arm is not on rehabilitation. This is my sports room where I can crank music and work the body. I am not one to brag but only at 188 lbs we both should agree I am one strong old son of a champion.... Later By the way I love TEXAS and TEXAS women.......

  • do more curls get your biceps built up and your triceps too. do a few lat workouts and then you look like a badass

  • @nwilson59 those bad ass days are gone.. I am in it for strength....

  • so can you do anything besides bench press?

  • @jskrabac I do all kind of work outs. I like to jog after working out. I work on the abbs, shoulders, full arm work outs ect. I am not training to lift huge amounts of weights. I train to stay in shape for baseball and stay fit.

  • @Archieloverful So jogging, arms, and bench, thank you for answering my question. You do not train your legs. I was hoping to see a squat and/or deadlift vid on your channel, since you have a solid bench. I find your statement ironic that you train for baseball, a sport heavily based in a strong core and legs, yet, you don't train for either of those. Bummer. Check out Eric Cressy's work. He works with alot of pro baseball guys. Can't go wrong with any of his programs.

  • @jskrabac Nope just alot of stairs. Your right I stress the kids to work the core but I do limited legs.

  • @jskrabac When would U all like me to try this again. Any takers. I will have my big boys spot me.

  • gloves is for pussies

  • @ChuckPreZton I use gloves for the grip and u also can see the first aid tape on the bar. Hands get wet when working out and a steel bar with bar hands can be lethal. I will tell you that I am far from a pussy. I like to crush things.

  • 0:49 soooo funny

  • lol funny thing if he uploaded that

  • LMAO .. should have just rocked the plates off one side at a time

  • @BIGDADDY21AK I ended up rocking them off. It isnt the first time this has happened. I have done it with less weight triing to push to failure.

  • LMAO that texas hat will make u stronger :) how bout u start of with 25lb n work ur way up

  • I pumped iron yesterday bench-biceps-shoulders in that order to complete failure. I sore today. I have made the decision to go after the heavy stuff again. I worked out with 225 and ended with 185 on the bench. I think in about a month I will push 280 up. Takes time muscles have memory.

  • chelsae hahahahahahahah!!!!!

  • @UpDaDubs34 Nothing better than something as heavy as a car transmission on your chest. Holly crap.

  • chelsey is the bitch to call when trouble arises in the household, I bet she benches this with ease!
