@oldbag699 he was, look at him. I am in my 50s but when I see him like this I am again pre-teen and think he is gorgeous. Don't be embarassed, I totally agree. :)
@time4sleeping its funny eh when u look back and see they look so strnage now - but he was gorgouedo u know what has happened to him i never see anything about him - i used to love to watch Go Set - i think thats what is was called -
i'm a big Ray Stevens fan. Ray wrote this song in 1963 and I learned a few minutes ago that this pop singer had a Top-20 hit with it in Australia in 1969.
@smacker57 I laughed at that too. Nothing wrong with being gay funny man, we still love the song and wish Ross would join up with other singers for the RSL tour for us 'oldies' to enjoy.
@time4sleeping it would be fantastic to see him and i loved jeff st john he came to our school when i was about 123 oops i mean 12 - 13 not 123 thats how i feel today lol lol lol - he was great too - i dont know why they just seem to fade into oblivion - if anyone knows what happened to ross can u maybe post it
i remember ross as a kid in his music store in bayswater, I was around 10 and it was 1974, i used to buy my drum sticks from him, he allways had time to talk to this kid who is now 44 and still playin, such happy times and such lovely lyrics, what is he doing know ?
I thought he had polio as a child? I have a few of his records, just love him. What is he doing now? I remember he had a son Christian around 1970/71 and another boy? after. Saw him at a market once and recognised his voice but too shy to say hello. Been looking for ages what is he doing these days? Any photos we can see and please tell him he is still thought of by people who loved him when they were 8 yrs old, now in my late 40's. XX
Agree with all the good comments about Ross D, Wyllie. Loved the shows he hosted from 1968-70. Would love to see one of his other hits: "The Star" on YouTube as well. If anyone has a clearer version of Ray Brown and the Whispers' "Pride", that's be great, too.
Post more Ross D. I love to see these old clips. If you have any more Ross D clips Sallie please post. I am one of his nephews 25 years old and i would love to show some of his music to friends. Kids today just don't Know about our Australia music from the 60's. I also love all the other clips you have posted.
Oh yeah, and the Easybeats doing "Peculiar Hole in the Sky" and Master's Apprentices doing "Living in a Child's Dream" and Judy Stone doing "Cajun Man"?
How about Vicki Forrest doing "I Just Wanna Stay Here and Love You" (I think) and Ronnie Charles doing "Katie Jane"?
Any chance you could locate Ray Brown & the Whispers doing "Fool! Fool! Fool!" and Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs doing "Poison Ivy" and Bobby & Laurie doing "Hitch Hiker"?
And how about Alison MacCallum doing "Superman" and Yvonne Barrett doing "No Longer Part of Your Life"?
Brings back long distant memories of Uptight, the late 60's Saturday pop music program on Chasnnel 10 that Ross D Wyllie hosted. I watched it religiously. Thank you for the clip.
Thanks for posting, a forgotten Australian gem!

@ACcountryFan And Ross used the 1968 Even Stevens Arrangement - which suits the song perfectly.

Good on you.
It was considerably shorter, like several inches, and he walked with a pronounced limp.

Sallie6, you've done it again!
Here's yet another awesome hit I so enjoyed from my early teenage years in Oz! Yes, I had the 45 to this song, too.
Saturday mornings watching Uptight was the coolest damn thing ever.
It was good to see Ross D score a hit in his own right (as he was the host of the show every week).
Thanks!
