  • prohecy of the medicine hoop -1492-1519-2012-2039 -520-year,s

  • I was born in Pine Ridge, some of my family still lives on the reservation, I am an enrolled member. No matter what race, ignorant people are ignorant. Saying the reason why Pine Ridge is full of poverty is because of the white man is the most ridiculous thing ever. Alcoholism and drug use is horrible on the Pine Ridge reservation. There is no denying that. I want better for everyone there, but if they won't help themselves, outside help will do nothing...

  • How dare you! Make us seem as if we need pity, Mitakuye pi(my relatives) we are standing here and we are doing our best and we fight still to this day against the government. Did you know my peiple couldnt speak their language in schools until 1983 way before I was born, Did u know the last boarding school was closed 1992? Did you know the govt mines uranium here and in one place has already leaked into our water and is getting my people sick?

  • Shocking reality for a complete outsider like me. I wonder if the U.S. are not ashamed of this living conditions in their heart regarding the fact that they want to bring their lifestyle to the rest of the world. If not in peace, than with military force... THIS ist really a proof of the success of capitalism!! But what you`re expecting? Does anyone really think that free market economy has something to do with HELPING or CARING for people?!? Look around to South America, Africa...

  • native americans are proud people i am oglala lakota siox we r not all drunks my dad is from pine ridge yes he is a drunk but he is tring to fix that

  • this is so sad i wish i was rich to help my brothers america wake up look we must help each other out hre in az we give a black man 8millon to catch a football and our people die from no food no shame in hawaiian culture we come together and help all people wake up quit outsorcing jobs and bring help to the rez

  • Good song

  • i think the occupy people could and should help with this.... that and i like the singing... lovely... in fact the whole video is sad and beautiful st the same time... and the fact is that help is needed by many on the reservations... however often what is offered is really no help at all but more of a hindrance to true sovereignty for the people being oppressed

  • welcome to america

  • The Lakota are a proud people??? Seriously?? It really doesnt matter how poor you are...you can still be neat and not have crap piled all over your house or your yard! I can see how proud!! At some point in life you have to take responsibility for your own happiness and stop whining about the past people!!

  • @neelaimee so wat u sayin we live like shit? i live near Pine ridge its cause of white pplz we live tht way!!!

  • Well thats not always the case. for most of you it may be easy to just leave your "current situation". But being the poorest county in the us and not being able to leave because of it. Is one thing.. But the next is trying to make a life for yourself outside of the rez. In south Dakota native Americans are treated very badly and are even denied jobs because your an indain.

  • I don't get it, the pictures that I saw were just standard housing. What was so bad? If reservaton life is so bad, why not just leave? I spent years in Wisconsin, and had numerous friends from the various reservations--I worked with them. They were full blooded Indians but one would never know it. They were just like everyone else--there was no discrimination. Not only that, but they received a monthly stipend just for being Indian. You should be more specific.

  • @faultroy Well thats not always the case. You see it may be easy to just leave your "current situation". But being the poorest county in the us and not being able to leave because of it. Is one thing.. But the next is trying to make a life for yourself outside of the rez. In south Dakota native Americans are treated very badly and are even denied jobs because your an indain.

  • I'm getting kind of tired of this focus on Native People... show something good for a change.

  • i think peaple should not be so mean to each other if there was more peace in this wourld it would be a better place and i believe indiens should have the right to have dignity and peace to they were here first this is really there land we should respect it and listen to them maybe we could learn something like how to be nice to others and peace for mother earth and we can learn more about our land from them it would be good.

  • Many Lakota and other Native Peoples DO move off the reservation. Many times it is for a better way of life or education. Many move back to help their families and the People. Native Peoples' way of thinking about "the land" is very different from a European's. It is more than dirt. It is history, traditions, relationship. It is sacred.

  • get rid of the reservations, stop giving welfare (its traded for beer money anyways). Give them a chance to pull themselves out of the gutter the goverment keeps enabling them to live in. When you give free food, medical/housing, of course they are going to be lazy and drink beer all day long, i know the ridge is an alcohol free place, but white clay is about 50 feet from its border. By the way, I believe all of the natives that haven't been damage by FAS to be highly intelligent talented people

  • this shouldent happen to any people !!! but the fact is it looks like neighborhoods here in mississippi.... no joke!!!

  • Boo! Reservations suck Ass! But hey...its home...

  • Simply put, people have forgotten how to CARE and love.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition is building elaborate homes for people who can't even afford the electric bills! For people who scam the network just to get a house.

What about Extreme Makeover doing the largest project ever -- Homes of Hope ..on Pine Ridge. Even if they are apt style, it's better than what is there.

