Nice tutorial, how do people make your classic quake videos though? The ones with a free perspective.. eg. watching the players, not from a specific player's POV? Is that still possible with QL?

@ff45t1z You need to use WolfcamQL for that. You can find it on the quake live forums. It also has a beginners guide to using it.

after cl_avidemo 90 how big are the frames going to be?

@K7Z9 Are you talking about filesize or resolution? It captures in what resolution you have enabled when recording and the filesize depends on the resolution. It's usually about 1-3mb per frame.

@IDRxDoMiNo Filesize. The problem is that my whole Quake Live folder is in disk C which is small but I have a much bigger disk D. Is it possible to change the frames save folder to D?

@K7Z9 I'm not sure if that's possible. I know you can change directories using wolfcam (a better way to record) and you don't have to deal with a load of freames, just an AVI file. I will be making a series of wolfcam tutorials fairly soon. It will be a lot better than this one.

i typed in cl_avidemo 90 when i was watching a demo and acidently i pressed the mouse wich caused to quit the demo and then when i joined a game i have this lag even in practice its imbosible to play watch this demo i recorded lagprob you caused this and now fix this!

you need to use fraps or an audio recording program. thanks to id, they didn't add an audio command, so you have to do that separately. Also, this tutorial is quite old. I need to make a new one

For recording goodness, bind keys to cl_avidemo x, so you do not have to use the console.

Also, not being able to fast forward is bullshit. Type in timescale 1-10 to make the time pass faster, the only problem is since it is not possible to rewind, you have to be careful not to miss it. Similarly, bind various timescale commands to fast forward.

Don't forget you can type let's say "timescale 10" in the console to fast foward and just enter "timescale 1" to resume normal speed. You can also do "timescale .5" for slow motion and so on.

You can also stop capturing frames by dropping the console and entering "cl_avidemo 0" and that will resume normal playback of the demo, in case you have more than 1 clip you want to capture in the demo.

Man i would already love the support of where pressing any key doesnt quit the demo. It is just way too painful to do without any binds or time the scene from the demo and use console.
