I had read in an interview with Glenn when this album had come out that he had actually liked and wanted to try out this industrial sound back in the 80's but because it was such a new sound a lot of record companies didn't want to sign him up cuz they didn't want to take the risk.
Trent Reznor is a piece of shit compared to Danzig. I think this song and Deep on Lost Tracks is every bit as good as anything NIN has ever done, and really this is just a phase Danzig went through. Another small chapter in this man's enormous musical legacy. It is not fair to even mention Reznor with Danzig.
Response2OldSchoolPunk: If it weren't for the Misfits, Danzig would have very little credibility and wouldn't be anywhere near Trent Reznor in regards to musical talent or songwriting ability. While I do really enjoy this song and like Danzig's solo career - he's nowhere near as talented as Reznor. Trent can write an opus while Glenn writes average, mediocre songs. This song sounds like Danzig jerked off to The Downward Spiral and then wrote this. "Peel it back..Downward Side"? C'mon, That's NIN
No, I don't think so. I think if not for Danzig the misfilts would not have been so sucessful. Danzig's voice is the reason for his success, not his prior efforts. And Danzig has a lot of projects under his belt not just music that make him so known.
i was a bit harsh in my critique of danzig, but only because some jerkass went talking shit about reznor, who i do feel is a superior songwriter. like i said, i am a fan of danzig, i have a bunch of his albums and i agree that he has a great voice. i shouldn't go slamming an artist i do admire in a forum that his fans frequent. for that, i'm a dick. if glenn likes nin and wants to sound like them for a record, i want to hear it (and i own it). people just need not slam the better industrial act.
Actually, when Danzig (the band) finally got some recognition (thanks to an updated version of Mother being played on MTV/Beavis And Butthead) Misfits in turn got recognized as well. 1994 was a big year for Danzig and everybody wanted to know more about Misfits old stuff because of it.
Hey danzig fifth album threw alot of people for aloop
Going a metal/blueish sound to something tha NIN would have done The line up change had something do with but long hair metal at the time was dieing and I think Danzig wanted to grow It took me a while to get it but blackacidevil was good cd to work to
Very NIN :)
