awesome LP. thanks for making qfg 1, 2 and 4. also, i dont have a floppy. BUT my dad still has games we bought on flooppy. does that count!!??! anyways, great LP :P
Wait so it just ends like that? No mention to what happened to katrina? thats lame, A great game with a sour ending. I really like katrina. Have you ever played 5 or plan on playing 5?
I loved that one part where "Her Crabbiness'" cell phone went off and it was the theme to Monkey Island! A most random and unexpected event that made me LOL!
I watched this entire series from beginning to end. Thank you for posting this! I enjoyed reliving a part of my childhood and I also enjoyed the comic relief between you and "Her Crabbiness"!
Great play-through! You two work well together. Most people don't even bother doing the voices. I'll definitely be checking out the rest out of your channel.
I'm such a huge fan of these LPs, you guys make a great team!
(btw, the "animators" ending screen shows the multiple drawings you have to do in order for the character to look like he's moving... because that's how animation drawings are done. :D )
Loved the playthrough! Partly because never finished the game due to the many bugs.. but also because felt very cozy and soothing to watch, I dont know why.
BTW any chance you did another playthrough with her crabbieness? You guys did great!!
i have a floppy drive in my computer. :D it's old but still good and LateBlt........................ hercrabbieness was right i still have one muahahahahaha
I loved the ending, but I just have to ask one thing...
Why make a game over at the ending!? It sends chills down my spine every time I hear it after the epic music! "Yay, you won! And we play the death music!"
But yeah. Following you through the games was epic. I thought the spell system in the VGA games was excellent myself, but that's just me. Well, unless you do QFG3, this is it! Thanks for LPing one of the best game series ever.
I hated this game for it's ending. I mean, come on! After all that I get suddenly teleported to the next place?? I Want to get back to Tarma and make sure everythings OK after I got poofed out :\
Although, This game did have the best combat system, I think.
I'm a little late to this LP but you two did a great job. I never played any of the Quest for Glory gamesand it would be kinda of hard to find them now, but it was really fun to watch though thanks!
Does anyone else find it completely unfitting that on the "CONGRATULATIONS!" screen with the hero flexing his muscles that it plays the "Sucks to be you, you're dead" theme?
aww come now, your not really going to make search for a different and undoubtedly much less entertaining let's player to play QFG5? but seriously, this was meant as a compliment as to me calling you much more entertaining than many other let's players out there. i'd say you even rival the mighty chuggaaconroy! (btw called him 'mighty' because he has well over 30,000 subs)
Hey- I just wanted to say thanks so much for making this video. I watched my big brother play this when I was little and it definitely brought me back. I'm surprised I remembered so much- even the avacado and garlic sandwiches. But some strange bug or something prevented him from going past meeting Tanya, so we never got to see the end. Thanks a bunch for letting us finally see it!
I finally decided to make an account after watching all three of your main LP's of Quest for Glory 1, 2 and 4. And I have to say, that you; LateBlt, have the best LP'ing voice I have ever heard. It as if you were some sort of mere mortal, Ascended into Godhood for such.
It is a travesty you do not have more subscribers.. And hercrabbiness, you were absolute class in this. Thank you both, for taking time to Let's Play this amazing game for all of us.
LateBlt and Hercrabbiness (which, by the way, is a name that... puzzles me), thank you so much! I've had a blast looking through these clips and partly re-living this game, not to mention finally getting to know what the hell was going on.
I have several computers with a floppy drive, I also have 2 TRS80 Color Computer models, a color computer 2 and a color computer 3, I also have an Apple IIC and an Apple IIGS and tons of the real actually floppy black disks for them. as well as a neat little device to use a PC as an emulated floppy drive for my coco. so you aren't the only one lateblt
