  • Your opponent was pretty weak

  • 1) Honestly, your footwork's pretty messed up. Work on that maybe, Glide through the Court, not Hop randomly in it.

    2) When hitting the Shuttle, Try using your ARM. Not just the part Elbow down.

    3) Contacting the Shuttle for Clears/Drops/Smashes/Slices should ALWAYS be at the highest point your arm and racket can go up to. 1 O'Clock position for Right-handers, 11 for Left.

    Hope i helped.

  • @ch00q1anw31

Hey thanks for the comments, I don't quite know how you missed the caption at the first part of the video. there's more recent video's of me playing that are more relevant than a 2 year old video now ;)

  • hoping it's okay that i'm analysing this for my PE GCSE... please tell me if it's not.

  • U got a good smash

  • Ive just got into badminton and its probably one of my fav sports. This has just made me like it even more

  • That person in black, your move is old style players..

  • Pretty much each of your serves are illegal.

  • @910127

I've just watched this, every single serve is about the level of the bottom of my shirt, no where near my waist, and all have the racquet pointing in a downwards direction. Please explain how any of these are illegal...

  • @910127 How the fuck is that serve illegal? He held the racket so far down, way below his waist. Stupid people trying to look clever thumbed this up.

  • @pete9129 The serves contact points are mostly in the wrong quadrant. The contact point of the serve must be done below the waist and in the serving quadrant. It's not a big deal though in friendly games like this one. It's the equivalent of your foot slightly touching the line...

  • @atreyukicks Sorry, you're incorrect. I suggest you read the BWF ruling on services; as long as

-my feet are inside the service box,

-I hit it with the racquet shaft in a downwards angle

    - and below my waist (which it most definitely is in all of these- my waist is the line of my lowest rib according to their rules and i'm hitting it by my hips.)

If these 3 points are met, it doesn't matter if I lean over into the other quadrant and hit it or not.

Even in a friendly we follow the rules.

  • @hunterandy You are correct in official rules it does not mention so, however in the college badminton league I used to play in it stated the service had to be made from and received in opposing quadrants. It also defined as the service being the initial contact point between the shuttle base and racquet head. I had never realized this wasn't an official rule, my apologies.

  • Not bad.

  • those guys are left handed. haha..

  • 1.u need work on your footsteps ; u make alot of unnecessary moves or not enough effort in chasing net shots, making you prone to making weak shots (stretch those long legs, ur quite tall). 2.Try work on the wrists; u had alot of chances to perform tricks, especially near the net but u made alot of straight forward/defensive shots; making you predictable. 3. improve on ur accuracy, (ur crosses had not much angle)4. with all 3 above, learn how to observe player before returning shots. Good luck!

  • @JietZ

Thanks for the comments, though this video's pretty old now- my game's very different. :)

Have a look at my channel for the most recent one!

    Andy

  • just work on your foot work and your net shots:)

  • @songsers

Have a look at my latest video, see if you can notice any improvements :)

  • it seems that your'e drop shot is not working... :) more improvement!!!!

  • worst footwork i have ever seen

  • @wilkers93

Keep up the constructive comments, love them!

  • @wilkers93 woow dude, it isn't THAT bad... I mean, did you think you were going to see a LCW class badmintonner here?

  • @WoWashikabi ya i did actually

  • When you said worst footwork you've ever seen, I think you were watching the wrong court... :)

But really, is there much need to have a go, this video's a year an and a half old, the fact you haven't commented on the others suggests that my footwork isn't that bad in more recent ones.

I'm sorry that your immaturity leads you to such hateful commenting.

  • try and smash down more on an angle

  • Decent play. Guy in the black has horrible footwork though :( try and work at it !

  • left hand players have good control in racket sports PEOPLE SAY ! but i m happy that i m a righty!

  • @geraldark just enjoy the video

  • Good game but use more deception!!!!

  • How old are you?

    You a U17?

  • you both looked like you didnt enjoy the game too much haha! esp the guy in black

  • How long have you been playing?

  • nice game :D the dude in black has same shoes as me

  • Hey, nice match. Don't listen to Geraldark. I bet he can't even smash properly! ;) But maybe you could smash more often? You have lots of chances to smash but you just rally them.

  • @JC040696

Click the red link at the start of the video, you'll notice a difference :)

  • when you guys attack, you often attack the middle of the court, in singles you need to exploit the corners. I would also recommend spending alot of time on your footwork because it's really unstable and do alot of drills so you wouldn't do so much unforced errors. Hope that helps a little bit

  • person with the carlton shirt way to many unforced errors

person in the white, attack a little more

  • I think you have to work on your Footwork...;)

  • if from asia..this is just a like kids play..i from asia and can play much better than u two..

  • @Geraldark I don't really care if you can beat me.

Grow up,You're acting like a little kid.

  • @Geraldark wowwww YOU'RE AWESOME!! YOU'RE MY NEXT HERO!

  • you guys r amazing

  • @PiratOfTheCaribbean

Some of the advice is useful for me, as well as coaching in real life. I know I can improve which is reason enough to ask for it in the notes below the video. If I get 50 comments that say you suck, then 2 proper comments where people help me, I don't care about the 50 bad comments. Your idea of what youtube is, is actually just your opinion. There are a few things you have missed off that list though, but i'll hope you work them out for yourself. :)

  • @hunterandy

Well, look, for some reason you put in youtube right? There are major reasons for every video on youtube. 1. entertainment, 2. Somethin really world class 3. Disgusting things (like shocker vids). 3. funny things, 4. And rare things,

So, what was your purpose for putting it on online, thats my question,

I mean, i like the idea of filming this in order to improve the game, but why sharing it?

