  • I have goosebumps listening to this - even on some low profile headphones.

  • slower movements are my favorites. they transport you far and away.

  • He's the winner of "Vietnam's Got Talent"!

  • his music is reaching into the depth of soul. Not showy but simply beautiful and very effective. What a true musician!!

  • The first 3 notes of the 2nd mvt. opening theme are the first 3 notes of the E major scale - a dead giveaway. Cute trivia: the closing theme of the 2nd mvt. is a slow and ethereal B-E-D#-A. Sir Arthur Sullivan (of Gilbert & Sullivan) quotes it directly in Yeomen of the Guard (Elsie's obbligato in How Say You Maiden Will You Wed a Man About to Lose His Head?). Not surprising - Sullivan spent 3 years at the Leipzig conservatory as a Mendelssohn scholar.

  • @MrCodontrenmang Sorry, it's in E major, although there is an occasional minor key cadence.

  • Who cares about E-minor or G-minor? It's just simply exciting !

  • From now on, I will spend more time listening to symphony. Really peaceful! Cheer Dang Thai Son!

  • i'm so proud of being VietNamese !!

  • And I like how non-showy Mr. Son is.

  • Wow... this is beautiful...

  • Thật tuyệt vời

  • best interpretation of this orchestra... the interaction between orchestra and piano is formidable!!

  • Dang Thai son chi ma la. du~ rua'?

  • @duchbk123123 Chứ ai nữa -.,~

  • I have always loved Mendelssohn.

I especially thank you for uploading this masterpiece. Such a beautiful music, there is almost no match to this, superior.

  • That's the way to play it, not Lang's

  • This was AWESOME !!!!!

  • Incomparable!!

  • Looks so different from chopin competition.

  • see his face, emotional, i can feel each change. That's great i searched many information of him. thanks for magicflute :)

  • This movement just enriched my life :)

  • Truely Beautiful!

  • Very very nice! The beginning sounds like the song "The Rose" x)

  • @Lity10 Actually, the first few bars of the theme from "The Rose"

sound like this movement of Chopin's piano concerto, since Chopin

preceded Amanda McBroom, the composer of the music and lyrics

of "The Rose", on this musical earth. I love "The Rose", too -- "far

beneath the winter snows, lies the seed that with the sun's love in

    the spring becomes the rose."

  • @antoniachandler Oh, nice, didn't know that. Ty :)

  • @antoniachandler : I think the melody of "the rose" is more similar to this concerto than Chopin's piano concerto. Anyway, those pieces are so beautiful and charming!

PS: Thank you, Lity10 and antoniachandler! Thanks to you guys, now I know "the rose" song. :)

  • @magicflute1510 --- sweeeet!

  • so touching!

  • This is the true artist but too bad the world still not pay enough attention on him.

  • My new idol!

  • Is this the one where Yundi Li won? or Rafal won ?

  • @singingmaster008 : Rafal

  • @singingmaster008 Yundi I think

  • great

  • His fingering seems to resemble that of Alex Weissenberg's. Watch Weissenberg playing Rachmaninoff's piano concerto and we shall see.

  • słyszycie "Kiedy ranne wstają zorze..."? A to ci psikus:)

  • beautiful

  • One time for the ASIAN

  • He never became a 'star', but he is a real artist!

Ranks among one of the best pianists of his generation: Hewitt, Pogorelich, Bronfmann, Zimerman, Schiff...

  • Don't forget, he beat out both Hewitt and Pogorelich in the 1980 Chopin Competition! Pogorelich was fast, clean, and explosive, bit lacked the inner soul of the music compared to DTS.

  • @Cissy97

I don't understand why this is the case. What' a pity. I like his sensitive play. I'd like to go to his concert if possible!

  • beautiful rendition!

  • His finger is alien fingers

  • Very beautiful piece! First time I heard this. Superbly and sensitively played with great feeling by Dang Thai Son (never heard him before but will now search for more of him)

Thank you Magicflute 1510 a lot for posting this !!! Would love to hear your Chopin too!!

  • He's 1980 Chopin concour winner, at the age of 22 !

There're many words for Dang Thai Son. He's a Viet, like me !

  • This is just the second movement. The first and third movements are faster and more exciting. Please post them, will you?!!

  • who says that a slower movment makes it less exciting? I think this this movment is very exciting...

  • @beryllium2 I agree with you. I feel it is also very beautiful and peaceful.

  • I would love the first movement.

  • Such beautiful music.

  • We love this video. Thank you very much for the posting!

  • I am Vietnamese and a layperson who only appreciates a piece by how it appeals emotionally. I simply fail to understand how such sensitive and noble embodiment by this 'genuine musician' does not draw quite the kind of critique acclaim normally lavished on other virtuoso pianists! Somebody help to explain, please!

  • Extremly Fantastic!!!

  • Wonderful!

    Do you have other mvmts?

Thanks, the clip gives me the best 6min.

  • Never lets go, does he? Wonderful!!! Orchestra is very good too.

  • "...Orchestra is very good too."This orchestra --it's Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maestro Antoni Wit!!!"

    Great performance,thanks for this video!

  • more info:

...with Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Antoni Wit

  • You are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh my God,what a pianist??He is playing this concert so nice.I can listen to him for hours!!

Thanks for uploading this great video:-))
