alright movie producers, time to start turning nes games into movies, you want good movie ideas...well start here. OH and dont put elijah wood and fuck not as the main stars, no need to ruin it from the get go....
wow, at thanksgiving I always tell people I have nothing to be thankful for, except being alive.. but now.. I can say this year "I'm thankful that some 20 years ago my mother bought me Star Tropics, as it had the greatest EFFING MUSIC EVER!!!!!!!!!!" and then I'll yell THANKS!!!!!! really loud.. LOL :D
@Bastiest i havent played Startropics 2 but i have seen the Happy Video game Nerds review of it and yeah im not gonna buy it on the Wii Vitrual Console.
Though i would love a new game on the Wii U or the 3DS.
Does anybody remember the treasure map they packaged with this game and how u had to get the password off of it by soaking it in water or something? Was I the only one SUPER STRESSED OUT by this?
I remember being stuck on that part for quite some time :P But when I eventually soaked the letter in water and the invisible writing appeared !! I was like, shiiit !!! this is so fucking awesome !! :p Its just epic.. they dont make games like that anymore.
@Potetskall As it was a cool idea back in the days it also prevented those from playing the game who didn't have the letter, which was kinda... poo...
Well, at least I had save near the end of the game where I could fetch it from the ending credits.
Sigh...this game was so very, very good. I was a proud owner and won the game with a sense of victory I haven't had in quite some time. Fantastic story, great gameplay, and of course super music!!!
This is what I can say. If SunSoft can come back to the US market and make a new Blaster Master for the Wii Virtual Console, than Nintendo can answer us fans and give us StarTropics 3!
You know what sucked, I never owned this but I used to rent it all the time and I never could get past the whale stage because they lost the book and I couldn't get that damn password off the back. Ah the days before the internet where if you were stuck...you were screwed...
This has to be my favourite game on the system. I remember the first time I ever played it. My best friend was like "ever played Star Tropics?" and I was like "what the hell's that?" popped it in and stayed up till like six in the morning cracked out on coffee and doritos...
@daracenak I disagree with that. While the original game was superior, the sequel wasn't horrible. I enjoyed both games a lot. I think it would have been a mistake to make ST2 a rehash of the original game. You'd get complaints of lack of originality or creativity from the developers. I think they did well with both games, but that's my opinion.
Love StarTropics! BUT Nintendo should leave it at the state its in now. I mean, if people start obsessing over it, then it wouldn't have the same charm. That's what happened to Earthbound ya know...
It's a shame Nintendo hasn't gone ahead with a sequel to this series on the Wii. Hell, even if they did an 8-bit kinda sequel like MM9 and released it on WiiWare, that would be cool with me.
this game was so amazing and challenging i remember they had some clue printed into the instruction manual for the console and I was like ahhh I had to break down and ask my dad to help me figure it out..great times
just downloaded from virtual console, i never played it before, hell i hate to admit that i never truly learned about this game until a week ago. i dunno how i was uninformed of this gem before! very fun so far and i particularly love the music, theres parts where simple can turn to deep if u know what i mean :q - -
XD My bro and dad would play this game and always get stuck on the last level! I loved watching them play, even though I always got scared that hey might die... :D
ISLAND COURAGE! Never played it, but I've watched DCrab's Let's Play of it, & I can definently say it's unforgiving. DCrab, on the other hand, is just crazy. We like crazy.
If there ever was a franchise I would want Nintendo to resurrect, this is it. For anyone who played this back in the day, they know how much awesomeness was packed in the cartridge.
I've only played this game about an hour, but it sure is good. Didn't have in back in the day, though. Uh, neither do I have it now. But I suppose it's worth buying.
@garudoh No kidding dude! The ONLY video game I've ever thought was a great rival to the Legend of Zelda... especially the music.. I never could decide which music I liked more, this or zelda, cause they were both epic!!!!!

@Mannetasi As much as I'd like to see ST3 as well, I am quite cynical about the idea considering what pile of turd ST2 turned out to be.

I personally liked Startropics 1 better than 2. The sequel's story wasn't as good and the music wasn't half as good as this one's either.

I agree. As the Happy Video Game Nerd said, it was Startropics 2 the one that destroyed the saga.
