  • man poste a diagam

  • Please could you upload the schematic?

  • Did you try putting the JT into a Pyramid?

  • i have a solution to save energy on the battery by adding a capacitor and an extra potentiometer so you can get your joule thief in ramp pulse mode. that chould reduce the consumption.

  • I have a question that no one would answer me : how fast does the battery deplete ?

  • that is NOT a 40 W tube !!!! it's an 18 watt one

  • Dodosholodo, in the video the third coil it doesn't look like 500 turns. Seriously isn't 200 windings? Maybe looks like less windings cause you use such a big toroid. I you many layers to reach 200, and you didn't you any layer.

  • I replicate your device, but my toroid does not sing. I have no 90 V neon at the transistor maybe that is the reason?

    Thanks for answer.

  • Almost enjoyed your video--looks very interesting--too bad those pussies that work for YT are so sensitive.

    Enjoyed your others ones though!

  • Very nice work! Great video too. Excellent job.

    Bill

  • hey where did you get your pot at???mine blew when i was using just a regular Jt with 90 turns and two AA's. Mine was a 5k from radioshack.

  • I get all my stuff from jaycar(dot)com(dot)au in Australia. I also use a 5K 2W pot. try to get a pot with highest wattage rating.

The pot blows when lots of current flows through it. if the pot was wound down to a low resistance it will allow lots of current to flow thru and blow it. Make sure the resistance is atleast 1k and u wont have a problem.

I like to use a balast resistor in line with the pot so the minimum resistance will be the value of the resistor, if pot is wound down

  • u can see in this vid I have a power resistor in line with the pot to protect it. Its also to protect the 2n3055 transistor at the base. Use a 2-5W power resistor at about 300-600ohms.

This means the miniumum resistance at the base will be this power resistor protecting the pot and transistor.

  • ok, thank you for giving me all of the info! Although i have one more quick question for you. sorry! with my toroids, only one of them has worked when i would them. i wound them the same way and everything but only one of them has actually sung when i connected it. is there some special way to wind them that i don't know about so that they'll work?

  • on your toroid, is are the coils like a step-up transformer? i noticed it seems like there are two separate coils of different wire size. you wound one coil almost all the way around and it looks like you did a "secondary" winding like a transformer?

  • yes u are correct. There are 3 coils. 2 are for the standard JT circuit which we can use to also charge a secondary battery or cap.

The 3rd coil is thinner gauge and 500 turns. The JT circuit sets up the high frequency pulses, creating thousands of voltas in the secondary.

Whats interesting though is I can light 180V neons from the high voltage spike on the primary coils.

  • also resonance occurs in the coils and they "sing"

So its not quite like a normal transformer. We are trying to use the High Voltage spike that comes off the coils when the magnetic field collapses in the coils.

  • ah ok. so that third coil captures that high voltage spike and transfers it directly to the fluorescent tube? how many turns do you have for the normal JT circuit windings? i imagin that this could also run a 9 watt black light?

  • yes, the tube is connected directly to the tube.

    normal Jt yse between 50-100turns.

Yes u could run any kind of gas filled light with this.

Some work better than others, obvuisly u will draw more current with a larger wattage tube.

The shape of the tube can change how efficiently it will run as well.

Please watch all my other videos on the JT charger. they will help u understand how this light is working.

Notice also in this vid that the tube syill lights with only 1 wire connected to it..

  • I've been wondering about this CFL type circuits, wouldn't it be just as simple by making an inverter circuit with a typical step-up transformer ?

  • is the circle with the wire around it a magnet or just an iron ring

  • this is a ferrite ring, not a magnet. iron will work too

  • wtf is this crap

i dun care... i wanna fucking hear it... stupid youtube....

  • yeh i know it was a good song too.

I dont know how they knew. Im guessing they have a program that searches the audio waves of every utube video

I dont see why i cant use it anyway. im not profiting and im not stealing the music or giving it away.

  • What is the frequency going to the tube?

  • I have no idea, I haven't scoped it yet.. I will do so when I get a chance and let u know

  • I know it's far from being precise but if you can try to get a reading using your multi-meter (if it has this option) for the frequency that passes through the neon I would really appreciate. I have been reading a lot of Tesla lately and I'm very curious to find out what the frequency is.

  • my multimeter doesnt have that function unfortunately.

Ill scope it some time this week to get a measurement if u like.

    Just been very busy lately

  • Thanks. I would really appreciate. No need for a rush here :) Your positive answer is recomforting me for now ..lol :D

  • Nice I need to get into this stuff!!!

    Im missing all the fun.

  • You are missing all the fun. its not about OU, its just fun doing useful work with tiny batteries

    build one mate!

  • u got to be shitting me, they blocked the music, fucking corporate assholes. great work with the joul theif, sweet work!

  • Hello dodoshlodo, Great video !!

I see that you are using little coil winding,

how many layers? the length and gauge of wire?

Does it light up with a single AA batt? Thanks, keeping up the great work.

  • Thanx,

gauge is about 25, will work with thinner wire. Length, i dunno

Its got about 500 turns on it, 3 or 4 layers. I put a layer of tape between each layer od wire. number of layers doesn't matter, just number of turns.

with this large fluoro it doesnt work with 1xAA, but with a smaller fluoro it will work

    cheers

  • Great job! I used the modified Fuji circuit to light 2 of those tubes but you did it from scratch....very nice work...keep it up!! PS Go ahead and add a second tube...I'll bet it will light just fine.

    Bill

  • cheers Bill.

Ill try the second tube, in series or parallel?

    -shlodo

  • I did mine with an AA battery in parallel for whatever that is worth. If it does not work, try series. Great job here.

    Bill

  • amazing stuff. keep up the good work man

  • Wow!---Your video may become the famous one for this wongerful design. No words were required. Seeing is believing and the music was great. Well done.

  • great video

    good work

    love the tunes

  • Very well done dodoshlodo.

The light looked nice and bright to.

  • Notice how you are the ground? Very cool awesome vid!

  • First comment, that was truely awesome!
