@fonkymaster Actually for many soldiers, joining the military is a way to get to enjoy the privileges that are assumed by veterans. It is a way for many of them to move forward in the world. There are other for whom serving their country, even if they are not fighting directly for it, is a great honor, and there are still others who like the disciplined lives that the military brings.
Personally, I am planning on joining the military once I get out of school, not because I want to die in some foreign land for gas rights, but because I believe that by serving, I can possibly save the lives of other American soldiers and help bring them home safe.

As much as I generally can't understand why someone would think they are protecting this country, I am glad these vets opened their eyes. It seems there are many other vets who still suck Uncle Sam's ballsack and justify everything.

@fonkymaster Actually for many soldiers, joining the military is a way to get to enjoy the privileges that are assumed by veterans. It is a way for many of them to move forward in the world. There are other for whom serving their country, even if they are not fighting directly for it, is a great honor, and there are still others who like the disciplined lives that the military brings.

@skaismith Also, I believe that, as evidenced in this video, by being a veteran, there is an amount of respect that you get, especially when speaking of the war that you fought in or things directly related to that. I do believe that fighting for America at home would be better worth it, but by helping protect other American soldiers I believe that I would be helping the country even more.