Do they care? Could they do a show like this?? Anyone care to start a petition?? I wouldn't know where to start....

  • Revenge is the only word, 'that' does not stand in military terms, as a military action, therefore; when a military unit commits revenge, there 'is' no honor. Revenge is the only word you could put on this stupidity of killing old women, men and children. What honor is there in such an action? Therefore, rescind the Medals of Honor for the Wounded Knee Massacre (battle, in military terms).

Read the epic novel Rescue at Pine Ridge, 5 stars Amazon Int., the story of the revenge, and redemption.

  • the natives own their land ?the natives can do what they want to on their land?when will a native come forward and lead these people to self reliance through renewable energy and outher fincial freeing activites to bring about a better tomorow for all the forgoten people of this country.their is power in these comunites if they would only come together for the good of all.who will start this journey? will u?

  • They say the last battle of the native people, we did not fight that fight, but since this day we do, every day we fight to regain our self, to regain what is ours our land, our respect, our responsibility to our self and our people to heal, we need education and stand for freedom on our on land! Stop, look be hide the foot steps that we see, we must continue … to go forward in freedom

  • As an OGLALA LAKOTA, i am not proud of what these ska's have done to our people and tiospayes. but i believe its time to make a stand, if we can put together a powwow. we can overcome them and their ways, lets turn this america BS around, sick of these Ska's and SAPA's(aren't you). if your white and reading this, "watch what you say".

  • These people are to busy getting drunk and blaming the white men for their problems to help themselves.

I feel no pity for them at all just disgust

  • Im a Native from Yaqui/Apache nation.....to ya looking in from the outside it hurts you....but in reality they have great sprits, family, love just because they are Native Americans asking for help and for ppl to say forget about them is wrong they are Humans...walking living breathing ppl when someone reachs out for help we as ppl humans help one another thats what God wants love your neighbor....xoxo alyssa

  • Americans have rights just if they are "americans", not "native americans". If you came first on a land you must be destroyed or die, because, I, "american" I want your country, your resources, everything and anything. You? Will be better if you die, if not, what can I do with you...I cannot kill you, because I don;t want people know I am a criminal, because is not good, I think I'm gonna "put "you in camps.

  • @slamufa, this is a sarcastic remark, I presume and hope?

  • @Eirene001 I think he's quoting the government..

  • its ashame these assholes are protesting on wall st because they have too much education and want a 100,000 yr job instead of a min wage job and nobody cares or knows about the suffering of these great proud people

  • Watch 20/20 on ABC news.com these people need our help. Help Robert looks twice and others there please. Peace

  • ......Wake up.....! the Native People don't find "the only pleasure seems to be drinking alcholol......" perhaps if you stopped to talk, maybe then you would hear there are some who want to help to better their people's way of life. Driving thru and taking pictures is not the only way to 'see' the Native People.

  • @MyLor8

Thank you for speaking up. Stupid, no-it-all, arrogant spiders.

  • @MyLor8 i agree!

  • @MyLor8 i agree that those kind of misrepresentations come from a lack of first hand experience ... that and arrogant ignorance

  • nice nice music! Danke

  • After staying awake for 48hrs I received a vision from The Great Spirit. I saw black hills, and I was told I must follow The Red Road. I am to be both pupil and teacher. I am posting these videos on FaceBook. If any of The People have any advice, or suggestions, or you just want to tell me to go to hell, I will "friend" you. My name is Kevin Coyne. In my Profile picture I am a Crew Chief posing with my Blackhawk Helicopter, 27yrs ago. Thank you. Hoka Hey! It is a good day to die!

  • I lived in Pine Ridge for five years. Tge Lakota people were very nice, I learn a lot about why they were didn't truth many of the white people. The rice white people around the rez, were the one''s the sold booze. I pray they soon get together and be the proud people I lived among, back in the sixtys.

  • Being of Irish decent and as one who has read much and seen much. I read all these comments and look at the videos on YT. I have been looking at various Native American videos for 2 days, many hours. Some parts of the Rez are probably nice but there is so much poverty and despair. What can be expected when you drive a people to the brink, conquer them, humiliate them, take them from their ancestral homelands, forbid them to practice their religion and customs, take away their children...

  • all lakota people marked in red...not all lakota's i am dakota. lakota's are not the only sioux's. and why haven't alot of your people got off the rez and go out into the world i did, nobody helped me. I made it all on my own. college education and a good job. no parents to help me. so i dont believe the logic about this at all. it's just another way of saying i dont want to go out into the world i want to stay right here and complain. hau, mitaku yuapi..aho

  • Their way of life was taken; they had to depend on promises of a govt that seemed to not care, then nor now. Do your history homework. This was their land. They were taken from their ancestral lands and placed where the great white father in the east commanded. Some came from Georgia where it was lush and fertile, the climate mild and taken to reservations where the land was hard, rocky and the weather was cold and harsh. Yeah, they brought it all on themselves. They really asked for it, right?

