The problem with our nation today is that we're so caught up in only doing sports for the praise and glamor that so many of us just turn into slobs after high school when those elements are taken out. Jack certainly was ahead of his time. He knew about the importance of physical exercise and proper diet. He took the comments from Groucho very well and laughed along with him. You have to consider the time period. Groucho was very funny. Jack is wonderful!
It's been surmised that Groucho's aggressive verbal routine came from dealing with hostile vaudeville crowds. It evolved into a character and Groucho became the character. That was his shtick, love it or hate it.
Why all the negativity toward these two guys? Part of Groucho 's routine was comic insult. It's all done in good fun. And Lalanne is a fitness pioneer who has helped improve the lives of millions of people.

I just finished watching on the military channel men who have been awarded the medal of honor and most of them were short men. And yet they did what most people expect a tall man to do. Society has branded them and its shameful.
I meant my statement as an attack against bodybuilders who are spreading stupid myths about dairy. I'm seeing well honed athletes who will break their limbs apart on the simplest tasks, and I'm seeing a surprising amount of them who don't grow normally.
A Body-BUILDER should explore Height aswell as muscles. There are ways, and even Jack knows a few, but he is attaching himself to superstitions. Similar to Sandow who said "smoking is good for you". La Lanne can make mistakes.
You don't need milk to grow tall. I have a cousin who is lactose intolerant and never drank milk. He grew to be 6 ft tall. tallest in my family. It's genetics.

I dont think Groucho was challenging LaLanne, I think he was giving him a chance to speak to his (Grouchos) viewers about his health philosophy. He appeared to challenge him just because that is how his humor turns. Jack obviously didn't take offense.

Jack certainly was ahead of his time. He knew about the importance of physical exercise and proper diet. He took the comments from Groucho very well and laughed along with him. You have to consider the time period. Groucho was very funny. Jack is wonderful!

It's been surmised that Groucho's aggressive verbal routine came from dealing with hostile vaudeville crowds. It evolved into a character and Groucho became the character. That was his shtick, love it or hate it.

Why all the negativity toward these two guys? Part of Groucho 's routine was comic insult. It's all done in good fun. And Lalanne is a fitness pioneer who has helped improve the lives of millions of people.

I just finished watching on the military channel men who have been awarded the medal of honor and most of them were short men. And yet they did what most people expect a tall man to do. Society has branded them and its shameful.

I meant my statement as an attack against bodybuilders who are spreading stupid myths about dairy. I'm seeing well honed athletes who will break their limbs apart on the simplest tasks, and I'm seeing a surprising amount of them who don't grow normally.
A Body-BUILDER should explore Height aswell as muscles. There are ways, and even Jack knows a few, but he is attaching himself to superstitions. Similar to Sandow who said "smoking is good for you". La Lanne can make mistakes.

You don't need milk to grow tall. I have a cousin who is lactose intolerant and never drank milk. He grew to be 6 ft tall. tallest in my family. It's genetics.