Thanks! It's been a very enjoyable 11.8 hours (71 * ~10 min) of witty banter and dialog. It's even more fun watching you two play than doing it myself.
LateBlt, HerCrabbiness, this has been great! I look forward to future projects from the two of you. Thanks, oh, and I still have a floppy drive. I use it for some stuff at school, and as the emergency boot device... you never know when I floppy will be your best friend.
I see one problem due to you and hercrabbiness teaming up. If you guys want to watch the best LP videos, you'd have to watch one of your own videos. If there was a catagory on you tube for best duo, you guys would win hands down. Thank you for your great LPs. I remember when LP referred to a setting on a record player. How times change.
Hey Lateblt, have you considered doing Conquest of the Longbow? Its similar to QFG, you have some rpg elements mixed in with an adventure game. Excellent story too, Robin Hood. If you want to go back to the typing games why not Gold Rush.
I've considered both of those games. Both are pretty good games and I haven't ruled them out, but I don't know either of them very well, and I'd need some time to familiarize myself with them before I could really do a good video series. But they are excellent choices; thanks for the suggestion.
How bout documenting the period where you don't know the answers to the puzzles (not just pretending you don't). It might take some extra editing to get out the wandering, and the commets would have some spoiler risk, but the exciting "first time" with a "new" adventure, getting frustrated before finding the right clues, could spice up these let's plays in the right direction. Most of your viewers already know these games like the back of their hand, so they don't need to see how to play well.
I've had the same thought before, but I honestly don't think that playing adventure games blind would work very well for a video, because being stuck on a puzzle in an adventure game isn't just a process of a few minutes; it can involve hours, sometimes days of futility in trying different random things. It might be fun for a few minutes, but not for the whole end-to-end game process.
Soooo... Did LP'ing bring you guys, you know, like.. together?
I'm pretty sure you mentioned in your new years video that you had a new girlfriend...Fess up you two! :)
As for new games to Let's Play, (with a capital L and P) you might want to consider Traffic Department 2192. Imo it has a nice story and loads of dialogue for you to voice. It might not be your type of game, though.
What can I say. I thoroughly enjoyed your duo LP with Hercrabbiness. I feel a bit empty inside now. (god, I'm gonna miss the sound of you ramming on that keyboard with what sounds like a sledgehammer)
Thank you both for giving me something to look forward to whenever I'm on youtube. I love the voices you do, the commentary you give, as well as the funny dialogue between you two. I sure hope this wasn't the last time you guys team up! (continued in next comment...)
you're right LB, the ending IS anticlimatic in QG4, it's kinda anticlimatic in QG5 too. but at least there's a ceremony in it and the Hero gets married and crowned etc.
Great LP, besides the kings quest lp, I hope you guys ain't too busy to do a new one. Unless you're really set on sticking to games with a text parser, I'd really enjoy your take on the first Gabriel Knight game, Dr John with his very deep voice and Gabriel with his southern drawl. :D
RaccoonskiCap recently did an excellent LP of the first Gabriel Knight. People would probably prefer his version, as I wouldn't play the CD-ROM talkie version.
LoL for some reason I got really surprised by the game over music ! I didn't expect it to come up after finishing the game. They should have changed the music for something more cheerful. If I was a kid, I'd totally freak out on that one. lol
Time for Quest For Glory V! Right? ... Right? Come on, where the hell did he teleport to? You're not going to make another video about that stupid plant-growing game, are you?
No, seriously, I played QFG 3 and 5 a long, long time ago. I'll understand if you move on to something a little more relevant to your interests. I will miss QFG, because it's my all-time favorite Sierra series, but I understand that the point and click isn't your style and I won't unsub if you move on to other stuff.
