"Why not use a 80 pound weight instead?"

"Why not use a little girl?"

  • ลากไปแด๊ก

  • Ok, but wears clothing with ridged plastic(?) rods sewn into their clothes?

  • they have straighnth in numbers

  • what do the different colors mean?

  • @moxigen the colors allow to create the lines, allowing each robot to recognize its own line with the camera

  • @moxigen probably indicates the different frequency they operate on.

  • @moxigen Units. All of the Swarmbots would be equivalent to an army, while the reds, greens and blues would be "squads".

  • egads!

  • lol the robots look like space invaders

  • or you can just grab her with your hands

  • that kid is like.....what the hell

  • Pedo bots?

  • Today I may need to be rescued by swarm bots. Note to self.

    1. Remember to wear trendy pants and shirt with glowing non flexible rod inserted in one side.

    2. Cover floor with cardboard or similar friction reducing covering.

    3. Go on diet until goal weight of five year old is achieved.

  • They've come for the children... 0.o

  • nice concept, however it will be difficult with a train with several height levels and cliffs

  • Damn technology, you scary!

  • swarm bots, activate child pully attachy grabby thingy!

  • Army of Little Cuties <3

  • Robot:" Let F*ck this Little Child >:D"

  • Off to the human processing plant

  • this can be used for rescue missions helping survivors what about debris?

if they pull the survivor but is injured theyr just dragging him\her across the floor

maybe with sharp glass stuff like that they need to focus on debris and hazards for that to be a rescue robot you`ll need to think or more stuff for it to help people out of debris, life or death situations crap like that

  • it looks so funny when they are first assembling

  • Woops stairs..

  • aww... these robots are soo cute xD

  • 1,2,3 PULL! :)

  • Frances, on behalf of the human race, I apologize for all the priest and priestesses of politically-correct behavior that are now converging upon you. (Talk about swarming behavior!) . Please don't let it get to you.

  • Wow, that age-old cry of "A dingo got my baby!" seems so quaint now.

  • bots objective at first

-get rid of the kids making your floor look ugly

    bots objective after time

-begin slowly taking over the world

  • Phase 2, the robots buy a black unmarked van, and children start disappearing from elementary schools... You've created a monster... pedobot is born.

  • @Darthsikk that made me crack up XD

  • nice one first step toughts the machine taking over.

    just give them self awarness.

    then this will happen

stepp 1: steal all the children

stepp 2: come back in greater numbers and steal all the grown ups

stepp 3: come back and dont know what to do...

    C: /system shutdown...

    :P

  • she'll be dead by those bots pull here... and also u mayaswll get a human to pull her

  • robot plan a: dispense sweets and allow child to follow us back to the hive.

plan b: shock child unconscious with taser and drag them back!

  • paedobots

  • @logtothebase2 Because (1) the child was volunteering for this video (many kids would love participating to this experiment) and (2) we demonstrated more realistic rescue conditions. Why is this irresponsible?

  • @logtothebase2 We checked these issues carefully with the parents and the child in advance. The video gives a wrong image of the situation: the child was happy (and told "wow") when the robots started to pull but then did not know what to do, which is the reason for the "lost" expression. On the other side the whole process was boring because too long, which is the main negative point of the experiment for the child.

  • @francescomondada Ok, good luck with the project, take care.

  • @logtothebase2 JEEEZ it would suck to have you as a parent. If the kid wanted she could get up. Kids happily get tossed around by their parents, dragged, shoved, thrown, dunked... How is it that getting pulled around by a pack of light-brights on treds is crossing the line? She's not even YOUR child and you're coddling the shit out of her. When frances says he checked, here's how I imagine that conversation went: "Can we pull your daughter around with robots?" "Why not my infant?"

  • @oEQjet Your right, take your kids to the park, throw em in the air, skate, surf ,rock climb, play! as a parent yes. i would do all that stuff, often. And I am sure Frances made every consideration for the welfare of the child. But if i was a research supervisor i would not sanction this

not enough words here, its about the context, the consequence of mishap, and i question the design of the experiment WRT realism, and yes the words you quoted would make a great headline in the local News.

  • @logtothebase2 she looked fine

  • @logtothebase2 Its not irresponsible at all! Its not like the robots could do any damage. And the idea is to one day use swarm bots for search and rescue, and the closer your tests to reality the better

  • @ataraxic89 Clearly the Child is il at ease, as evidenced by the comfort being offered stage right, and the expression on her face, also think about it what sense does the expression "using children in experiments" ever sound good, if something , anything, even unrelated to the devices went wrong,

a How would you feel about that?

b Hows that going to reflect on the institution you work for when it goes to the news media.

