  • Hughes and kettner triamp all fuckin day

  • 1 fortin natas 2 engl blackmore, 3 diezel einstein /mesa mark IV, 4 engl savage/mesa dual rectifier.

  • How are you recording this? and are their any pedals being used?

  • Comment removed

  • Out of this bunch I'd go with the Dual Rectifier; it sounds the least wooly.

  • @fearedse

Сделай сравнительный обзор усилков с одинаковой эквализацией (т.е. на 12 часов) и на одном кабинете. В таком случае характер звучания усилка относительно остальных сравнить будет проще.

  • The Arnold moment ... cool ... more hidden ... price for the first that's spots it.

  • I have to ask: what's with Arnold's right bicep pose between 3:06 and 3:07?

  • Comment removed

  • to all those idiots who think all samples sound the same compare the mk 4 at 2.06 & the marshall at 3.30. Get your ears some experience or at least some good headphones....

Come on guys use your ears and brains!

  • at 16 like justin bieber.

  • did u use pedal/processor with in these records ? or there were just guitar plugged amp ?

  • u'r rich

  • did anyone even listen to the H&K?! that thing sounds amazing.

  • The mesa dual rec sounds the best by far in my opinion.

  • 13 people are not married!

  • Engl rules! If only i had the finances for such a demon :(

  • riffing masterclass!!! I liked them all, but the booguies, specially the Mark, Roadking and Rectifier sound the best IMO

  • @Hectrucci2 yes, all the Mesas, plus the Framus Cobra sound the best, IMHO

  • the 5150 sounds the best

  • i love the revresed neck on it

  • nice ibanez

  • great! so which one is best or your favorite? I have a mesa boogie and thinking of changing to a Engl set up. I would appreciate your , or anyone's input for that matter....thank you

  • hey man Killer vid!! Question. I picked up a mesa roadster and trying to dial in killer tones. What settings did you use for yours? Its sounds sick!! thanks

  • You should've done songs in standard tuning so we can get a better idea of the sounds

  • The marahall sounded like shit but the framus dammmmmmmmm

  • It's subtle and nearly similar, though i heard some differences. My question is, do you use the head for set-up or you just play your effect chaining straight into the 'return' input? I suppose this is just a cabinet test...

  • zootybang is right, this is "you pretty much sound like you" regardless of what's being played through. Most guitarists that have found their sound keep their sound no matter what they use? There's not enough difference between Peavey XXX Gary Holt and Engl (savage?) Gary Holt to warrant his amp change.

  • I wish you hadn't included the other instruments. They create so much background noise you often can't hear the guitar clearly enough.

  • Again, no mids in your tone. All of these great amps are being ruined by your scooping and processing. These are meant to be amp demos, are they not? As opposed to you showing off your mixing and rhythm playing. Yeah you're a great player, but please, boost your fucking mids stop with the backing shit which muds the guitar even more.

  • I keep my eyes off of the video, and every time I hear a tone I really like, I scroll up, every time it's a mesa, sad this is that I liked the 5150 tone better than the savage... lol

  • To my ear I'd have to say among the tops in this video are the road king, mark IV, fortin natas, diezel, roadster, elmwood, and cobra

  • mesa boogie all the way

  • 3:06...the Gummy Bear of Candy-Cornia...subliminal messaging...

  • THE MESA BOOGIE IS FUCKING SEXY!

  • Hope my marshall jvm 410 head sounds as good as the one in the video, I found one for 700.00 mint condition in a pawn shop lol

  • Whose music is this? I DIG!!

  • @bumskitch Its his own stuff what he plays on every vid.

  • they are all good amps, But EVH and Marshall sound the most Earthy and non digital cold .

I wish your guitar was at standard tuning or down to D just to hear the mids in rifs all over the fret.

  • @MrJuico1337

No, I'm a guitar player, and even if I was a bass player, I would still be able to distinguish tone differences.

  • I can honestly say that I dont say this to alot of people, but you fucking rock man

  • i like the Vox amp :)

  • The one that i prefer is definetely the engl savage. Awesome tone !

  • seriously dude...how do you afford all this? lol

  • What kind of pickups were you using when you played on the Hughes and Kettner amp? If you don't mind me asking!!! I can't decide what would be the best kind of pick ups to get for metal!! Thanks dude!!!

  • Framus Cobra is my favorite of them all.