I stole it from one of my dad's work computers from the late 80's that they were going to throw out. I had an awesome idea to emulate some old Apple IIe games that well, I stole from my high school when they were trying to get rid of all their old stuff (I think it ended up with something like 100-200 discs of various stuffs, Games, learning programs, applications...) but I never got around to it... Yet. ;P
I don't think you can emulate Apple IIe disks just by putting them into a 5.25" drive on an PC-compatible... The PC's drive controller won't be able to read the disks. You'll need some kind of special hardware to do it.
Probably, But I'll never know til I try after all. In any case, I have some blank discs that I know work as storage... Well. Hardly anything really, but I like the look of the big discs, they're very funky.
Who's to say those arms are disembodied? We just see the arms, but perhaps there are perfectly normal zombies who the arms are attached to underneath the water. :)
Epic Playthrough. Playing this series was very satisying and I'm glad to see there are others who also appreciate it.
Any plans on playing the QFG3 and or QFG5 through?
Also..which games do you think were the best of the series? My favorite ones were 2 and 4. 3 was pretty uneventful and 5 was a good game..but did not come close to having as immersive an atmosphere as 4.
Personally, I don't get why everyone hates 5 so much. I may alienating myself, but I thought Dragon Fire was the best. Trial By Fire had a certain charm that was never recaptured, but I think I just enjoy the Greek setting over everything else and the massive reintroduction of characters. Inspired by Lateblt, I recently replayed almost everything - unfortunately, 5 is the only one unavailible for download on the internet. I lost all my disks and have Vista, so maybe it's just nostalgia talking.
Outta curiousity wat would u have liked to happen in order to make the ending more satisfying? I personally didnt like erasmus and fenris yankin u outta there like that, u dont get to give a proper goodbye nothing. just yanked out THAT sucks, its like wat katrina and Ad avis did!
I would've liked to be able to hear from Katrina again (even though I know she shows up in QFG5), and I would have liked the graphics to be rendered in 16-color EGA so they could be more colorful.
Well there's KQ7 -- Well there is someone who's LPed it, but the quality of their audio isn't very good and I can hardly understand them... Then of course, KQ7's the one I'm looking at doing...
True, but I enjoy your LP's and all the commentary you provide. Maybe Gabriel Knight? Or Torin's Passage?
Really, I'm just selfish because your LP's always brighten my day and you and hercrabbiness' LP's have gotten me through a really bad few months. So if you decided to do another or not, thank you for all the hours of enjoyment! :D
Probably because Floppys were used for one of two purposes for the average use. Storage or Dos. XP and Vista killed Dos and people have flash drives. There's the death of Floppy right there.
Well, I meant in the sense that they no longer used the shell. There was no echoing off from C drive to get into Windows. And there was no exiting from Windows into Dos.
Man, I used to love typing win in every time I turned it on to see my favourite Windows system of all time... Windows 3.1...
Well there's a good reason for that -- It's the system I played all the games I've loved enough that they've become permanent fixtures in my life. Games now, Once I got the story, most of the time I never go back to them. And the System itself was alot more stable then anything that came after it for a long time.
Course there was a nasty thing where you couldn't uninstall Mavis Beacon.
If you think THIS game ends abruptly, then you truly have never played Wages of War (QFG3)! There, you defeat the villain, get a few congratulatory words, your apparent girlfriend dumps you and... completely out of the blue... you start having a magical spasm from Katrina's summoning spell! And THAT'S where it ends!
My favourite ending is with QFG2. It actually strikes me as the most conclusive ending of the non-QFG5 endings... as if one could free to say "I want my story to end here".
No, i meant hercrabbiness. Have you forgotten how you declared at the start of this LP that she's not your sex slave ? And then she happened to fall asleep in your bed or something like that during one of recordings ?
that was erana, wht does erasmus change every game, he looked A LOT better in 1,2 and 5

