This one is from the middle or so of the series, and the concept was already getting a bit tired. They obviously had a decent budget for this one, though.
Personal involvement with this one on two levels: I kept badgering my dad, who wrote many of these spots, to do one with Star Wars (being hopelessly naive at the time as to why that was impossible), and this is more or less the result. I also got to watch them mix sound for this spot.
More interesting is that this commercial inspired some Concerned Mother to write outraged letters to the ad agency over what she insisted was a subliminal insertion of the word "SEX" in this commercial. Supposedly it's spelled out by the air hose at some point, but anyone who can actually see it has got a dirtier mind than I (and I really doubt that's possible)
I love Pat's expressions in this. He looks great in that spacesuit. I'm sure it must have been hell to film, though
These were cool AAMES Commercials when I was a kid. Try to dig up some more please. Memories of the 70's.
