  • Cochran was only the best !

  • i keep a traipsin all over town too - my downfall

love how they pumped EC's vocal thru a Leslie cab or trem circuit...innovative

  • I can honestly say I didn't learn about rock and roll by listening to zeppelin or any of those bands. I think most of us didn't actually. For me it has always been the '50s and '60s, blues, surf and stuff like that.

  • :)

    This influenced Zeppelin

  • Page himself credits artists like Eddie Cochane and Link Wray for opening the doors to music that no one in England would have ever thought of. American music was the main influence on the British Invasion. Even Skiffle was American influenced.

  • Well, there definitely wouldn't be Led Zeppelin hadn't it been for folks like Eddie.

But then, hadn't it been for Led Zeppelin none of us would probably know about Eddie and rock'n'roll whatsoever, right?

  • @touaregk

    no, not right

  • @skw1zz

all right. Probably most of us wouldn't know. That better?

  • @touaregk

    what?

  • @touaregk Paul McCartney played the Eddie Cochran song TWENTY FLIGHT ROCK for John Lennon in 1957. So even WAY before Zep and even the Yardbirds(Pages band in the '60s) people were covering Eddie Cochran songs and being influenced by him.

  • @snarfnard

yeah man I totally agree with you. I'm just saying that most of us learnt rock'n roll and folks like Eddie via Led Zeppelin.

  • An absolute classic!!!!!!!!

  • I wish I was old enought to have seen this guy. I was only 4 when he bought the farm. I bet he put on one hell of a show!

  • So "Communication Breakdown" is supposed to be a copy of this? It sounds nothing like it!

  • @theredraven It owes a LOT to this song. Page just revved it up quite a bit.Compare and contrast and it will appear..

  • @theredraven It took inspiration for the riff thats it.

Not copied it was ifluenced by the riff

  • I agree with neal5189 because we are not talking about led zeppelin, this is before them even if they were better!

  • Gritty guitarist AND he wrote his own tunes. Just blows me away. When will be a movie about the greatest rocker of all time?

And his death. His guitar playing inspired so many later players.

If he were alive during the Beatles era, George and John would have made compilations with Eddie way before the Wilburys.

  • Speciaal voor @haagdijk

  • Classic soundz, baby!!!!!

  • Eddie Cochran < Led Zeppelin

  • @ClaussXeroS you're an idiot for writing that.

  • @Neal5189 Led Zeppelin are much betteer musicians and songwriters

  • @kildare97 zeppelin owe their entire career to eddie and other artists like him and zeppelin themselves would disagree with you, and eddie is far more influential than zeppelin. without eddie there is no led zeppelin

  • @sharkunalin Ok dude say what you wanna say but zeppelin are much more influential it doesn't matter if you like eddie more but its the truth.

And zeppelin dont owe their career to him if anybody its the yardbirds.

Without eddie zeppelin would still be around but with a different CB

  • Is it just me, or did he sound just a little like Elvis?

  • i'm suprised that his compan is still looking for recordings

  • Drmouse87, I guess this song would have come before Led Zep considering Eddie Cochran died in 1960. I believe Beethovens 5th symphony came before The Beatles but I'll just check.

  • 8 people died from their nervous reaction to rock and roll.

  • One more to SP's ultimate album

  • skins!!

  • Comment removed

  • Armie Hammer(the social network) looks like Eddie Cochran.

  • 8 people just don't get it...

  • whats the resemblence between this song and communication breakdown other than the words "nervous breakdown"

  • @GranDrJ the riff was inspired by this song" jimmy page used a small miked amplifier to create the effects in communication breakdown

this song came before led zepp

  • @drmouse87 so if you play this song amplified like Page had it, it would sound like Communication Breakdown?

  • @GranDrJ not one little bit

  • @overbrookXXX thats what i figured...:)

  • When he sings "went to see a doctor the other day" his voice just gets me, ITS SO FUCKING GOOD!

  • A huge favourite of mine, huge enjoyment every time I hear it.

  • My Favourite "Eddie song"... everyones has tried to do "EDDIE"

  • merveilleux Eddye

  • Absolutely cracking!