  • @logtothebase2 I work for? lol Fool. And Im not crazy and dont assume that something will go wrong for no reason. Unrelated? How would I feel if the building collapsed while they did this? I wouldnt say they shouldnt have used a child because it would have nothing to do with it.

  • @logtothebase2 STFU NOOB

  • @logtothebase2 How is it irresponsible? Not like teh robots are going to go terminator on his ass.

  • @logtothebase2 lol, get out of here with that shit.

  • @logtothebase2

    grandma heart

  • @logtothebase2 you are the reason kids are getting dumb, you are the reason red tape stops bad guys going to prison, please stop assuming the worse and making the world a bad place.

  • @logtothebase2 its for ze science muyahahahahaha muyahahaha cough cough

  • @logtothebase2 What could possibly have gone wrong?

  • @logtothebase2 Nah, lets use a dead child!! *Sarcasm.

  • @logtothebase2

Because there weren't any dead children in the local area

  • @logtothebase2 What you wanted to use a dead one?

  • this kinda reminds me of starcraft

  • They need to make ones that can climb walls and ceilings, and take humans in an upright position. It won't be long until the machines take over, folks. ;D

  • Where can I get one to pull me out of bed in the morning?

Seriously though, what kind of intelligence do they have?

  • Why use the poor kid for this? What's the point? Making a useless "experiment" look interesting? Use a phone-book next time and leave the kid alone.

  • @TimeChopper To show how these robots can move a human weighted/shaped object? Look, humans are shaped differently all over. It's obvious you can lift 80-something pounds of phonebook with a robot, but robots actually picking up a child and dragging her without any visible dragging from any section of the body (Like the torso being dragged along with the head and legs) is impressive for an automated machine.

  • help im on fire and im on the ground! its okay ill get the bots!.... we...are...coming...to ...get... you.....5min later.....10min later... bring back corps....

  • i like the fun the kid is having at 2:02

  • <8c

  • "transporting"? is that what they call it now adays?

  • They are powered by Premium Unleaded Nightmares, with Techron™!

  • Reminds me of Dave's fingers in "Catch That Rabbit" in I, Robot.

  • OMG THEIR TAKING HER BACK TO THEIR NEST! *grabs shotgun*

  • next time i'd use a cinderblock or a mannequin instead of traumatizing some poor kid XD

  • Pikmin-bots.

Alternatively, science has brought us the World's Slowest Rescue Crew.

  • This was great, I loved that they used a real kid instead of a mannequin or something like that. The look of apprehension on the kid's face towards the end of the video is priceless.

  • The audio is off to muffle the screams!

  • Is the child modified? Does she has sensors or something, or could you release it and have it pull anyone?

  • needs dubbing by Daleks.

  • the kid looks so fucking bored like shes done it a million times

  • It's awesome watching this and playing Take on Me in the background.

  • CRACKED!??

  • Why would you do this to a little girl? Why not use... anything else? Inanimate?

    The answer: scientists are douchebags.

  • How much time will pass before we can use this robots to play pikmin?

  • Can you program them to attack?

  • So, when are you planning to up it a bit and take over the world?

  • The fuck is the point of this?

  • @seanandthat : Comparing this approach with, for instance, the use of a single big robot, to understand advantages and disadvantages of a distributed approach.

  • @seanandthat Exterminating the homeless?

  • Why would you use a kid that's scared of robots?

  • @branzombie : she was more impressed by the people filming her than by the robots. When she started moving, she said "WOW", but then had no idea how to behave, and had an expression who look, indeed, a little bit scared.

  • I'll never trust my roomba again.

  • i really hope they dont plan on replacing paramedics with these things...

  • Kid: what the fuck?

  • robots develop consciousness and evil

"Let us steal that sleeping child"

7 hours later, child wakes up after being dragged 8cm and says "wtf" before getting up and walking away

  • kidnap robots!

  • Kidnapobots !!

  • EXTERMINATE

    EXTERMINATE

  • @manofwar214

Not the only one who thought that then?

  • I read the topic as:

    swarm-bots pulling a child a part

So this wasnt so interesting after all.

  • Man your battle stations! The clones are attacking and taking small children!!!!!

  • Is any one elts a little creeped out by this... just imagine if you were sleeping in bed and then you very very VERY slowly got dragged out and hit the floor...l wouldent be afraid but i would be a little creeped out!

  • @ 2:22 they move the child

@2:40 you see the child's disgruntled face

  • The color is pre-programmed. Four groups are defined in advance, each group having a defined color (in fact two groups have the same color but are the two lateral ones, separated by the other groups). Each robot knows which group he belongs to and which is the corresponding color. It is attracted by this color and takes this color as soon as it connects.