  • I use a Triple Rectifier and can't seem to get that killer recorded sound that you have. I am using a 4/12 with Vintage 30's, SM57's into Sonar Producer 8. I'm not using any effects other than a little distortion. Any tips on what I can do to get that killer tone you have?

  • Wait..you own all these amps? Well then fuck you I hate you...I have a VHT Pitbull. Meh...

  • I know all these amps were set up differently to perform the different tracks at the time but if we're just talking about what sounded best in this particular video, for my personal sound taste the Mark IV takes it. Thanks for great video's man!

  • they all sound the same

  • :swag:

  • Mesa destroys everything! Such a good tone on any model. Articulate, Tight Bottom end, Full sounding. just the perfect amps.

  • No VHT or Fryette? :(

  • Seriously, every tone sounds exactly the same.

  • @zootybang Exactly. None of the riffs or songs are memorable and catchy either. Old school Metal and Thrash destroy this stuff IMO!

  • @zootybang What are you, a bass player?

  • @zootybang That's because humans cannot comprehend the greatness of these tones thus causing their differences to be seemingly nonexistent when really they make the gods cry.

  • @zootybang are you deaf?

  • @zootybang No it dosen't Plus the recording dosen't do it justice but there are different tones i can tell in this video

  • @zootybang i dont think they sound exact, but they sound damn close. i also get sick of all the 'mesa-heads' doing their 'oh only mesa sounds good, so go out and spend way too much money on an amp' thing they all seem to do. dont care how 'amazing' they are, cant afford it so i dont care for them

  • @lawngnome412 Just because you can't afford one doesn't mean they are amazing amps. I can't afford a bogner uberschall but it's one of my favorite sounding amps. It's not way too much money especially if you get one used. Plus all mesas are made in USA, so you're not just paying for a sound you're paying for quality. Mine is the most reliable amp I own and for that reason is my main touring amp. Don't hate it because you can't afford it. It can still be a great sound even if it does cost 3grand.

  • @MrNrhanson the reason i 'hate' them is cost. im not ever gonna buy a 3000 dollar amp. and its a pretty good reason to not care for them, which is what i said. the tones this guy has from these amp are good, most sound too similar.

  • @lawngnome412 I agree that they all sounds very similar, unfortunately. This guy clearly has only one tone in mind and has set them all according to that tone he hears in his head. I wish he would have let each amp shine at the sound its designed to make because all amps are not supposed to sound the same.

  • @MrNrhanson i agree with you there, getting to hear each amps strengths and weaknesses would have been cool. this guy is good at finding 'his tone' on all these amps tho, so thats something.

  • @zootybang eh there's subtle difference. in the world of guitarists and professional recording. those differences start to look a lot LESS subtle. but i understand what you mean... it's cause of the type of music he's playing. and the fact he's only using 3 strings.

  • @zootybang Its probably how he processes the signals when hes done recording it, using the same filter and compression settings, along with using the same guitars and settings probably

  • @zootybang Yeah this guys an idiot. He clearly processes the hell out of them after.

  • @zootybang b/c they're all nice amps

  • @zootybang That's not necessarily a bad thing though. It proves that you don't have to have only one kind of head to get the tone you want. I did notice a couple of differences here and there though, but I think this doesn't necessarily show off fearedse's tone, but the fact that you can get a similar tone from many amps. Too many gear elitists out there don't believe that (guitarist in my band is one, it annoys the shit outta me)

  • might sound the same for most people, but I can clealy ear the differences. some of them have clearer sound, and some have a more distorted sound.

  • @zootybang when using good headphones they sound very different.

  • all that noiz and little knowledge it takes,to find that area.Imagine trying that with classical music, has anyone just played it blindly/inspired?

  • Ah it's harder too make a Rock/Jazz amp. The big ole bass/brass boomers.

  • Play maybe in normal tune....

  • Ola is the real-life Skwisgaar.

    I love your vids, man.

  • SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT KIND OF IBANEZ!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS

  • @DisabledTravis no. its a secret...

  • @DisabledTravis It's an MTM2, the mick thomson model

  • what kind of ibanez is that

  • i love mesa boogie mark iv

is like amon amarth and kalmah

  • what is this band??? say to me pleaaaaaaaaaaase

  • @Scheydeggervish bunny slayer :>

  • @Scheydeggervish It's ola's band Feared

  • would it be possible to do a playthrough shootout? I love your videos that have all the drum and bass tracks but I really prefer your raw guitar videos to judge the amp. IT would be great to have a video with all the amps strung together in a raw video.