Two of the greatest rocking guitarist who paved the way for the rest, Eddie and buddy Holly!

  • Én is lassan

  • Eddie has an electrifying guitar with catchy vocals is a recipe that makes a classic rock "n" roll song!

  • @fbombdog99 That was a good one. Page, is he a page in a novel?

  • This is pure cool rock!

  • he stole this from led zeppelin kinda

  • @sman3424 bullshit. this is way before zeppelin dumbass

  • @inthisriver362

    waaaaay before..

like stating that Elvis stole the style of shakin stevens...lol

  • @inthisriver362 I don't know who you reply to but I know that the future 'Zepp's' were just some kids at this time when this Rock n' Roll masterpiece was recorded

  • @inthisriver362 Sorry, I just missed the person who added that banana reply below yours.

  • @inthisriver362 wow just a joke i mean mean zeppelin is my favorite band but I also know they are a great cover band

  • @sman3424 Like 'kinda' Led Zeppelin was recording in the 1950's...or? Take it easy with the drugs. lol

  • @sman3424 LOL n00bish troll

  • @sman3424 eddie died in 1960, zeppelin didn't form until 1968

  • cool... that rocks...

  • @reneholz66 you're mom roks

  • I wonder if Eddie ever had sex with Sharon?

  • @walt7500 He had's sex wit you're mama

  • they took me away in handcuffs, s'o.k., but they kept the cuffs!

  • man, i wanna see those shops, our record store only has one, and its tagged 150, im not a "collector" but more of someone who prefers to listen to vinyl i just couldn't bring myself to listen to a hundred fifty dollar record

  • @firefox8383, it may not be exact, but they did in fact copy somethin else and c'mon everybody it's really not too far fetched that they would use more of his material, england didnt exposed to rocknroll too much in the 50's elvis couldnt come cause colonel parker was barred from england, it was eddie and gene vincent that was showin em what was goin on in the us

  • Thumbs up because those who put thumbs down are retards and fans of justin beaver

  • so good, thats all that needs saying.........

  • One of Eddie's greatest rockers. Period.

  • I saw Eddie perform this song in Oct. 1959 at the National Guard Armory

in Williston, ND. He did the whole bit, Quivering hands, shaking legs, the whole

Elvis enchilada. It was great. Brought the place down.

  • I went to this song because somebody said that Led Zeppelin "stole" this from Eddie Cochran. This is not note for note the same song. Does it sound similar? Somewhat. Does that mean that if you were to transcribe the sheet music, note for note, that it would look the exact same, which is the only thing that could actually constitute plaigarism? No.

I'm sick of my favorite band being called out.

  • @FiReFoXx8383 It does sound like it's based on it . . . not to mention the lyrics. However, the only song that has plagiarism written all over it (excluding the break and solo) is Dazed and Confused.

  • @FiReFoXx8383 - music-based plagiarism cases are usually judged on things like two songs the same chords and progressions in the same way with regard to key and tempo etc. it's not really about a song copying another one, 'note for note'. That would be easy enough for anyone to spot. It's more to do with whether 'key elements' are similar enough in the compared songs to suggest that they were deliberately used.

  • @prescient8 So would you consider it plagiarism or does this fall into the "Come Together" category?

  • How many people think that had Edie lived longer than he did ,would have been a major contender to Elvis>

  • Thanks a lot for your answer !

    I love Heavy-Metal & Hard-Rock but it doesn't help me to love 50's Rock'N'Roll !!!!

  • gangerollo

I have all Eddie's original albums.

  • Zeppelin didn't rip Cochran off with Communication Breakdown, they ripped him off with Livin Lovin Maid. Morons.

  • holy crap. never noticed that before. that's awesome.

  • I've known this song for years as performed by Ducks Deluxe. I had always assumed it was a tribute to Eddy Cochran rather than a cover; apparently I was wrong.

Great song all the same. Love that vibrato!

