  • i was still a child when i saw this movie. I was deeply impresed and thought about it all the time for a long time after. I also loved its music score and had it my mouth all the time... I think "the trap" was a very honest film of its time, a film that can be seen and enjoyed all times... An Rita, such a good and promising actress in the sixties and early seventies!!! Unfortunately have not heard much of her eversince!

  • @philipposathina I agree, this film seems to have a "haunting" quality -- it stays in your mind for many years. I don't know if it is because of the great acting, or the music, or because the story is archetypal (man & woman working together to survive).

Yes, Rita is such a good actress and such a nice person too. I met her in 2011. She has continued to act, right up to the present day, in smaller films and tv. A gracious and unpretentious lady.

  • @rjd0309 T hank you so much for your message! I was rather too young to appreciate the film for its archetypal story, but i was certainly impressed by the wild landscape it was shooted in, the intriguing script, its realism, and of course its "photograph" and music. Thanks for the news from Rita! If you happen to see her again, please tell her about me, let her know she' s got my respect and give her lots of regards from Athens-Greece. Thanks again!

  • THANK YOU !! I have been telling friends about this movie for years. Only saw it once, never able to find it again... Thanks to you I can now let folks see what I liked so much !!

  • Somehow I missed this movie when I was a kid. Rita Tushingham is absolutely stunning in this movie. Ollie was always one of my favourites. I have seen almost every movie he made except for this one. Thanks for posting it!

  • Thanks! I saw this movie when I was 7 yrs old, deeply embedded in my memory, my uncle (who is not with us anymore) took me to the movie theater in Perkáta, Hungary to see it.

  • thanks, what a delight. glad it's in English!! (German dubbing is pretty good, but.. it just doesn't cut it)

  • OMG !! Thanks i Love this movie and finally found it ,, i cant believe it,, i thought i would never see it again .. it was embedded in my memory forever .. thanks Guys ,,, i hope i can get it on netflix or something .......

  • Great film! Wonderful music.

  • hi , can any1 tell me the name of the song in this movie ? i have been searching this for ages but dont know the exact wordings or the name . plz any1 ?

  • @burgler79 The song that La Bête sings are simple lyrics to the MAIN THEME. There is no special name for this song. It is simply, "lyrics to MAIN THEME FROM THE TRAP". If you listen closely, you will find that La Bête sings the following lyrics:

    When I'm a man, I'll take me a wife.

We'll live in a house on the hill, the hill.

With carriage and horses all white, all white.

And she'll have diamond and pearls, and pearls.

And she will have diamond and pearls.

  • @rjd0309 Thanks for the info, in fact I have also been trying to know about it.

  • Thank you!

  • One of oli's best. A great but under rate movie of the 60's.

  • I have just discovered this movie and I absolutely love it! I love movies about unusal love stories. I first saw Rita Tushingham on "The Knack and How to Get It" on TCM. I am discovering there are alot of good 1960s British movies out there thanks to YouTube and Netflix! I want to buy a region free dvd player so I can buy movies like this. (Also, this movie slightly reminds me of the 1947 movie "Johnny Belinda". Both movies feature silent/mute, strong female leads in Canada.)

  • OMG I LOVE THIS MOVIE AND HAVE WAITED 20 YEARS TO SEE IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE OLIVER REED AND THIS MOVIE IS MESERIZINGLY BEAUTIFUL \! THANKS EVER SO MUCH FOR POSTING

  • @patholly2006 The only offical dvd release, so far, has been the German-language version, released in Germany in 2009. The German dvd is letterboxed 4:3 aspect ratio, whereas most people would prefer letterboxed 16:9 anamorphic, as it better fills modern widescreen tv screens. Hopefully, a quality dvd company (such as Network or Image Entertainment) will release a remastered anamorphic 16:9 dvd in the future. Meanwhile, you can watch this version here on YouTube! :o)

  • Ah, finally - a widescreen copy! If only a DVD would be released. One of Reed's best performances.

  • A fine classic - one of the best films ever made.

  • I have always wanted to see this fabulous movie in fabulous widescreen. Thanks so much!