  • @meenah62 Not like they cant move of the reservation ? they have the smarts to go to college become what ever they want to me become do they not? why stay on the reservation and bitch about it yes the white man fucked them over and that is bs stand up and make a change show them that you are better and can do it just sayin

  • First; I'm white. Second, let's list the things the Lakota and other Nations did to bring this on themselves. Be cheated and lied to, had land stolen, soldiers purposely killed their main source of food (Buffalo), clothing and shelter, assimilation by the whites, genocide, treaties written then broken-repeatedly and in order to care for their people, their chiefs signed, sometimes with a rifle to their heads. They were placed on reservations so white settlers can have the land. (cont.)

  • WoW! this video is making the REZ look REALLY BAD, it aint even this bad

  • Why do the people who come on to our reservation look at the negitive, and no the positive?

  • People are always looking at the negative in the community!! Never the good! And that is what's wrong with most people who visit pine ridge...

  • They created their own environments on the reservations. Enough pity parties. They did this to themselves!

  • 180 Likes-- THEN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT than just VIEW.......

  • I lived in stecker Oklahoma on the Kiowa reservation. It felt like this almost every day. It's not easy you just have to keep strong. We're a strong people. All natives no matter the condition.

  • Us. native people are easily judged by the whiteman, it's not our fault the whiteman ruined are cultures and lifes as it already were/is... There are some racist people but not very many now adays... we are all equal in one way. but no we are class A canadians...

We were once royal natives until they bought liquor upon us.. enough said! i'm still proud to be native, got a problem go fck yourself

  • im tired on people profiling pine ridge like its the worst rez in america i think white people still have a BAD TASTE in their mouth since the day we killed custer and his illiterate cowboys and forever want to vilify the Lakota Nation!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW...THIS is what you see when you come to visit our reservation? You dont hear the language and the songs? You dont see the homes that many of our women have created and sustain through sheer will!? Can't you look past the surface and see OUR PEOPLE..we are not poverty, we are not third country...we are not some pitiful race of people...WE ARE STILL HERE...DONT RELEGATE US TO POSTER CHILDREN FOR YOUR SYMPATHIES!

  • I have to say that I'm really shocked to see this video. A lot of people like me that have heard about the beautiful culture of the Lakota people have no idea they actually live in these conditions today. Ignorant, yes, we live in ignorance of what their lives are like. To be honest i can't begin to understand as to why they have to live like this, and then the goverment turns the other cheek as if poverty in the USA doesn't even exist.

  • some of our villages in Alaska are just as bad, if not worse. domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, poverty and alcoholism are really bad. some are trying to be the change they want to see in the world. some are pulling together to help each other.

  • oh shuddup i live there and its not as bad as they make it seem this european person or whatever is very bad and stupid its not always osni its also hot too... this person is racist there way more prettier places then just east ridge and white and fyi tht person alseep isnt even in pine ridge there in nebraska whiteclay this european person needs to get suid

  • @kathryn9503, this video was never put up here to provoke nasty reactions by anyone. It was put up here a few winters ago, because the Lakota themselves were issueing alarm calls about their situation with many people not being able to heat their homes in the cold winter coming up. By the way, wherever I am from, I am, as you are, living in a country that sustains freedom of speech, so I have used my basic right here.

  • @Eirene001 Well done to you very articulate n heartfelt!!! The U.S government have always treated these native folk in an awful way n it sadly will never change!!! Love to you Eirene n all x

  • @Eirene001 Well done to you very articulate n heartfelt!!! The U.S government have always treated these native folk in an awful way n it sadly will never change!!! Love to you Eirene n all x

  • @Eirene001

This was an accurate and truthful video!! i have many brothers and sisters who live here, and things are as bad as you portrayed. Wonderful job!

  • @1LisaEllis now, you make a video, talking to ppl who live there. and post it.

  • Because life is suffering, atrocities like what happened to the Tibetans and Native Americans and African Americans, should not amaze us. But we all have light within us, and can break the cycle of suffering through compassion for ourselves as much as others. Peace to all.

  • @kathryn9503 Wow, I didn't realize that. I'm glad for the Lakota people, but it makes me mad that I listed to that lying Tiokasin Ghosthorse and donated to ChangingWinds (dot) org to help the Lakota kids through the harsh winters. I'll know better now.

