In my personal opinion, to say that ur hair is easier to manage straightend is conditioning at its finest. Many of us as african american women are taught that our hair is easier to manage straightend. What if we were taught how to manage our hair in its natural state? It might then be harder to manage if it were oneday ever straightend. I challenge every african american woman to look up "400 years without a comb", watch the whole doc... then see how u feel.

No one teaches black children a sense of pride in their hair. We are just told its easier to manage rather than teaching us how to care for our hair without harsh chemicals. Black hair is a creative minefield...stop being lazy. I love my curls and put them in different styles..straight is just a style not an excuse.

Some blacks consciously and unconsciously perm their hair because they love the so called white girl flow"(something I heard about on Tyra Banks from an actual black woman). shoot i perm my hair so that i can get a comb through it because my hair is so thick. I have broken so many combs on my head but right now im keeping it in micro braids even though my hair is to my shoulders.