  • What song is at 1:36 ?

  • I personally like these demos, but I'd really like to see some amps the average player can afford.

  • @RM8807 I hear you man, I'm thinking about getting the Line 6 Spider IV 75 for like 550 and it's breaking me.

  • @trenty90008 A Spider IV 75 for 550? As in $550? Because the average I see it at is $300. In fact, I was gonna get one over the weekend, but didn't want it after I tested it out in the store. Too digital for me, just like the Spider IV 30 I sold. But anyway, if you meant $550, you're getting ripped off.

  • @JD3V3N3Y I live in the Bahamas so EVERYTHING is over priced, plus the music stores suck. They never have anything real, always knock offs, I was surprised when I saw Line 6's and a Marshall MG30..Damn, you should see the price of gas..about 5.20 something a gal. I think I should just order one offline. It's cheaper that way.

  • @trenty90008 Wow, 5.20 for gas? I couldn't imagine that. Feels bad man. But anyway, good luck with getting your amp!

  • My brother has the Hughes & Kettner Triamp. I wouldn't recommend it for meshuggah-like metal tones, more so just somewhat heavy metal at most.

  • See i can absolutely appreciate this, because, he's actually playing some fucking metal, i see guys demo amps, and its the same, bluesy, chessy, riff (lame)....this i can actually get a feel for the amp, bravo buddy!

  • First i think its a very good video/audio mixture, grats! but because of the mixing stuff, audio related, it makes pretty hard to notice the real quality of each amp, nice video anyway!

  • I like the sound on the dual rectifier, but god i really thought that amp sounded like crap compare to the other high gain boutique amps, marshall sounded like new metallica (load, reload,st anger, death magnetic) the dual rectifier's highs sounded clear just how i like it,i only play in standard tuning and sometimes tune to D tuning to play black metal or drop C for death metal,i really don't play modern metal music besides modern black metal, anyone know which amp is ideal for modern black metal?

  • Where do you get the cash for these Mr. Damon

  • Great songs Ola , you fucking rules !!!!

  • great music.. Ola .. you rock fucking hard !!!!

  • Hey man I like your sound !!

  • Ola, what's an invisible travelpussy?

  • dont like bugera?

  • @nihility666 no, we like amps that last more than 2hrs since you bought it before you have to send it in for repairs.

  • @rocafella142 sorry, i mean Bogner, not Bugera. specifically Bonger Ecstacy

  • is that a maxon od 808 for your extra crunch?

  • dudes burnin through amps like whores

  • what about leads?

  • i'm just jealous you have all these amps. lol

  • @neils68 He's just borrowing~

  • It's hard to tell when the same tone is dialed in with every amp. I'd like to a variety of genres played through the different amps to give you a clearly view.

  • engle savage!

  • Apart from the Marshall, they all sound roughly the same. I guess other factors than the amp (recording & production technique, playing, pickups) are more important for a good recorded tone?

  • What was the point of putting a picture of Arnold S. in there ?

  • I just noticed all the posts that he should play in standard tuning, how many comparisons between amps are there in standard tuning? this is one of the few with down tuning, dark side just rocks. The fact that this is of higher quality than most other homemade comparisons just shows the great sound engineering skills of ola. Also, how do you want to compare guitars if you do not blend them in the mix?

I think the mesas and the framus sounded best in this vid

  • Dude what is the secret behind your tone man!

  • Unless you have James Hetfield doing some good ole down-picking in e standard tuning on each amp, well then we'll never know which amps are better or not.

  • Hi Ola, if you could own 3 amp from this list, which it would be?

    Thanks!

  • Nevermore on the Diezel, fuck year \m/

  • EVH 5150 and the Eistein sound so sick, props man

  • Kinda of pointless when you drop tune imo. I can sound like this with my fender hot rod deluxe with drop tuning.....I'd rather hear it with standard tuning.

  • 1:05

  • Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier.

  • Marshall sounds like shit

  • You know... I feel like you should have played similar songs on all of them...

  • Mesa still rocks. My 20 year old MarkI IV still shreds and it heats up the house.

  • And the peavey tube vypyr blows em all away....for a fraction of the price lol. Its very hard to tell without standard 440 tuning,,a hello kitty amp would sound heavy in c lol.

Do some samples in standard bro..and AB them using the same riff.