  • @kathryn9503

    Tell it, kathryn.

  • woww. i am lakota souix. i havent been back to my home town since i was 7. im glad i saw this. something has to be done. thanks for the video.

  • poor lil girl...2:20 i wish i can help

  • Peace-loving people? The town of Pine Ridge itself is the most racist, hatred-filled town in USA. They murder and attack white people passing through. The history of how the white people treated these poor people is pretty disgusting, but that is the past. They have their opportunity to make a good life for themselves, but instead they trash everything they own and live in poverty because they cling to their painful past. Instead of trying to work and make a life for themselves.

  • Hi, this stuff seriously operates effectively, I discovered an even more polished model of it at roulettecash*org without cost, and i also created some significant money.

  • But.......why do they live like this??? In USA??? Is it possible??? Is there a racist discrimination in USA? I am sorry, I am an European and I thought that the native Americans are US citizens just like all others.

  • @MissNephrit, yes, it is possible. There´s a lot of discrimination everywhere, although there are laws that prohibit it. Basically, all people have the same rights, but the reality is much different. Look around you and you`ll find enough evidence of the truth of the matter. There´s lots of evidence on YouTube as well. Open your eyes.

  • @Eirene001

Laws and private property were first used during Jackson's presidency to enforce Indian marginalization, and to coerce them westward, hence the Trail of Tears. There was much deception and lies on behalf of rich white landowners and politicians, who promised the Indians their land, then divided it up and sold it to speculators. Check out A People's History of the U.S. to learn more from the perspective of the working class, women, Indians, and Blacks in our history.

  • @MissNephrit oh we r... im a native american and my reservation is just a lil way from the one u see.. pine ridge is the poorest rez in the usa. there is alot of rascist tention between the whites and natives but only in some parts. but pine ridge is a bad place

  • @bluebird514 Pine Ridge is not a bad place....

  • @MissNephrit

INDIANS WERE NEVER ABLE TO FIT THE MODERN WORLD AND THE EUROPEAN MENTALITY. THE SO "CIVIL" AMERICA LOCKED THEM INTO SLUMS.... THEIR HATE AGAINST INDIANS IS UNEXPLICABLE.

  • @MissNephrit Natives are US citizens. But they are mistreated, but so are the Blacks. ANd even the Whites!

  • @MissNephrit BECAUSE WE WANT TO LIVE WITH OUR KIND NOT WITH EUROPEANS WERE DIE HARD NATIVES AS YOU SHOULD NO WE RATHER GO WITH THEN BE A SELLOUT

  • @MissNephrit The Native American Indians always have these kinds of videos to squeeze more money for their tribes from the government. In all seriousness these people did this to themselves. Most Native Americans around my area are either alchoholics, thugs or panhandlers with the exeption of about 10 of the Native People who i am friends with. Please dont play into this. Its really not what it looks like. Take a walk in memorial park in Rapid City, SD youll understand.

  • @TheIronPitbullSpeaks "These people did this to themselves..."!? Do you have any knowledge of the history in your area for the past two or three hundred years? Get an education Hill Billy.

  • @MissNephrit Recently in the USA racial discrimination is becoming a thing of the past. Now people are discriminated by economic or social status. Unfortunately on Indian Reseverations many of the problems they have are their own. Natives choose not to be a part of American society because in their hearts they believe it is wrong. Before the first European settlers came these people had a way and certain degree of control over their life. They saw the land as a land of plenty.

  • @MissNephrit Whites live like this in the USA too. There are still a lot of hillbilly types around in mountain areas living in bizarre conditions in shacks with newspaper and magazines used as wallpaper. There are poor people everywhere in the USA. Indians have it particularly rough, but even in what might be considered wealthy elite areas like New England, you can see some interesting poverty conditions.

  • @MissNephrit They are citizens it's just some of them "not all" dont give a shit about anything..

  • @MissNephrit ..they use equal rights and jusitce...but the truth is behind all the disquise

  • @MissNephrit .... ha ha ha they talk about equal rights and justice...all that is a disquise, there's only a select few that recieve that treatment and more if you try to say something wrong about them, they use a specific word to say that you are against them, the truth is ugly but it's there, and it will resurface at do time.

  • @MissNephrit So Did I - and I live here. I had no idea where they had gone...and I'm in my late 30's. How awful.

  • how is this even remotely surprising to anyone who knows American history the government tried to wipe ndns out long ago and do you think they stopped? look around if your not white above average wealth and christian you are an enemy of the state. get real people its not jus on the rez. its everywhere!

