  • So, out of curiosity, filming the elephants for one minute constitutes what they do all day?

  • Powerful! I am working on the NATURAL BRIDGE ZOO for ASHA. She lives alone, a very unahappy life of abuse. OUR GOAL - for all incarcerated elephants to be freed and retired to THE ELEPHANT SANCTUARY in Tennessee. ~TRIUMelePHANTS for ASHA abd every zoo and circus elephant.

THANK YOU FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL VIDEO!

  • Very nicely done. I'm proud to have been a high school classmate and known you when you were a star student. Jonathan

  • It's shameful that these beautiful, intelligent animals should have to go through this. Write to the zoos--and your congressman!

  • Teaching a child about animals by taking them to a zoo is like teaching them about sex by making them watch porn. It's all staged and neither resembles reality.

  • Heartbreaking...

  • lroy65: did you WATCH the video? Do these elephants look "hopeful, positive and well-loved"? I'm sorry you're exposing your 5 children to such cruelty. You are teaching them that it's o.k. to ruin the lives of these intelligent, caring animals for their own "entertainment" (the average view of the elephants - adults and kids alike is 90 seconds) And it IS an elephant yard - and a very small one at that. Less than one acre for 3 massive animals.

  • True, they live in a zoo with amazingly, educated, passionate caretakers. .. .perhaps, they are feeling restricted, but most likely, they are feeling hopeful, positive and well loved? This is NOT a Yard...it's the address for the The Woodland Park Zoo which has created a warm, loving environment for the elephants. I have 5 children and have witnessed since 2000, sometimes on a weekly account, the success, thriving and well being of the Woodland Park Zoo Elephants.

  • Absolutely heartbreaking! What in the world possesses humans to treat these majestic animals like that? Or any other caged animals, for that matter? Beautiful vid though, statement was made right to the point! Thanks!!

  • A friend just wrote:

Subtle, understated and very moving because of it. Good job. How the hell did elephants end up in a yard in Seattle WA?

  • All this, so humans can be amused? My, what small-minded, self-indulgent, careless creatures some of us are.

  • it is heartbreaking to watch this - I hate zoos - I think no animal should have to live in a zoo but especially NOT elephants... they are too intelligent and need to keep moving. So sad.

  • These magnificent beings spend their entire lives incarcerated for the benefit of a few unthinking and greedy humans. Give them the freedom they so richly deserve.

  • Good work.

  • Excellent and the point is effectively made.

  • Great Job - great message!

  • Well done! This video really captures the sadness and isolation these elephants feel on a daily basis. You have to wonder if our 30 sec. glance at them when we visit the zoo is worth it. They are literally sacrificing their lives & happiness for that brief look, it just isn't worth it. We have so many other options.

  • Heartbreaking. Make it stop for them.

  • Nice work Alyne and everyone! Thank you for all you are trying to do for the Woodland Park elephants.

  • This film is Haiku for the plight of elephants in zoos. It has distilled this issue down to its essence.....Woodland Park Zoo, let them go!

  • makes me sad.

  • give these elephants the room to move not kept in a small enclosure

  • This is so wrong...it makes me so sad. Why, oh why can't they do the right thing and send these beautiful unhappy creatures to the Sanctuary in Tennessee?

  • I agree

  • Something definitely has to be done! This is truly unbelievable! I can't believe that this is legal!!! There should be legislation AGAINST this inhumane act!

  • I couldn't agree more.

  • Delicious animation (hand-slathered, I imagine?), heartbreaking message (that rocking motion says it all). Elephants don't make sense for small zoos, and rarely make sense for larger ones.

Incredible that they wander so much in the wild! This is a prison of innocents.

  • The behavior you see (elephant swaying back and forth) is the typical behavior of all elephants that reside in zoos or in chains when not performing in circuses.

They don't do this in the wild. It is a sin what we do to these magnificent creatures--just to satisfy our selfish personal interests.

This is a very powerful video. Well done!

  • What a wonderful video! Great job, all who made it. Keep spreading the word!

  • Simple, clear, to the point. Well done! I'm starting to regain some hope that these elephants might find their way to a better home some day.

  • What an awesome film and what an eye opener! These beautiful animals need to range freely, or at least as close to free as we can get for them. A one acre stall is a prison cell.

  • This video says it all!! It is a disgrace for mankind, doing such a torture to these animals...ALL animals in captivity!

    My compliments!

  • Why do you think they are going extinct!!!! Because of greedy people like YOU!!!!!!!!!!

    >:(

  • Spyrofan: Don't worry, western is just some troll maggot who likes to leave idiotic comments like that to upset decent folks like you. Just ignore him, he's just trying to get a rise out of us.

  • Oh, ok. Thank you. :)

  • haha i was just illistrateing the mind set of the people that kill elephants for tusks....it was just a joke...calm down...i have no desire for ivory...i like elephants,,,,but whats a troll? is that some cyber nerd thing journeyman47?

  • OMG . how can the Zoo justify keeping these intelligent beings in such horrible conditions.? there is no education or conervation here.... let them go.

  • go where? back to Africa where there are poachers?

  • there are two elephant sanctuaries in this country. they could never be introduced in the wild. so much for conservation. sanctuary gives them room and freedom of choice...that's the best we can do for them.

elephants DO NOT BELONG IN CAPTIVITY!>

  • true, im sure they would be happier to be free....what ever is natural is right.

  • Oh. :( so right. No where is safe. There has to be SOMETHING we can do for the captive critters we dragged here to North America.

  • whew, good

  • Sadly I have seen scenes like this too many times before. These animals need help, and they need it now!

  • The point has been made very succinctly. Let all captive elephants go to a large sanctuary where they can roam and express their true nature.

  • This video is worth a thousand words! Poor poor Elephants...Let my people go!

  • This is quite simply accurate. After all the rhetoric about what elephants in urban zoos are for, it comes to this.

  • Check out this website:

    PawswebXXXorg

Just substitute a dot for the XXX and then click on PAWS Wildlife Sanctuaries - then Photo Gallery - then Elephants. You can see how the elephants COULD live.

  • Depressing as hell

  • Thanks for making me aware of this issue. I have often thought of this of many animals in the zoo. Well done!

  • This is brilliant! Absolutely brilliant. Its simplicity is astonishingly eloquent and its directness immensely powerful.

My sincere congratulations and my great thanks to everyone involved in making this little film.

David Hancocks, former director Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle

  • Very moving!

  • Great Video !!

    It's too sad !!!!

That should not exist it's squalid to make them undergo that .

    Love and Kisses Elodie

  • This makes the point so profoundly. Thank you for your efforts on behalf of the elephants!

  • great video

  • Thank you for this amazing video - -very direct, very engaging. Well done!

  • Great video - clear message!

  • I hope it isn't long before this zoo ceases to profit from live eletainment.

  • Free these elephants to the elephant sanctuary. They owe us nothing! We owe them A LIFE!

  • Very powerful...you did a fantastic job making this video. Let's hope what's best for these amazing elephants someday becomes a priority for people.