  • ,`1

  • blacks did kinda make rock n roll fuck genres listen to music through the ages in America and ull see it was the blacks

  • Blacks gave jazz, blues, ragtime, reggae, rock and roll... rap and hip-hop...

Whites brought metal, hard rock, rock, special rock, psychedelic rock, progressive rock, heavy metal, classical music, Spanish music...

Who gives a shit about white or black ppl! Humans! We're all fucking humans!!!

Humans have music, humans changed music! Great human music! Humans created and changed everything about music.

  • @LinkBulletBill So right, so right

  • I'm having q great time listening to Eddie's pulsating rock 'n' roll music. Eddie rocks the universe!

  • aaaaahhh, he copied Barry Williams''Johnny Bravo''

  • its so great....he was so talented:D

  • It's funny to see how some people are fighting for something that makes no sense.

Don't you have anything else to do?

    (:

  • btw - this is one of my top favorite Eddie's songs and me and my band we're plying it at some gigs! rock'n'roll!

  • ur a douche

  • I never get tired of this song because it sounds just a fresh when I first heard played. Eddie rocks forever!

  • The REEL KING OF ROCK AND ROLL! He invented our shit! see "My Way" Real Kids Luv playin that song Blue Cheer made them $ He wrote everything kool! This guy IS ROCK AND ROLL!!! Only the good dye yung I guess.... I'm an EVIL MF Nah TBD
  • Elvis wrote only one song, he was not the producer of his songs i think, he was only a singer how big was his influence in his music?

  • elvis is a bitch, bo diddley and chuck berry are the true kings of rock n roll, i dont think u know wut ur talking about, or how to say it

  • All of Bo Squidley's music sounded the same! I will give you Chuck Berry though, he was cool! But both these guys together never topped what Elvis did! And they lived longer too! Elvis was an arranger of music and co-produced as well! If you can hear and see, you'll know that Elvis' music, style and look was different from anyone else, especially in the 50s! He was the shit, and you know it, and it pisses you off! LOL. Two things you can never take away from Elvis, his voice and good looks!

  • elvis didnt write his own songs

  • Elvis only co-wrote two songs, Heartbreak Hotel and Always on My Mind. What Elvis' main contribution was in his music was arranging and co-producing! Anyone can write a song, but if it isn't arranged and produced properly it sounds like shit! Elvis would take a song written by someone and change it in the studio to fit his own style.

  • For example, listen to Mama Thorntons version of Hound Dog (written by Leiber/Stoller) and then listen to Elvis' version! It's entirely different! Tempo, Straight Beat, Chords, lyrics and Scotty Moore added a lead guitar solo, which at the time was the first to put a lead solo in a rock song. Elvis opened doors for many rockers, White and Black. Jackie Wilson is quoted as saying, "I've never seen a Black or White Man dance, sound or look like Elvis, He Is One Of A Kind" Jackie Wilson!

  • yea he took chuck berrys formula of rock n roll, i can do that too, his MAIN contribution was opening the doors up for black people in mainstream music, and i would take big mama thorntons version over elvis' anyday

  • You gotta be kidding right? You obviously have no clue, or are simply deaf and blind! Show me, prove your facts that he copied CB in anyway! Truth is, you can't! I will say, both were influenced by one another, as were many rockers were influenced by one another of the era! But EP and CB were two entirely different acts, dances and sound! Unless of course you're deaf and blind! EP was of his own persona, as was CB, Jerry Lee,

    L. Richard and even B. Holly!

  • Although I like Mamas version of HD, I like Elvis' better, because it's actually the Rock sound. Mamas was the Blues sound! You obviously can't tell the difference! Elvis' version is straight beat, Mamas version is double back beat! Do you even know the difference? Most likely not, because you're simply an Elvis hater, which is sad! You've not said one good thing about Elvis, which makes you ignorant! Be assured R-N-R would not exist without the colaboration of both Wht & Blk people!