  • You gotta make the men go out and earn money to send back to the rez like the illegal immigrants do for their own countries. You guys can do it legally. Require all able bodied and qualified members to join the service for at least four years and you can start passing down that well disciplined and positive attitude to help control drug and alcohol abuse.

You guys could be RICH! HAPPY! And have all that land.

    TAX FREE!

    Do it.

  • @olmecbones Does it look like we want to go and help the people that just threw us away? Of course there are different oppinions.

  • @GirlOfTheCherokee11 Most, if not all of the people who 'threw us away' are dead now.

    .

*@OP When you approve comments, it's makes it harder to have an honest dialog with other people. I guess that's one enemy Humans will always have no matter how sincere their intentions may seem, controllers of the flow of information*

  • @olmecbones: join!. are you kiddin, join the same service that forced us on these concentration camps.

  • @7thunder Why do you think you're trapped and forced into 'these concentration camps' as you say? Are you a brainless invalid? You live in America, you're free to go wherever you want, whenever you want

I just don't understand. I left and made a better life for my family. This country is not as oppressive as you might think. Try going to abroad and you'll see some real oppression

But you go ahead and stay bound to those invisible powers that force you. Go ahead, live in the past, stay weak.

  • my hart goes out too your people

  • Move off the reservation, get a job, clean up your act, and your lives will improve!!!

  • @victorcrownvictor even sober and intelligent youth who graduate from HS and move away for employment do okay. But no matter how clean you are. We can never wash the red off our skins. That all most white employers see first. Learned that from exp. and I do have a job and take care of my kids and 5 nieces and nephews. I love god an try to do right best I can. When you cherish life it has its own rewards.

  • respectfully: is this poverty or just being lazy? . you don't have to be rich to clean your yard. i live below the poverty level too. but i can keep up my 10 x 16 foot shed that i live in clean. i think maybe depression or living off of the state can bring individuals down to where they cannot be productive. why is every home ,yard, etc. crappy looking.. i've seen POORER people live better than this. i am not trying to be a smartass either.

  • @buildmyownharley -Respectfully; do you mean clean as in water that IS DRINKABLE? or clean as in the iner-city noise pollution? or maybe it's ALL the contaminated soil that has washed away into THE OCEAN never to return? probably the air that has been causing all them pesky alergies....maybe they have a sickness .....and are being acused of the disease

  • heyy i live in Pine Ridge ,SD Its slowly gettin better but to me its not that bad but please next time would u try to kinda focus on the good things because this kinda affended me

  • As a cherokee native who is res descended, i both do and dont pity these people. the problem for many reservations is the people do not try to help themselves, drugs and alcohol are majorly abused as it says in the vid. why do they not protest against the gov 4 their rights, or publicise their sorrows, and make it known to the world the people need help on pine ridge. yet, they seem to not want to do so. i would pity these people if they were trying to fix this problem. I pity the children.

  • @bradt4evr Uh Brad.. Yes, they do got to help themselves... but you really can't turn back the clock..... I too grew up on the rez. theres alot of stuff that people are dealing with thats been passed down, and maybe been going on for years and the only way they know how to deal with it is.. ie. Alcohol abuse. Drug abuse..suicide.. it sucks to here alot of Our people choose that way. happens from new mex to alaska.. but its still there. our PEOPLE need help all over.

  • @bradt4evr

    drugs n

alcohol are a problem everywhere and for hundreds of years every time they tried to make a stand they all got slaughtered....lands were stolen litterally. disease and death ravaged a land that we had and have much love for....thats how they were broken and oh yes we do make a stand today...would you wanna be shot for opening your mouth2 gotta learn more history dude. i love native people and am from zia pueblo..

  • wow, here America is too focused on helping underdeveloped countries, sticking it's nose in other country's business...What about about the people they have dumped on here? These people deserve better.

  • Hey you took my picture @ 2:34 haha j/k thats not me im from pine ridge. And i luv my rez.

  • @spidez8407 HEY SPIDEZ,DO YOU STILL LIVE THERE?

  • IN 1862 ABE LINCON ORDERS 38 LAKOTAH men to be hanged with no trial.....

  • i will remember these people when i iperce at sun dance this june.....

  • can any one tell who is singing in this video???????

  • @7thunderstone, the song is from the CD "Spirit Mountain", the title of the song is 'Lakotah Women's Song From the Third Circle, sung by Sissy Goodhouse.

  • if all our tribes in canada, usa seperated both our gov would have to deal with us on a nation to nation basis, right now its nation to extermination of a nation....