I guess Mordavia is a part of some larger kingdom, also including the Duchy of Spielburg perhaps.
.
No, that's Fenris and his familiar, Erasmus.
.
And they cared so little about the ending that they left the dying music in the end Restore/Restart/Quit screen.
.
And, I'm finally caught up on this series. Thanks for doing it. Now I just have the last year of your uploads to watch.

Yes, I doubt you could put the entire experience on line, and it would mean a fair bit of editing.

LoL for some reason I got really surprised by the game over music ! I didn't expect it to come up after finishing the game. They should have changed the music for something more cheerful. If I was a kid, I'd totally freak out on that one. lol
MathiasXII 2 years ago
Hey, kids! Can you find the phallus?...
No, it's behind the skeleton...It's barely obscured by the skele-
ITS BEHIND THE FRIGGIN SKELETON! I KILL YA. I'LL KILL ALL OF YA.
I don't get why they have the death music playing when you win, though.
VigorBalloon 2 years ago
Stave it off, one two three...

"Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle and there is a phallus behind you"
You crack me up XD

Time for Quest For Glory V! Right? ... Right? Come on, where the hell did he teleport to? You're not going to make another video about that stupid plant-growing game, are you?
No, seriously, I played QFG 3 and 5 a long, long time ago. I'll understand if you move on to something a little more relevant to your interests. I will miss QFG, because it's my all-time favorite Sierra series, but I understand that the point and click isn't your style and I won't unsub if you move on to other stuff.
Cerebrocaust 2 years ago
That plant-growing game is life, love, and laughter. =D
LateBlt 2 years ago
so this makes it what, 4 times the Hero has lost all his items due to teleportation?
feslenraster 2 years ago
I forget... Hopefully it'll be the last time. :)
LateBlt 2 years ago
Why does the death music play when you've finished the game correctly?
LAME. ;P
As for Floppy Drives. I have two, But then one of them is a 5 and 1/4 floppy drive.
Resulka 2 years ago 2
Even better! Wow, I don't know too many people who still have a 5.25" drive... Thumbs up to you!
LateBlt 2 years ago
I stole it from one of my dad's work computers from the late 80's that they were going to throw out. I had an awesome idea to emulate some old Apple IIe games that well, I stole from my high school when they were trying to get rid of all their old stuff (I think it ended up with something like 100-200 discs of various stuffs, Games, learning programs, applications...) but I never got around to it... Yet. ;P
Resulka 2 years ago
I don't think you can emulate Apple IIe disks just by putting them into a 5.25" drive on an PC-compatible... The PC's drive controller won't be able to read the disks. You'll need some kind of special hardware to do it.
LateBlt 2 years ago
Probably, But I'll never know til I try after all. In any case, I have some blank discs that I know work as storage... Well. Hardly anything really, but I like the look of the big discs, they're very funky.
Resulka 2 years ago
aww, come on LB, you'll disappoint all of your fans :).
feslenraster 2 years ago
If the swamp dries up, does that mean there are going to lie lots and lots of disembodied arms around?
TomSFox 2 years ago 2
Who's to say those arms are disembodied? We just see the arms, but perhaps there are perfectly normal zombies who the arms are attached to underneath the water. :)
LateBlt 2 years ago
Well, that's great. Mordavia will be run over by Zombies.
TomSFox 2 years ago
Wont that mean they will start attacking people once the swamp dries? XD
Elround4 2 years ago
Maybe they're like fish and drown when they're out of water.

What is your learned opinion friends?
LeySun 2 years ago
No, I won't be doing QFG3 or 5.
My favorite is 2, with 1 being my second favorite. I didn't really like the rest of the games.
LateBlt 2 years ago
i thought 1 and 3 were the best
personally i didnt enjoy 5 as much...it just wasnt the same as the rest in terms of gameplay.
cloudwind1 2 years ago
Personally, I don't get why everyone hates 5 so much. I may alienating myself, but I thought Dragon Fire was the best. Trial By Fire had a certain charm that was never recaptured, but I think I just enjoy the Greek setting over everything else and the massive reintroduction of characters. Inspired by Lateblt, I recently replayed almost everything - unfortunately, 5 is the only one unavailible for download on the internet. I lost all my disks and have Vista, so maybe it's just nostalgia talking.
Cerebrocaust 2 years ago
I still have one!
Nah, just trying to fit in.
I really enjoyed your videos. I think you are the most skilled LPers out there.
Will be looking forward to your new entry.
NS.
Neosillogium 2 years ago
so does this mean your going to be playing more old dos games LateBlt?
or somthing more adventurous perhaps?
cloudwind1 2 years ago
I really don't know yet.
LateBlt 2 years ago
Outta curiousity wat would u have liked to happen in order to make the ending more satisfying? I personally didnt like erasmus and fenris yankin u outta there like that, u dont get to give a proper goodbye nothing. just yanked out THAT sucks, its like wat katrina and Ad avis did!
quiet1234 2 years ago
I would've liked to be able to hear from Katrina again (even though I know she shows up in QFG5), and I would have liked the graphics to be rendered in 16-color EGA so they could be more colorful.
LateBlt 2 years ago
AGD did a great job with enhancing 2.
Personally they should work their magic again by "downgrading" QG5 to the classic formula.
Asianwaste 2 years ago
Can't wait to see what you let's play next! Any chance of one of the King's Quest games?
Kijikun 2 years ago
All of the KQ games have already been LPed.
LateBlt 2 years ago
Well there's KQ7 -- Well there is someone who's LPed it, but the quality of their audio isn't very good and I can hardly understand them... Then of course, KQ7's the one I'm looking at doing...
That or Eagle Eye Mysteries...
Resulka 2 years ago
Has someone done KQ5? I know there were some playthroughs and speed-runs out there, but I never found any traditonal LPs with voice commentary.
NickelSamurai 2 years ago
roundthewheel did one. The reason people don't find it is because he doesn't call it a "Let's Play;" he calls it a "Talkthrough."
LateBlt 2 years ago
thanks for pointing roundthewheel out. he's a funny guy, although i wish he'd voice all the text like you and HC do
NickelSamurai 2 years ago
True, but I enjoy your LP's and all the commentary you provide. Maybe Gabriel Knight? Or Torin's Passage?
Really, I'm just selfish because your LP's always brighten my day and you and hercrabbiness' LP's have gotten me through a really bad few months. So if you decided to do another or not, thank you for all the hours of enjoyment! :D

