Please, enlighten me as to what cap and trade is. Because from what I can see, it is a tax. It also has that deal with clean emission trading, where if a company is good to the environment, they can give their clean emission credits to companies that are not so clean. It won't change anything. Companies that pollute will simply buy their credits from other companies. There is no incentive for them to change.
Having to buy credits disincentivises pollution. Eventually it's cheaper to invest in cleaner energy production than to keep paying for emissions. I'm not sure I'm for taxing utilities further, but something is necessary to force progress and a switch to cleaner renewable sources.

Actually the explanation for the climate cooling down would be the unusual amount of volcanic activity occuring halfway through the winter of 2008 which extended the cold weather slightly. A significant volcanic eruption can send particles into the atmosphere which block out the sunlight until they have completely dissipated. A prime example is the year 1816, which was known as the year without a summer due to an eruption of the Mt Tambora super volcano.

You were obviously in high school at one point, you would have learned about the existence of greenhouse gases which have caused the planet venus to be as it is. This is scientiffic fact. If i were going to say to someone, we shouldn't build this hospital because it will cost 100 million dollars and lose 10,000 jobs in the voodoo industry, and people would much rather try to heal themselves then have the hospital step in, they would look at me like i was nuts. The LONG TERM effects from the hospital are outweigh the immediate loss. Also the jobs will go where the money is, 25 million jobs may be lost in one industry but they will appear in another.

The Public or Congress were NOT allowed to read the bill. Congress was allowed to skim the pages right before the vote. 2 weeks ago, the bill was 200 pages, then the bill went to 1200+ pages just before the vote. This is the largest tax in U.S history from what I read in the 200 pages. No one in these comments has read the 1200+ page bill. It is stupid as hell to say this bill is good when no one has read it. Please, enlighten me as to what cap and trade is. Because from what I can see, it is a tax. It also has that deal with clean emission trading, where if a company is good to the environment, they can give their clean emission credits to companies that are not so clean. It won't change anything. Companies that pollute will simply buy their credits from other companies. There is no incentive for them to change.

Having to buy credits disincentivises pollution. Eventually it's cheaper to invest in cleaner energy production than to keep paying for emissions. I'm not sure I'm for taxing utilities further, but something is necessary to force progress and a switch to cleaner renewable sources.
