why not give them a maintained dose and have them contribute to society, many people with high intellect become addicted as folk with high iq often have reduced cognative abilities and suffer depression, many are in pain.

remove the prohibition system, but make harsher penalties for stealing etc.

DON'T DO HEROIN, you dumb ass 18 year old's that are bored and lost because you don't have direction or plans after high school, or whatever your case may be heroin is not the answer. It will not make you better, stronger, or smarter in anyway, though you may think that but trust me on this if you don't want to go to hell on acid. It kills when the strength is unknown or its adulterated, nobody ever dies of heroin in hospitals apart from on purpose.

Any drug can kill apart from cannabis, alcohol kills many, causes violence and is legal oh and it kills one in 5 during withdrawl!

harm reduction is the key, maintenance scripts etc, crime almost stops, addicts can work and pay tax plus cash for insurance/police is saved, that or buy all afghan opium-starve the dealers.

@tpvalley ODs aren't the problem, it's the lifestyle, chasing. i shot dope for years and even when i had enough for maintenance doses i still chased top-ups all day long, like most others. i think what you're advocating, harm reduction, is a good thing, but in no way solves the problems opiates cause, it's more a cool utopian stoner thing to say, like the equivocation with alcohol (i used to say that too, but come on, my drinking never came close to the carnage the D caused).

OD's are a problem here as the strength is unknown when illegal.

Harm reduction is the only way other than jailing addicts like in russia; u cannot force a junkie to quit ever.

I was maintained on methadone and only used H about 5 times in that time, it saved me, allowed me to detach from criminals.

My drinking caused more problems than H! about 75% of UK are alcoholics though.!lol.

If u need top up, the dose is to low of methadone ot u need morphine script.

@tpvalley you are right. and apart from that, if the state deals the dope, money is gained through the community, and not by the crime lords. when heroin was legal the addicts were not a problem, they would conduct a normal social life without being so much worried for themselves, just because pure heroin does not kill, but drug actually kills in this society just because of the social politics implemented. it has to change one day, otherwise problems will never stop coming.

It has caused more harm than the drugs do and stigmatized millions. I smoke weed and dont care what the gov says, its a miracle plant for medicine and pleasnt to smoke. Heroin can never be a good addiction because you can die without it, cannibis is only habit forming so why is pot classified the same as cocaine?

here cannabis is a class B drug, cocaine is a class A along with heroin.

mad that amphetamines is class B also and valium class C!

A being biggest penalty, usually just a caution for all of the above on 1st offence though and when the police raid u, they are generally civil.

brown was cheap up here- £5 bags, similar to 1 and half pints of beer!

I heard its expensive now though (I dont use anymore).

Brown is called number 3 heroin and white number 4 incase u didnt know, the white is the salt version (hydrochloride etc) and the brown is the freebase so to speak, thats why u need citric acid to dissolve it to make diacetylmorphine citrate.
