  • In other recipes that I've seen, no mention of corn syrup is mentioned. How much of a difference does this make? Also, they either used vanilla extract or bourbon. But I like the idea of both haha!

  • @2014Reddie I think the corn syrup is needed for a great consistency in this pie. You may substitute honey, if you're looking for a more natural ingredient.

  • betty doesn't self-rising and regular flour actually make a difference, though? because self-rising has baking powder and salt added, and the other one doesn't so wouldn't it affect how the recipe turns out?

  • In a recipe like this, where a minimal amount of flour is used, you may use either plain or self-rising flower. The baking powder and salt are important in baking cakes, cookies, etc. that need to rise properly. Thanks for your question!

  • I think Karo makes "light" syrup and "dark" syrup, but I think you will have to go to another brand for "white" syrup. Thanks for your question!
