This video is a scary example of the insanity that people are capable of. The people in this video do not have any mental disabilities, they are just showing biological traits of people being capable overlooking rationality. That is what all religion is. The scary thing is that the the tools that rational scientist give us fall into the hands of average joes. NEVER in the ENTIRE book, does Paul tell them to root out gifts that were not from God! Instead, he tells them over and over that their gifts were from God, and that he was telling them how to use them. John here takes it further than Paul ever said in the Bible!

Don't waste your time looking at the nonsense from the Nightline, Univ. of Pa, video about speaking in tongues. It's trash, and has NO Truth. It's ALL demonic. The Lord ONLY 'speaks' to us through His Word, the Holy Bible. God's Law Book, the Holy Bible, was completed in about 95 AD, and it states, NO further additions would EVER be made (Rev 22:18). This is the problem with teachers teaching on this subject, they try and teach what paul taught on the gift of tongues and interpretation which is one of the 9 gifts of the Spirit, and try and compare this with the in filling of the Holy Ghost with speaking in other tongues in Acts 2. They are not the same, and teachers like John MacArthur are teach in great error.

Paul does not say if someone uses tongues or prophecy out of order, then they are not exercising the true gift. That contradicts the text. If the prophets and speakers in tongues were using the proper order, then the chapter would not have to have been written.

The Bible doesn't say that they are not legitimate if they're not done in such and such a format-otherwise he would have told them their tongues were false-no, he was just showing them the correct way to act in church.

I agree that much change needs to be done in this respect in certain churches and certainly some people's tongues are questionable. However, John MacArthur doesn't speak in tongues, so how can he properly understand this? Like teaching a driving course but you've never driven.

I'm glad I'm not bound by the legalism of pastor MacArthur. I won't trash him for he is a man of God but I disregard his lack of sincerity on his gifts of the spirit hermeneutics. I've been to his church some time back and have some friends that are members there. He makes good points and I agree with much of what he says but he doesn't give the full spectrum of what's at hand, regarding this topic.

I've seen that kind of craziness and usually the demons in them can't stand the presence of God and act out. I had to cast out the demons off that person and she woke up.
