I suppose it would need more regular cleaning if there were lots of fish so I would either go for multiple filtrals or a decent size pump and filter which would ultimately be less running cost and less maintenance. And less cost provided you got a pump which didn't cost loads to run - i.e. Aquamax or similar.
That's really beautiful! I love the water fall that you have. Just wondering, did you come up with the design or did you find it online? I am building a pond in my back yard and I am trying to build a waterfall. Any advice? Thanks!
The design of the pond part was down to the customer but I built up the raised bed and just shaped it as necessary.
For building a waterfall, just make sure that is lined under whatever you build and that the liner rises well above the sides where water could escape if leaves caused the water to back up in the stream.
I always cement cascades as then the water is forced to go exactly where I want it to go.
No probs. Thanks for watching. My next pond video should be much better as it was a fairly complicated koi pond. I flmed all the stages of construction so will do a proper step by step video of that one when I get the decking job done around the bottom end of it and its finished.
nice richard, been looking at a few of your pond vids tonight u get sum joy out of it ,, i also like to use oase stuff but never understand why they ownly stick small uvs and same size think 11watts in all filtoclears,,, small wattage and 5 year garentee on their pumps makes up for it i guess :)
There are larger filtoclear filters available now. The 20.000 has a 36w UV and the 30.000 has a 55w UV. They are PLS bulbs so cost a fair bit to replace compared to the standard tubes. I think I've got a 20.000 on order for my shop so I'll do a video of it when I get time.

I just wish I'd videod the various stages of consruction.
I have done a pond in Durham which has all the stages filmed so the video for that one will be awesome but I am waiting until I get decking around the bottom of the garden bordering the pond until I take a final video and edit it all together.
that would look beautiful with a bunch of sempervivum on that rock bed. really great idea, I love the overall look of it... very clean and well executed.
A first class job you have done there Richard, some Rockery plants in the top will finish it off.....but as you said that is down to the owner ..is it going to be Koi Or Goldfish?
is the filltral pump good for small ponds with lots of fish

No problemo. Some of my other videos have step by step building of ponds on which will be more help as you'll be able to see the processes involved.

I will get a better video once the pond matures a bit and the raised bed is planted up.
I always like to do the occasional pond that hardly any other landscaper would attempt just to keep things interesting.

There are plenty of sempervivum in the rest of the garden so I guess they will get dug up and put in as it would make a good plant choice.
Thanks for appreciating.

Just a few goldfish, if any fish - The idea was that it would just be for wildlife but I guess some fish will end up in there.