  • u need to to calm the fuck down, just because i like mama thorntons version better doestnt mean i dont know the difference between the two, and like i said elvis is good for opening the doors for black people in mainstream music

  • You saying, and I quote, ( Elvis Is A Bitch, Diddley and Berry Are The True Kings, Elvis Took Chuck Berry's Formula) and you want me to calm down? I don't think so with talk like that! Because it's simply NOT TRUE! If you listen to the music and watch their stage presense, there's a night and day difference between Elvis, Bo, Chuck and the rest of the era. Elvis was of his own creation, as was Chuck and Bo.

  • im sayin that elvis does not, under any circumstances deserve the title king of rock and roll, Bo Diddley

  • Bo Diddley was mainly a blues artist, first hit was "I'm The Man" a Blues song! Second hit was "Who Do You Love '56" which if you listen closely has the same rhythm "train sound" as Johhny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues '55" which was recorded before "Who Do You Love". Although I like Bo D. I personally do not consider him a main pioneer of R-N-R although he did contribute. Many people fail to realize that there is a difference between ROCK and BLUES, two TOTALLY different drum beats.

  • have u not heard of the diddley beat u fucking dumbass, its been used by pretty much every rock n roll band out there, "if you could give rock n roll another name it might be chuck berry" -john lennon

  • You mean the beat that Bo copied from Johnny Cash's 1955 Folsom Prison Blues? You're the dumbass little buda! LOL.. And many Rockers of the era called it the Train Shuffle, brilliant one! I've been a percussionist for many years, mainly playing Hard Rock and have never used that beat. So to say it's been used by pretty much every rock band is bullshit, especially when it pretty much died after Buddy Holly.

  • Elvis was both Country and Blues music influenced, and along with Scotty Moore actually fused country and blues and came upon a straight beat which has been used in R-N-R for years! Elvis is considered one of the main pioneers of R-N-R having fused Country and Blues together, in additon to majorly outselling his counter parts and having sold over 1 BILLION records with many being Gold, Plat, 2X Plat and 3X Plat! No other artist has ever topped Elvis nor ever will! That's why HE'S THE KING!

  • elvis is a fag

  • @Ikjhgfdsa123able: It's really sad you don't have anything intelligent to say. All you can say is "Elvis is a fag"? That basically makes you a jealous piece of shit, that can't appreciate all rockers of the era. ELVIS IS KING because no one, past or present, has ever surpassed his record sales, he opened doors, influenced many rockers and to this day is still selling music 32 years after his death! The proof is there dude! And all you can do is make up shit! Go read a book you dildo! : )

  • Comment removed

  • and you know elvis had a band behind him who composed alot of the music too right?

  • Most of the songs Elvis recorded were originally written by other composers, but were re-arranged in the studio by Elvis and Scotty Moore to fit thier style and sound, which is called ARRANGING & PRODUCING! Every Rocker at one time or another in that era did covers, as many still do today! C. Berry, Jerry Lee, B. Holly, Fats, E. Cochran, L. Richard, Dion, Platters, among many more did covers!

If you truly love R-N-R you wouldn't be hating on Elvis or any other Rocker of the era.

  • i realize that other artists did covers, but that was all elvis did.

  • Elvis did co-write Heartbreak Hotel and Always on My Mind. But every cover recording Elvis did was changed in one way or another chord, tempo and in some even lyrics. Elvis' main talent was arranging, re-arranging and producing in the studio, and of course his versatile voice. And he wasn't a bad rhythm guitarist either in the early years. Elvis took original songs and made them better, which is obvious by his tremendous record sales!

  • u dont know shit if u think bo diddley was less important than elvis, and u certainly dont know shit if u think he stole the bo diddley beat from johnny, if it wasnt for bo diddley we wouldnt have buddy holly, the rolling stones, or probably not even jimi hendrix, long live the king

  • Once again, you have nothing to back up your rhetoric! Those of whom you mentioned, had many more other influences other than Bo! So to say if Bo never existed, they would have never been, is completely assinine for you to say! You really need to actually listen to Folsom Prison Blues 1955 by Cash, and Who Do You Love 1956 by Bo! If you can't tell, then you have your head right up your ass dude! Give it up! And I never said Bo was less important! I said, he is not the main pioneer of R-N-R.