  • You have to help yourself. Leave Pine Ridge. The Tribe is obviously run by people who have no business running anything. The blame game...thats all your going to here! All the Outsiders shouldnt feel sorry for all the Alcoholics, they choose that lifestyle. And all the gang kids choose that lifestyle also...WE ARE NOT ALL DRUNKEN FOOLS wanting sympathy or your understanding. A big part of the suicide problem is that the kids see all of the crap going on , and who wouldnt feel hopeless...

  • @MegaDarryl1960 OH.YEAH like they have tons of money to move any where they want....

  • @MegaDarryl1960 you do have to understand THEY HAVE NOTHING!! NOTHING..maybe you should feel sorry for these people who never asked for this.for them having a warm blanket is a big deal..HOW DARE WE CRITICIZE A PEOPLE FROM THE COMFORT OF A WARM HOME&COMPUTER,WHILE THEY LIVE IN SHAKES

  • I think that was in reference to me right 7thunderstone?, if so then they will do exceptionally well!!! the exterior is double walled which is about 12" thick when complete, this gives the walls about a R26 rating double standard home insulation!! This home will also have a rock mass heater built into the floor of the home for direct heating!!

  • @TheDudeRulez09 WOW AGAIN AWSUM NEWS..THEDUDERULES..PEDAMAH-YELLOW (THANK YOU) ON BEHALF OF ALL OUR PEOPLE, YOU HAVE A GOOD HEART..

  • peace

  • @jmg1957 TOTALLY AWSOME NEWS:Question: how will these type of homes handle the harsh cold winters?

  • I am headed to Pine Ridge in July to run a natural building workshop teaching how to build homes from natural materials and waste materials, the house will be made from pallets and in filled with light straw clay an earthen plaster will be applied on the interior and exterior of the home, i build these type of houses where I live in Texas, I am looking for volunteers, and I am taking 8 apprentices to learn this method of home building, for more info click my name and go to my website, see you!!

  • it is up to the lakota and the lakota alone to break all the weak imagines that white folks present in their films and writings! even if one feels sympathy to the lost one's of the tribe, This is so my grandmother a full blood Cheyenne said if you don't do it yourself nobody will do it for you.

  • @befranklintoo

right on..you are so right your grandma is proud of you for remembering her wisdom.so lets find some one to burn WHITE CLAY to the ground.we cant go on the war path in open fight but we can fight for our lives

  • that guy is taking five at 2:32

  • you say we live in a free country, #1 in the world. and people say it is indian land or they are solvern people, visit a rez neare you for a long enough time and you will relize it's not a boll of cherry's. will ask your self "what is a reservation?" It is a plase of the worst suffering native people endured ever. it's a "Concentration camp."many of our men fought in ww2 they played a huge part in freeing the jewish people only to come home and put back in the USA version of the camps.

  • CRAZY HORSE DIDNT WANT THIS, SITTING BULL DIDNT WANT THIS, AMERICAN HORSE DIDNT WANT THIS....WHITE CLAY MUST GO..!!! AND WE NEED ONE WARRIOR TO TAKE A STAND AND BURN WHITE CLAY TO THE GROUND...JUST DO IT THEN TAKE OUR PEOPLE TO A SPIRITUAL CAMP AND HEAL THEM WITH YUWIPI AND FASTING AND SUNDANCES...

  • CRAZY HORSE DIDNT WANT THIS, SITTING BULL DIDNT WANT THIS, AMERICAN HORSE DIDNT WANT THIS....WHITE CLAY MUST GO..!!! AND WE NEED ONE WARRIOR TO TAKE A STAND AND BURN WHITE CLAY TO THE GROUND...JUST DO IT THEN TAKLE OUR PEOPLE TO A SPIRITUAL CAMP AND HEAL THEM WITH YUWIPI AND FASTING AND SUNDANCES...

  • is there anyway too help

  • About 95 million Native Americans were killed.

  • god bless all natives on pine ridge. stay true to your self and your beautiful culture.

  • As a Latin American i feel nothing but absolute respect for the people of the first nations , and i pray that GOD may hear their plight in the mist of their needs as a people. I'M from the common wealth of Puerto Rico, but for what ever reason i feel compassion for these beautiful , extraordinary , but forgotten people. my hat comes off for you 150% stay true to your culture, and don't give up , god bless.

  • Education is the only way up the mighty white man's latter....I know I have been claiming it for 44 years;;;;Guess what, I am on the third step....And, back to college.

  • If the Lakota people were immigrants they would be treated better. The government only wants people who will help to fill the corporate coffers amd make the rich richer

My heart bleeds for my people

  • Funny, I looked very hard and did not see government agents forcing then to drink alcohol, nor did I see armed guards keeping them confined to the reservation. But why take responsibility for your own failure when it is much easier to blame everybody else for your problems.