  • there is a continuity in sound amongst all these clips which makes it hard to hear subtle differences. are you using a specific overdrive pedal in front of all these? thank you

  • what's the song on the EVH 5150 ?

  • I like the Diezel Einstein the most i think

  • yeahhh

  • I can't really tell that much diff of the amps, But i'm a mesa boogie fan. Hands down ~

  • But where is Laboga Mr. Hector? Pointless video with out it..

  • Someone is looking for that Ibanez endorsement.

  • are you going to do the ENGL Fireball soon?

if not, do you know if its a good amp

  • the shining ibanez sign.

  • Nice! But why not play the same riff with each amp? And with the same backing track, under the same productional boundary conditions? You also mght leave out the vocals.

  • Engl savage is the shit!!!

  • Ola can make anything sound brutal, I think. They all sound pretty much the same to me, except maybe the Engls, which are noticeably tighter than everything else, and the JVM - which can handle its own in the metal department better than I expected.

  • Drum sound lijke FPC - fruity loop

  • Yeah the Diezel and the Hughes and Kettner both stood out to me

  • The Diezel is aaamazing tone

  • can you post wav files of the dry sounds? I'm an engineer and I could really use a reference for metal, considering, I don't do much work in it and i haven't listen to much since i was 13ish. You gotta love the way a boogie sounds though. Just the definition of a modern higain sound.

  • Deizel Einstein.

  • dude that road king is brutal!!!!!

  • Ola>Tone King>the sound of shittting>world music supply.

  • Really man? you did that with the Superior Drums and the logic??? im impressed, another question what kind of Mac you Recommend? (i know shit about mac i have an HP) thanks.

  • I love you playing dude, Very sick and punchy

  • What model Ibanez is that at 1:20

  • engls for djent

mesas for like basic hardcore lol

and marshall more not so heavy stuff...

  • @jmatotek216 You make me sad. :(

  • @jmatotek216 no amp is for any one thing. ive heard plenty of great djent tones out of dual rec's and heavy tones out of marshalls.

  • @jmatotek216 I have to agree with what he said about the marshalls. They sound great, but not with the gain at 11. The highs just overrun the mix.

  • @InstantReverbPro yea marshalls have always been too bright for me

  • Those ENGLs are so tight it's not even believable.

  • 3:06 Arnold Schwarzenegger

  • I wish they would do an amp shootout like this tuned to A 440, and playing 80's style metal riffs.......More clear and musical sounding.

  • @1norville hahah.. because we're in the 80's... and all playing clear musical things

  • @1norville we all know what amps are good for that type of metal... amps from that era..

  • @1norville Except that tone hasn't been relevant for 22 years.

  • @Umaiketsu Eddie Van Halen is selling more amps, and has more fans STILL trying to get THAT tone, than an than any guitar player today.

  • @Umaiketsu Yea that's because the music business got flooded with a bunch of retards that don't know how to make good songs. Good thing they're becoming irrelevant though and 80's thrash is back on top.

  • @rocafella142 because chugging on E is a lot more musical than chugging on drop B#.

  • @1norville while that is a great idea, i think most metal players are going to be either down tuning or using seven strings anyway so a test like this shows how well these amps hold up in lower tunings.

  • The Mark IV sounds brutal with the overdrive pedal.

  • @Madbutcher305 the engl savage sounds best to me... haha

  • three more amps to add to this list, B-52, Line 6, and Bogner. other than that, really cool list of amps. buuut i really dont like evh or anything about him

  • I HAVE PLAYED or heard most of these amps in person. For metal tone and clarity nothing beats the Diezel Einstein. I have the Framus Cobra. It has the best CLEANS of ANY metal amp and its lead channel is different from the Diezel but very brutal. You can't turn the gain all of the way up and your treble and prescence probably wont go past half way. If you are going to spend cash on an Engl or Mesa I say get the Framus. I sold my Mark V which doesn't touch the Cobra's brutality-even boosted

  • Badass! why would someone not like this... i love it!

  • All of them sounded great. I like the 5150 the best though.

  • quick question, where do you acquire all these amps!?

  • any eq or anything on each head? and did you throw overdrive in front of the amp at all?

  • this video really showed me that It is much harder to find a nice clean amp sound compared to finding a nice metal sound

  • Here's to another year of crazy amp testing! Thank you Ola for inspiration and great metal tunes, I wish you the best for the holidays and the coming year.

  • Most of these amps sound great but wich one are the less noisy on the high gain channel?