  • well 1. way to pick the two most popular songs by those two, i think u need to listen to alittle more of both of them, epecially bo diddley if u think all his songs sound the same 2. i can hear a pretty clear difference between the two songs 3. that song doesnt even have the diddley beat that im talking about and 4. chuck berry is the main pioneer of rock n roll (the king of rock n roll)

  • I picked those songs, because it shows that Bo copied Johnny's Train Shuffle beat, only difference is Bo increased the tempo, but it's the same beat. And Johnny's most popular song was Walk The Line. Now you're saying Chuck was the King? Make up your mind already little buda! Is it Chuck or Bo? LOL.. I know who is the True King! Elvis is the UNDISPUTED KING of R-N-R! Until another Entertainer outsells, or becomes more popular than Elvis was (which will never happen) he'll always be KING!

  • i dont fucking care who sold more records thats a stupid as shit to decide whose the king rock n roll, cuz rock n rolls not about about money its about the soul, and wtf is little budda thats fucking retarded, who do you love is a great song but like i said thats not the beat im talking about listen to the song bo diddley, and buddy holleys single biggest influence was bo diddley

  • I call you little buda, because that's what you do, sit there with nothing to say but bullshit! You simply do not understand the term, The Undisputed King! It's not about money, it's about how many people like you vs others, and Elvis kicks ass hands down! Many people, including myself, like Chuck, Bo, Holly, Dion, Fats, Platters, Cochran, Valens, etc! But NONE is more popluar, has as many fans or sell more than Elvis! Even to this day! The proof is there little buda, and it pisses you off!

  • Little buda? I have all 50's Rock music in my collection, including Bo, Johnny and Holly! Any DUMBASS can hear that Bo was influenced by Johnny's "Train Shuffle" beat! And Holly began his music playing Country/Bluegrass/Rockabilly asswipe! And his main influences were Elvis and Bill Haley. I suggest you get the book written by his wife Maria! The movie was bullshit, even she said so herself!

I can go on and on and kick your little buda ass with this shit! Give it up dude!

  • mhm and like i said its not about popularity, or how many records you sell. and many people like you chuck bo holly dion fats platters cochran valens do wut? back in the day bo was known as the originator but sadly time has let people like u forget that, eminem is going to go down as an elvis becasue hes the first white guy doing full on black music, elvis could shake his hips, but he can also suck my dick

  • Little Buda? You're just pissed because you know I'm right! : ) You can't come up with anything substantial to back your claims, so you puke shit! You need to go fuck your mother, or whom ever raised your racist sorry for a life, in the ass! Because they did a terrible job!

Seems you forgot the Beastie Boys and V Ice, You Racist Maggot! Eminem an Elvis? LOL!!!! You done fell off the ship big time Little Buda! You're really embarrassing yourself! Let it go : )

  • wow really steppin up the maturity level with the "fuck your mother routine"....and racist? it started with the little budda "insult" and know ur completly not making any sense at all

  • You're one to talk Little Buda! Not only do you NOT KNOW about music, you're a hypocrite also. Just let it go man..

  • wow ur rly steppin up the maturity level with whole "go fuck your mother" routine.....and racist? how am i the racist one when u cant admit that black people founded rock n roll...which is a fact

  • Well I say it as I see it! And if you actually believe it was soley Black People that founded R-N-R, you seriously need a course in music history little buda! R-N-R derived from a colaboration of many types of music, country, blues, rockabilly, boogie woogie and swing. And if it wasn't for Italian inventors inventing the guitar, piano, cello (bass), violin, the english inventing the snare drum and the french the brass horn, there would no music as we have known it in the past and know it today!

  • lol guitars werent created in italy but ok, i realize it took all different people to do it, all different genres to make it, but black people were the first to play rock n roll music, how the fuck am i racist?

  • Little Buda? It amazes me on how stupid you really are! You shouldn't even be commenting on music to begin with dude.

The first 6 string (REAL) guitar as we know it today was invented by Gaetano Vinaccia, the violin as we know it today was invented by Andera Amati, and the cello (BASS) was invented by Amati also! And the piano was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori, all from Italy! Black people were the first to play blues, actually deriving from country, even BB King said that himself!