  • @brscth You are a genius. I agree with you. People need to be responsible for their own actions.

  • @ brscth WE DONT BLAME EVERBODY FOR OUR PROBLEMS...US NATiVE AMERiCAN PEOPLE DiDNT ASK TO BE PUT ON RESERVATiONS, THiS LAND WAS OURS FiRST, THE MOTHERFUCKERS ON THE MT RUSHMORE AiNT THE FOUNDERS OF THiS GREAT LAND..BUT HEY, NOBODY CARES..AND WHY SHOULD YOU! THEY TOOK SOMETHiNG THAT WAS RIGHTFULLY OURS, AND THEY PUT US ON RESERVATIONS AND GAVE THE REST OF (OUR) LAND TO GREEDY WHiTE PPL...iF U DONT LiKE MY PPL THEN Y WERE U WATCHiNG THiS, JUST MOVE AROUND! AND DONT HATE!! NATIVE PRIDE!!

  • i cried when i watched this :( its soooo sad! wish i could help....but in faaar faaar away..

  • Don't give them money. They will just buy alcohol.

  • Isn't there a way to get everyone's attention to show them what is happening to these people, any way at all?

This is not fair, this is not right!

  • WASNT THIS SHIT HOLE LAND ON GANGLAND WAT A JOKE, NO WONDER UR PEOPLE R FUCKT UP.

  • Wait a minute. They can't afford food, but they can afford ALCOHOL??? Why don't they use their ALCOHOL money to buy FOOD? That would be smarter. It seems the problem here is not just poverty. It's a lack of ability to PRIORITIZE.

  • @SexyDeltaFox sorry your ignorance is so vague but really time to get a clue you dumb ass

  • DELTA: I think you miss the point. This video honestly addresses pathologies of alcohol abuse, family breakdown, poverty, etc among Pine Ridge Natives. ANY addiction can be overpowering & strong. Thus when you already don't have anything...don't feel you will ever have anything...what's the point in fighting against destructive habits? Some people learn to DEPEND on alcohol/drugs to make themselves feel better about themselve & they drown out the pain. Alcohol becomes what they think they need.

  • It doesnt cost a dime to pick up after yourself, and I have a hard time feeling sorry for people living in a dirty house. I do feel sorry for the children that have no choice because their parents cant pick up. You can be poor and not be dirty. That is the part I have a hard with. If you cant take care of the basics in your house how you expect to have anything at all? So many things are a CHOICE and it doesnt matter what the hell race you are, your life is what you make of it.

  • I am 100% down with the Indians, but just because you are poor, does not also mean you have to live as poor trash. I live in Georgia, and right across my street, it looks identical, a trash pit because that is how those people are. On my side, its spotless, organized, clean. Their damn kids throw trash on the road, I go out there and pick it up, and plant wildflower seed. Love the earth, be stewards of it, and protect it from defilement. I am not poor - I am wealthy beyond measure.

  • My native brothers need Jesus in their life!!

  • If You cannot find jobs/education/opportunity on the failed reservations LEAVE and you will find Americans who will go outa their way to help you become a success. A parent or community that only knows povery will not have the answers or power to help a young native. Most all Americans are ready and willing to help YOU. Try It Today! Accept that life is hard for everyone and roll with it.

  • I have never been to this place. it was said earlier that the people want to live there. I agree they do, I dont blame them. the sad part is more land use to belong to them before it was taken away from their ancestors. Would I want to move from there if I were in their shoes? NOPE. It is the land of their people. My problem is why was so much land taken from their people to begin with? Why did the "white" man go what they did? No Gov't official can tell the truth about that!

  • I love the native american people. They are the greatest people I will ever know. BE PROUD TO BE WHO YOU ARE.

  • WHY THE FUCK DOES IT SAY "INDIAN RESERVATION"

WOW RACIST WHITE PEOPLE NOT ONLY SLAUGHTERED, RAPED, AND TORTURED THE NATIVE AMERICANS, BUT ALSO TOOK THERE RIGHTFUL NAME!!!!!

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    FUCKKKING BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • No justice in America. They proud themselves in helping others, but they don't even take care of their fellow Americans. America is a divided nation that's on it's way down.

  • @freedomfighterone its not an issue of america, its an issue of humanity being selfish

  • @haidarwazahra. so true, people don't deserve this! no one does. it makes me sad how selfish people can be ..