I still have a floppy drive inside my comp. Comes in handy when I corrupt a bios flashing and brick my mobo.
FrogurtX 2 years ago
Definitely. I don't understand how people can use computers without floppy drives.
LateBlt 2 years ago
Probably because Floppys were used for one of two purposes for the average use. Storage or Dos. XP and Vista killed Dos and people have flash drives. There's the death of Floppy right there.
Resulka 2 years ago
XP and Vista killed DOS? But neither of them have real mode. =)
LateBlt 2 years ago
Well, I meant in the sense that they no longer used the shell. There was no echoing off from C drive to get into Windows. And there was no exiting from Windows into Dos.
Man, I used to love typing win in every time I turned it on to see my favourite Windows system of all time... Windows 3.1...
Resulka 2 years ago
Huzzah! At last, someone who feels as I do! :D
LateBlt 2 years ago
Well there's a good reason for that -- It's the system I played all the games I've loved enough that they've become permanent fixtures in my life. Games now, Once I got the story, most of the time I never go back to them. And the System itself was alot more stable then anything that came after it for a long time.
Course there was a nasty thing where you couldn't uninstall Mavis Beacon.
Resulka 2 years ago
Funny how you ended with less than maximum hitpoints, despite a two week vacation at the end.
Hakarfox 2 years ago
Thanks so much for making these! I loved them all, hope to see you both soon in another game!!
WwhiterabbitT 2 years ago 2
If you think THIS game ends abruptly, then you truly have never played Wages of War (QFG3)! There, you defeat the villain, get a few congratulatory words, your apparent girlfriend dumps you and... completely out of the blue... you start having a magical spasm from Katrina's summoning spell! And THAT'S where it ends!
My favourite ending is with QFG2. It actually strikes me as the most conclusive ending of the non-QFG5 endings... as if one could free to say "I want my story to end here".
kimarous 2 years ago
Yeah, I really like the endings to QFG1 and 2. :)
LateBlt 2 years ago
If you want to play a really abruptly ending game, try Torin's Passage.

And thats how the LateBlt gained his first sex slave girl. The end.
karry299 2 years ago
Um, what? You mean Erana...?
LateBlt 2 years ago
He could mean any one of 6 women, Three of which are dead now, The other two much older women and the last being around 10...
There's always Frankie tho.
Resulka 2 years ago
No, i meant hercrabbiness. Have you forgotten how you declared at the start of this LP that she's not your sex slave ? And then she happened to fall asleep in your bed or something like that during one of recordings ?
karry299 2 years ago
I have a floppy disk drive too!

bryandawkins 2 years ago 2
It's an interesting idea, but I'm not very good at non-computer games.
LateBlt 2 years ago
your up on me, I am not very good at anything right now. good series I hope decide to do another show. take care
bryandawkins 2 years ago
Do you have any plans for further Let's Plays? Quest For Glory 5, perhaps, or 3 if you can tolerate 4's control scheme some more.
Also, it's kind of interesting how after the credits, it shows a death screen + music.
SolarVampire 2 years ago
I don't have any plans at the moment.
LateBlt 2 years ago
So will you be doing Quest for Glory 3 or Quest for Glory 5 LateBlt?