  • yea wikipedias pretty sweet huh douchebag, the first known guitar was made in india

  • @Ikjhgfdsa123able: The Sitar is not considered a Guitar you asswipe! LOL!! You're truly in need of some help Little Buda! It's common knowledge (if you know music) that the True 6E-1E Tuneable Guitar as we use in music to this day was invented by Gaetano Vinaccia in Italy! You know, the Guitar that we use in our music today? I do believe you're the douchebag Little Buda. So go douche your mother, then read some good books on music and instruments and how they evolved : )

  • We're obviously not going to agree on anything! So I'll be man enough to say, I agree to disagree with you. I have my beliefs and you have yours. My belief is, and the proof is there, it was a colaboration of many people that invented Rock-N-Roll.... Rock-N-Roll is a mixture of many music's fused into one.

  • The Italians also did a lot of doowop

  • People of many different ethnic backgrounds deserve credit for R-N-R, that being, Italian, English,French, African, Irish, Spanish, Chinese,Egyptian ,German and the Swiss. Without instruments there would be no music. And without Country, Bluegrass,Blues,Rockabilly, Boogie Woogie and Swing music, R-N-R would have never been.

  • Chinese?.... Egyptian?... give me an example and Ill believe you...

  • The Chinese basically invented the cymbal and tom tom drum as we know them today. The Egyptians came up with (among other variations other people came up with) the HARP. They also invented the OUD, which is a hollow body string instrument, resembling a guitar. I must say though, I think they sound terrible! LOL..

  • And speaking of "Walk The Line", that's actually the same Train Shuffle beat too! LOL.. The true fact is, Bo copied that beat from Johhny's Folsom Prison Blues '55! That's not to say that Bo shouldn't have done that, because Bo did speed the tempo which sounded good, but the innovator of that specific beat was Johnny Cash! Buddy Holly also used that simular beat in "Oh Boy" also.

  • Elvis copied everything.

  • What a pity. He died so young. But his influence founded a new wave in music rock. That's why he is one of the greatest.

  • Great song, don`t need comparing him he just made fantastic music.that`ll do me.

  • no need to apoligise your right theres not many people who can boast a track record like eddie's before the age of twenty one

    by the way motorhead rock

    cheers friend

  • that is rock"n"roll

  • whether or not eddie cochran copied elvis's image is inmaterial, eddie sang, wrote and produced his own material playing blistering guitar solos,he also freelanced as a session guitarist from the age of sixteen, sometimes playing a number of instruments on his own recordings, guitar bass and drums thanks to the overdubbing recording system.

all this before his early death at the age of 21.

  • Agree! Eddie's one of the best U can get from the era. I like the good ol' Rock & Roll songs from the 50's - 60's; No matter how hard my favorite band (Motorhead) plays, An Eddie Cochran song is damn cool and the bass lines are strong and uncompromisin' in them. 3 chords put together very well, lyrics make a bit of sense and for fuck's sake, he died young people can't jus' slag him off...

I jus' thought I share this thought; sorry :)

    POMY COLLINGWOOD

  • This is what rock and roll is all about: great voice, great guitar work and pulsing beat! I'm hooked!

  • nowt like jonny cash

  • Eddie, you are still a cool cat. Hope we can jam on the other side...

I would LOVE to have one of those old Gretsch 6120's... real rock & roll is the sound of a hollow body electric guitar

  • He was even hotter life, which I saw Eddie in1957!!!!! I just meet a guy who new Eddie from his last tour in England(1960).

  • He was hot...

  • he was way before Elvis, and he didn't die in the airplane crash with Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper J.P Richardson, and Ricie Valens; The Day the Music dies you idiots! Eddie died in a car crash in England! Morons!! He doesnt look like Elvis, Elvis stole his look, and his style, and the way he dressed!

  • No he wasnt.Eddie was another pretender.Elvis was 2 years before him.Elvis copied nothing from Eddie.Get your facts right.

  • Talkin
