Does the Korg in Germany has the text in German or is it in English? I want to buy one on ebay, but i dont know if the German ones will have the text in German.
@heyybrowussup Haha I wasn't trying to be, i meant what i said. They are both toys, very fun and can sound great, when used to the right effect (as with anything in the world that makes a sound). but at the end of it all they are toys none the less. They are trespassing on serious synth territory, you could get an early virus/nord an alesis ion, blofeld or mopho for pretty much double of one of these and you would be getting more than double the synth.
@sacredgeometry Both microKORGs are perfectly legitimate entries into the world of synth instruments, I'm kinda new to synth but even with little experience I can see that both of these though small are useful and workable tools. They both have similarly strong KORG electronics parallel to their larger counterparts and can make just as crazy tunes. Just because they may seem small does not make them a toy.
@IamtheWV17 Well there you go, I am not new to synthesis and my experience tells me otherwise. Size? Haha are you joking? I wasnt talking about the size the SH-101 is one of my favourite synths and about the same size..not to mention the 303. I meant the fact that its so locked down in what it can do, modulation wise, which limits the amount of recursive synthesis you can do to push past its limitations...
@IamtheWV17 ...When there are synths like the Ion and blofeld out there which can battle with giants like the virus in terms of features and sound at only double the price then why on earth would I spend that money on something that sounds nowhere near as good as either and is nowhere near half as feature rich as either?
@IamtheWV17 All this said I didnt say you couldnt use it as a perfectly legitimate instrument for making music, in the same way that people can use anything that makes sound to make great music if the inclination is there. I have sampled lots of things that most people would consider for my music which works wonderfully in the mix....so something that is tuneable controllable is obviously a useful tool. I wasnt criticising that if you read what i wrong, just its merit over the alternatives.
hi i was thinking of getting the microkorg and was considering getting the microkorg xl now i know they look alot different and the controls look different but does the microkorg xl have all of the sounds the microkorg has and more, has it got different inputs and outputs and just what is the difference
so if you could answer this please i will be very gratefull thanks
@gilster60 I've got the same problem, but i found a video wich makes it easier to decide it. so now, my decision is the microKorg XL. but form your own opinion: (for some reason it doesn't work to post the link here) the name of the vid is "microKORG vs microKORG XL" here on youtube
@vunderground1 on the run is all about sequencing and MK2 doesn't have a sequencer but you could use an external sequencer or a computer and run the midi to the MK. alesis micron would be better for it or something else with a sequencer like a korg emx or a roland sh201
@d3p3ch3mod3 ty. I haven't got a MKXL (yet) but I have noticed the arpegiator alows 8 notes..on the run used 8 notes..maybe it is (almost) possible tho there needs to be a drum machine also. can the 8 notes be played at a tempo of 165 bpm? this is purely out of interest in this marvelous machine :)
@vunderground1 Arpeggiation is just playing the notes of a chord in the order of their pitch but On the Run is a repeating phrase that doesn't really go in order of pitch or anything. the micron would be better for it since it has a programmable drum machine. if mine hadn't one kaput a few weeks ago i'd probably be able to put the main sequence and the drums together in like less than 15 minutes honestly. with a MK you'd need a computer sequencer and you'd probably need to overdub the drums
Thank You! finally a demovideo thats issimple and sraightfowared in showing you the sounds on the micro xl ,nice prestentation ,thanks again ,good job.
@anim8orjoey The arrpeggiator on the xl is just as competent as the one on the original mk, but you turn the notes on and off through a menu instead of having physical buttons. So it's not as easy or as upfront to use, but just as good
Very thorough review, Thanks.

@IamtheWV17 edit: much less than double the price in the uk retails for £300 you can pick up a blofeld desktop up for £339 and a keyboard for £500ish
sacredgeometry 4 months ago
@sacredgeometry yes but the microKORG is great at what it is... and that isn't a toy
IamtheWV17 4 months ago
@IamtheWV17 No it isnt, its sub par. The more synths you play with the more you will realise this.
sacredgeometry 4 months ago
@IamtheWV17 I would be interested to know what sets it apart from other synths in your opinion

which one is better this one or the older one¿?¿? :)

@dinkymauthe old one...... its metal with wooden sides this one is all plastic and the only difference is the preset sounds really
a280281 1 year ago
@a280281 so if it's only the sounds that are different why go for the old one
Brainbox97 1 year ago
@dinkymau The microkorg xl is better. It has a better sound engine, a better vocoder, improved keys, a proper lcd screen, easier editing interface.
the original has fake wood grain sides though :)
