I'm not a specialist but that's what i understood.
"Es bilden sich viele was auf Deutschland ein...", the word which is confussing here is "einbilden". It can be translated as "imagine" or also as "to be proud of something". So the meaning of the line here is something like "they think a lot of themselves".
And the line with the "asshole" means exactly that what I translated it to...it actually refers to a song ("Es ist geil ein Arschloch zu sein" by Christian...-cough-) :]

The regime gave in and released over 1000 Jewish prisoners. There was no attempt to kill any of the protesters or send them to the camps. If German civilians had followed their lead it might have saved millions of lives. Why did this not happen?

As for people supporting the wars/executions THAT number is significantly smaller. And there were certainly people who resisted. The 1000's of Jews moved from occupied Denmark to Sweden were only able to be moved because a German diplomat tipped them off. Open protests lead to jail sentences but people were trying to undermine their regime.
@mieroth Yes, Germany WAS portrayed as a Nazi, but only a small number of Germans were Nazis. Most didn't agree with what Hitler did, but didn't protest because they were afraid that they would be executed, because that's normally what happened to those caught going against Hitler and the Nazis.

IMO, he's one of the few jews who is telling the truth about the Holocaust which made him a very dangerous person to the liars, and he paid dearly for it. The Holocaust story as told by the Jews does not stand up to scrutiny. Why else would it be illegal to even question it in much of Europe? @beppu Ever been to a concentration camp? Ever seen these things in real life? Most of them still exist, nowadays as a museum though. I've been to several of them. I've stood in the rooms were people were killed. I studied it in school. I've read -serious- books about it. I know what have happened. I'm very aware of the history of Germany.
The Holocaust was real, as sad as it is.

Since it was only a handful of people who were Nazis, where were the millions of decent people out protesting them? Why was there no outrage when their Jewish brothers and sisters were stripped of all their rights, attacked in the streets, and ultimately massacred? Where was the German anti-war movement demanding "Not in my name!" as their tanks overran every nation in Europe? @onionleafable: What are you ranting about? Even Ludwig is portrayed as a nazi in the WWII series given that it was the dominant political party at the time. As for people supporting the wars/executions THAT number is significantly smaller. And there were certainly people who resisted. The 1000's of Jews moved from occupied Denmark to Sweden were only able to be moved because a German diplomat tipped them off. Open protests lead to jail sentences but people were trying to undermine their regime.

@mieroth Yes, Germany WAS portrayed as a Nazi, but only a small number of Germans were Nazis. Most didn't agree with what Hitler did, but didn't protest because they were afraid that they would be executed, because that's normally what happened to those caught going against Hitler and the Nazis.

Stauffenberg, Friedrich Ablass (Gruppe Q), Eduard Schulte...or in Austria "O5". The situation at that time was very difficult...I think you can't really answer such questions...
Do you know the novel and/or movie "The Wave"? It maybe can answer such questions like "Why did (nearly) everybody follow such a leader?".

My school offered to watch a movie, Die welle (not sure about the spelling) which is pretty much the same theory but takes place in Germany...Very interesting and it shows how easy it is to fall in such a trap.
For people that wonder about it, just watch Die welle or the wave. It tells it VERY well.

Fact about germany(for ya'll trolls): in WW2, it was NOT germany's fault da holocaust it was the nazi party which hilter used to control the german population including Prussia which somewhat helped but soon the nazi decemated Prussia and overruled it, conquering A LOT of land that was prussia's thus gaining more pwoer as Nazi Germany, germans thought it was right until they saw what was actually happening

All the talk about saying sorry about the holocaust and saying sorry for it makes me kind of scared considering I'm full blood German. I'm not trying to make a war...but the German's can't really say sorry for what happened since It was kind of Hitler's doing, and the soldiers went with what they were told to do. @AlexBeckable a war is started by somone taking action. wich the allies did first, wich made germany realize at the time there was now no choice but to try and take europe. since britain and russia declared war on them. and if it wasnt for the united states. europe would be under german rule and probably a better place today. nothing would be different other than the fact a much better economy and less dumb religious immigrants, the happiest places in the world have the most athiests. studyFact