    Thats all

  • good idea, but em ....do u really think that level is any good?

  • @PiratOfTheCaribbean

I'm not sure I understand the point of your message?

  • adam is using an ashaway electro :-D

  • AbsolteZero

I think Adam (guy in black) is using an ashaway T5SQ in this game, he doesn't usually use it (Uses nanospeeds/AT800Attack) but it was new at the time. Strung at 23lbs if i'm right.

I'm using an Armortec 900Technique at 24lb, had 800 defensive before the frame cracked ; I don't feel I need the extra power in smashes.

    cartmanoncrack101202

We're both born and raised in South england and despite a 6 year age gap we both went to the same school funnily enough :)

  • @hunterandy how old are u guys? u guys play pretty well.

  • @AbsolteZero

    I'm 20, adam's 25.

  • Comment removed

  • what rackets are u guys using?

  • you guys are good, are you brits?

  • You're both very good! well played guys ;)

  • you're not bad, but would like to see a bit more of a match. Right now the speed is too low and you're just hitting everything back, untill you're friend in the black shirt makes an error.

  • guy in the black especially

  • decent guys i think u could play national standard =)

  • Thanks for all your comments, I'm hoping to record some better quality match play in the next month.

    Watch this space :)

  • You're good :o

Much better than me, my smashes really suck...

I play for my school and I guess I want to point out that you need to be really jumpy when you're moving around, like when you hit it over, I noticed that you sort of slacken your stance once you hit it.

I guess you need to be more "jumpy" so you have more time to get a perfect shot.

    That includes running...

  • When recieving a serve always have your racket up, ready to smash a loose serve or drive....

and for your smashes, rotate your hole body more ( hips, waist, shoulders)

    pretty good match though

  • oh yeh. true, im not soo good at teaching, but i do know whats missing or whats wrong when beginners play.

  • The fat guy to the right is shite tho !

  • nice video...

  • use the other side more ur always hitting it to one side but ur good

  • Interesting both left hand

  • I play with my left hand

    @319631

  • Dude you dnt take your smash shot high.... you've miss lots of it and its been on the net..........

  • woow this shouldnt even be posted so baad not even gonna start

  • 1) Foot work, alittle slow on the feet

    2) Work on your net lifts, they are too center, and you could place it alittle more to the side lines

    3) Net shot, when intercepting high at the net, try t tumble the shuttle

and then you should be fine, and practice more pulling your oppenent first then smash, much more effective than just smashing and they opponent would get tired quicker.

  • nice reply, i prob add another thing.. which is try to be more deceptive with every shot (besides smashes). because its singles. you can trick your opponent without puting much energy into it.

  • @Eskn69 before you do that, get basics right first, play simple, then incorporate some deceptive shots, otherwise, it will just not work at all

  • nice playing, the technicals are all correct....well players both

  • Sorry I just removed instead of replying to the guy asking about someone being 15, I'm pushing 20 now if you were asking about myself.

  • play with more speed and more jump smashes.

  • This is great. A nice simple good quality game. You should do more of these

  • I think its great you made a video like this. I'm not badminton pro or critic. You're probably even better than me :)

you're pretty flexible, much better recovery than me. Keep it up

  • normal game...no kiling shot.

  • Try more crosscourt smashes and flicks. But otherwise good play.

  • nice badminton..very great..just keep practicing..

  • footwork

  • your footworks fine. ur stoke falters when you drop your elbow before your swing

  • It's an 8 court multi purpose hall and you have to book out courts especially, but usuall they group bookings together :)

  • is that part of the gym dedicated to badminton? thats sick i want something like that where i live.

  • you guys need better footwork...

  • me too leftie! :D so nice solstice for you to have a sponsor, i wish i have one. U__U

  • what kind of shuttle are you playing with?

you guys are both lefties eh? me too lol

  • Using Yehlex Tournament grad speed 78, they are suprisingly long lasting and about as close to Yonex as you can get (being a chinese clone it's hardly suprising :D).

It's brilliant being a lefty especially when people can't figure out for the first 5 points why lifts to your "backhand" get smashed back.

  • I'm using mostly championship quality Victor/Black Knight shuttles. I use Black Knight(Canada) racquets because I had an equipment sponsorship as a junior and in college, and I've stayed loyal to them. I'm currently using a pair of their C2C Nanofires. It's a head-light medium-flex racket that weighs about 82 grams strung.... so ya, reeaalllly light.

I also have a Dr Pro - Ti 860 (Taiwan). It's about the same weight as the BKs but a bit stiffer. I string my racquets at 26 pounds.

  • btw... my favourite racquet of all time is the Carlton Airblade Superlite (2002?) or it's precursor the Aerogear 1000FX(1997?). I loved those racquets, but they were fragile. They'd break quite easily from racquet collisions during recreational doubles/mixed games with hackers who don't know when a shot isn't theirs.

Because of my sponsorship with BK, I wasn't allowed to compete with them, so I just used them for club play sometimes (until they broke lol).

    Is Carlton a British company?

  • ur frens backhand is great !
