how long after the open rhinoplasty the incision on the columella is completely invisible, even in daylight and from very close by? will it ever happen? I don't want anyone to notice that I've had rhinoplasty, but I've heard people who know about the open rhinoplasty, can tell you've had one by realizing you have a tiny scar on the columella. Thank you so much in advance
A scar from an incision will usually never be totally invisible but the vast majority of the time, if the surgeon closes the incision properly and you heal well, the scar should be very hidden unless someone knows what they are looking for and stares closely at the base of your nose. But if you want no scar at all then closed rhinoplasty is the way to go. Unfortunately I see patients who get closed then get nostril narrowing which gives even worse scars so it makes no sense
@DrNaderi Thank you for your response. So do you rather treat most patients with open rhinoplasty? I've heard a lot about your work,but I have a very busy schedule,&can't take more than ten days off, max. it's very important for me that when I'm back to work noone notice I've had rhinoplasty. I guess this won't happen with open rhinoplasty, and more time is needed for initial healing? How long after the surgery the columella incision is close to invisible so that I can appear in public? Thanks.
Open rhinoplasty usually takes longer than closed to heal as far as tip swelling and edema and so called "final results." In either case though most patients have a 7-10 day down time. In either case most patients are ready to go back to work or school after 7-10 days. The incision in an open takes a few months to become less visible but due to its location, its not very noticeable anyway even after a week or two. Ultimately, healing and swelling depends on each patient
If you are going to ever do a cosmetic rhinoplasty then you most likely should wait and do the septoplasty at the same time. Good Facial Plastic Surgeons will use cartilage from your septum during the cosmetic rhinoplasty and if you get the septum done before, your surgeon may not be able to go back into the septum and may need to take cartilage from your ears instead. Just make sure you do lots of research and see several good nose job specialists.
which is better doctor if i only want to shorten my nose and fix the hump little bit ? and what r the cases that rhinoplasty can be done under the local anesthesia
Open and closed rhinoplasty are just "approaches." Both are good approaches. It is more important to find a great surgeon. whether that surgeon prefers open or closed rhinoplasty is less important. Personally I prefer closed 60% of the time and open 40%. Rhinoplasty can be done under local as well although it is not fun!

@chelsealuvsmindfreak
The nasal tip can be de-projected to make it extend o r protrude less.

I'm going to have a septoplasty, later on is there anything I could do for just the tip of my nose? It's a little wide.
