I have not heard anyone on TV or film do a Cronish accent properly it comes out somerset and within cornwall there are a hug variety of accents in areas...in fact we have not been speaking english for very long so we are getting used to it
@Perrykillsfrogs The county is occasionally referred to as Devonshire, although that is an unofficial name, rarely used inside the county itself and often indicating a traditional or historical context.....remember shire is a very english name.....devon is historically derives from the name of the Celtic people who inhabited the southwestern peninsula of Britain at the time of the Roman invasion c. AD 50, known as the Dumnonii, thought to mean "deep valley dwellers".
@ElAbortionist the english from london tried to make it devonshire,,,,,but failed...devon has a proud pre celtic/celtic and anglicised history...rebelling against LOndon many a times....shame never won :P
@3tangle3 I'm so fucking glad another Devonite is aware of THIS!! :D we all know about the battle of deptford bridge right? ie kernow/devon and some other western parts uprising against henry VII. i dunno about you guys but kernow having an independent constituent of the united kingdom? I say fuck the monarchy onto a pyke and stop calling our region 'southwest england' - there is nothing english about it! And this is nothing against people from England. All of these islands are paradise to me ;D
@ElAbortionist I agree! So many people are pouring into 'west wales' devon/dyfnaint(?) and cornwall/ kernow(the old saxon name lol)...when i went to exmoor.....its was so posh sounding in the villages!
@3tangle3 aye agreed. just because on the map it says england does not make it so, given that people think of themselves distinct, I feel the same way about all of these islands. I'd defend eire/scotland/alba/england/cymru/wales/kernow any the same. Calling these places foreign is ludicrous. History has redrawn the borders but I think we should look forward into celebrating our regional characters and our collective aspiration rather than squabbling. and ill be fucked if windsor rules my head.
what a amazing genius and very very sadly missed . we fucking love you SIR PETER BABY !!!!! - the queen should have knighted him the old slapper,, shes given them to enough turds who are usuless twats..
:( he didn't do the Birmingham accent...but at least he mentioned it!! Maybe he didn't think he could do one as they're that weird! To be fair I'm a yam yam but the Brummie is close enough lol
Am I the only one thinking that his "American" accent sounds more Irish than anything?