  • I live in the middle of nowhere Wash. State Just as cold & Desolate as So Dac. Hard work drives poverty away . As long as our government pays natives not to work the typical results of a failed welfare state will result. Crime - Utter Poverty - Misery - fatherless children

It happens everywhere it is tried South Africa, American Inner cities, USSR or as we see here the American Rezervations.

The only way it will ever stop is if the native people turn thier back on the government check.

  • i'm half irish and half sioux. i'm having my account draw up some papers this year to begin a non profit charity program headed by me to funnle food and many other things to the place where my father was born. pine ridge sd. i'm also a musician and will use my tallents to forward events. my indian handle is tatonka hunska ishnalla.

  • This is not a case of America rewritting history. But a case of ignoring it. There by rewriting it subversevly when the tribes are extinct America can press on with god bless the land of the free

    Quote ?

" there are non so enslaved than those that belive they are free "

  • it seems to me that first nations told the govt 200 years or so ago that they DIDNT WANT TO BE ON RESERVATIONS the government didn't listen then and they're not listening now. we have to help them be heard, that's the answer, they want to be self sufficient, they don't want to be controlled and owned by the government like property. listen up people.

  • thank you for sharing this with us. Like you, I am a European who has many Native American friends (including one in the Pine Ridge Reservation). Everyone should be aware of the conditions many Indian people have to endure today, everybody. European settlers caused this, we have to fix it.

  • I spent living 5 yrs. near Red Lake Reservation. I had lots of friends from the Lakota nation and the Ojibwe Nation. I can say that this is a damn shame. I have been told by many white people that the United States Goverment gave people on the Rez. Well built houses and money and so on. Looks to me like if they did well they did not do a good Job keeping up on helping. Obama talks a good talk lets see some action otherwise he will be like those before him.

  • forget waiting on resperations riot the damn country.

  • peace

  • you have valid points but let me just say i'm from the pine ridge reservation and it pisses me off when people go on and on about the poverty and substance abuse.

people get help with things like that. another thing that ticks me off is how people rag on the government so much!! at least people get food stamps (E.B.T) still. just think of all the other countries around the world that don't have a helping government and have to live on 2 dollars a day to feed a family of five!!

  • 90% of NA's on reservations in the US get government assistance from DC. The problem is that poverty will of course exist if you live in a desolate area with no resources and no jobs. I feel very bad for the residents of pine ridge, and I wish that they would consider leaving the area or at least asking their children to go to college and make better lives for themselves. All I'm saying is it it way too simple to simply blame the government.

  • MIC...I don't think Native relatives should leave Pine Ridge/Rosebud, etc. But they need to do is fight fire with fire. The sacred burial grounds should be kept in tact & any other set apart land. The rest should be carefully used so the people can be self-sufficient. There's much that can be done by the tribes themselves-- rock quaries, certain types of mills, green energy plants, indoor farming, etc. At the end of the day, Natives won't owe a dime & our men will have year-around work.

  • @mlc2005 : Your point on the REAL needs of Pine Ridge & other rez communities is WHY I stress it's time to become self-sufficient. If we try hard & garner tribal & financial support, WHY can't we have green energy plants put in for severe winters, in-door farming versus in-ground, vocational programs taught at the local high school, and other efforts to put our men to work and to build hope? I do think it's time to discard the hopelessness and powerlessness we all feel and just start doing.

  • @mlc2005 I'm native american, born and raised on the reservation and have yet to see the money that many say we get. The only way I found to get away from the reservation was to go to school at a University and found that I was an outcast just because I was different (Maybe my native heritage). So, I dropped out and enlisted in the U.S. Navy (recently retired after 20 yrs) I made alot of friends and became successful in my current business making six figures. Support = success at least for me.

  • I agree we are ignoring the important, and whats important isnt being looked at, easier to turn the other way to see Beyonce or Gaga, dotn get me wrong I like them and all but we have way more important things that need advertised and learned about. Its not just Pine Ridge that is like this, its nearly every reservation, my reservation is like this, but not as severe. People do turn to alcohol and drugs to forget their lives and the way they live, its sad and depressing.

  • Before the european they (native) lived off the land thousands of years and were good stewarts. Look what the white endo accomplished in a few hundred????

  • This made me sad.

I'm a Lakota from Eagle Butte, SD,

but the difference between me and that,

is that I didnt let the Rez hold me down.

I did something with my life.

They need jsut need to find their strength

and get back on their feet.

  • I am Native American, and I live in South Dakota. You are Dutch, and you are from the Nederlands. You have got it good there. Harsh summers, cold winters, yea daily life for us. But you did do a good job on what daily life is like.

  • Blesslings to you for posting and reminding. There is much more that residents there could do. Stay away from White Clay. Clean y
