  • Where do you get an Explorer kit? I'd love to know so I can get one.

  • If you paid 200.00 or less on that EXP kit, it's a steal. All you need is a little time and knowledge and you own what would otherwise be a 1,200.00+ guitar. I want to do that sometime.

  • @g3speed14 poplar is a weaker wood, more easily damaged, and does make a difference between sound

  • I have those kits in mahogany with all hardware for just $140.00 plus $24.00 S/H

Right now you can get them for just $100.00 when you join the Guitars For Real Musicians Forum. You can join from my website at rmolsonguitars and don't forget the dot com

  • @roann999 cool i'll check them out!!

  • nema neke sise ali nije losa gitara

  • @g3speed14 Well......wood is wood....some would argue that certain wood will effect the sound quality. as far as the over all look....If you are going to paint it then poplar is a good paintable wood. If you are going to use a stain or nature then mahagany deff beats poplar and the end result will be a more pleasing finish. Hope this helps...for a project guitar if you get it for a good price then why not......have fun!!!!

  • you keep saying its not the best mahagony on the body ... but it looks really nice ... almost like sapele

  • @lordvad3r Yes....I ment there were a few knots no big deal...But is nice. Thanks

  • where did you get this kit? and how much did it cost?

    Thanks,

  • @paintballkiller54 Got it from a company....I cant find the website anymore..think they went under..I payed under 200.00 for it. Thanks

  • lol @ 6:50

  • guitarfetish has them for about 150 its crazy :D

  • @iRaiseTheDead Yea that looks nice, but its White Poplar w/maple neck....don't think its the same kit.......but worth the money

  • hey man.

I really want to build my own explorer

I was wondering. can I just use my epiphone explorer body as a template to cut out?

also, is it possible to make a once piece guitar?

I will be doing everything as a noob, so as much guidance as possible would be awesome!

your guitars always turn out badass

  • @parkerbob99 Yes you could use your epiphone as a templete.....I dont know if the epy is an exact explorer body...but would work. Do you mean set neck where the neck is glued to the body or neck through.

  • @alexis221woodworks The hole placement for what ever kind of bridge you will use would have to be done once you have a neck is in place and depending on what scale you will be using......so you can measure properly from the nut to get postion of the bridge.....so I would hold off on using the hole placement from you epy to your new explorer.....Thanks and have fun...

  • @alexis221woodworks

I mean as in the whole guitar is once piece of wood. like the neck and the body aren't glued together but just one whole thing. my Warwich bass is one piece, and I was just curious. thanks for the feedback man. means a lot :) what I was thinking about was using the epi and just creating a one piece template and doing everything from scratch out of a nice big hunk of wood. Im going to keep it natural and not paint anything, but just put a wood finish on it.

  • im using a dark cherry/cranberry water base stain.....Thanks

  • very cool kit!!!

where i can buy and what is the price?

  • Are you going to hide the knotted and mismatched pieces of wood with paint? It should look pretty nice if you paint it.

  • No paint.....I'm washing it with a grain filler and using dark stain hoping to even out the mix match wood....I'm hoping anyway. Thanks for the comment...
