i'm sure the engineers, doctors, lawyers etc. in the philippines would disagree. Poor people in the Philippines may have a diet of mostly rice, and that is unfortunate, but i know plenty of people there who eat anything they want. they have american fast food restaraunts there. you would think their obesity rate would be high but it isn't.

i still must disagreee. sure there is poverty in the philippines as is all countries. but that is not the reason why so many are slim. the majority of them don't have cable tv, a/c or a car, but they will buy food. my wife is filipino and her family had pleny of food. the reason why they are slim is because over there you will wait for a chicken to grow naturally, not with growth hormones. also; are you aware that when mcdonalds ships food to other countries there are chemicals that are absent?

Yes, Filipino food is very unhealthy, especially for those who lead sedentary lifestyles. It's o.k. for those who work in the fields, or do physical labor cause you burn it all off, but not for the rest of us.

Just came back from the PHIL. 2 DAYS AGO AFTER 15 YEARS, and sad to say that GOLDILOCKS had lost its luster among the community. There are so much more choices there now, CHOW KING, BACOLOD INASAL etc., they're fast food places but man! they taste better than how i cook..lol..was not even impressed with really sit down restaurants VILLA MARE, MAX's except for SOFITEL and MANILA HOTEL ..GOD! i miss it already...

if without the horrible traffic in Manila I would move back in a heartbeat.

goldilocks foods are overpriced i think because one time i ate there and ordered something, those beef with onion it was almost $6 i think but it's only a few chops or pieces of meat! it's like they're afraid to put more on a plate, it's like they're trying to serve those one batch for many people. i don't know there's something strange about the prices!

Seeing all the food made me homesick. I can't go more than two weeks without eating Filipino food.

My favorite is Ilocano-style sinigang w/ baboy instead of fish.

But, we have to be careful. Obesity is obviously becoming a problem in the Filipino community.
