@HannahHasHabits, no thats not true, if you spend enough time with your love bird it does not need a mate beacuse you will be its mate. however just the same as humans if they are mates then they might die if the other one does. we had black first and he had a mate that died, we then had mustard however mustard was my mate not blacks and black and mustard keep each other company when im at work.

@karisasticoco why r my 2 fischer's and 2 lutino's fighting wid each oder everytym...n the lutinos seem 2 be more aggresive as they hav captured both of the clay houses in thier..the fischer's hav 2 stay out of the home all day.....hw will dey breed
@alwolfdragoness10 clip thie wings, it dosent hurt them and if u keeop them outta the cage for a decent time they get enough time to strech thier wings and excersise. I have seen and hear of to many people not clipping their birds wings and heri friend or partner opens the door BANG bird flys out never to be seen again, it cruel not to cut their wings because if they fly outside1 good like trying to get ur best friend bk but also it will mostly likely be kild by preditor birds
Please don't rush into getting lovebirds (or any bird) as a pet. It takes a lot of time and care to make them this happy with you. They can become depressed very easily from boredom and loneliness if
neglected.
I got 2 male lovebirds when I was 15 and did not think it through. I spend at least an hour a day with each of them, but sometimes that's not enough as they always want more. Please don't get a bird unless you can provide the care they deserve.

Hey, need some advice, i have a aqua lovebird with silver face, we bought her from a pet shop, and were told that it was handreared. It wasnt so it continuously bites. Would you recommend getting it a mate do think that would hep?
getting a mate will help the bird if they like each other, but it will not make it any more tame infact if they do get on well the birds become only bothered about each other and might make it worse. we went to a breeder and got a cuddly tame lovebird that is the only way to make sure the bird is hand tame, you could try that. they cost more but they are much happier pets. hope it helps a little.

awwww they are lovely. I just got a pair of peach faced love birds 2 weeks ago and they are amazing animals. So friendly already and very funny to watch. I haven't tried egg yet but that is the first thing i will do tomorrow :-) are they ok eating the yolk too or just the shell and white of the egg? aw lovely birds... they are trullyy gargeous... i just got my lovebird two days ago, and its almost two months old.. it wont eat anything but the seeds and millet.. it wont eat any fruits or vegetables.. i sliced up a apple and tried feeding it, it put its beak on n den left it,,, i sliced up baby carrots and it did the same,, and i have no experience with lovebirds,,, i have budgies, they only eat seeeds too... i need help.. can you please help? thanks. :D

I've owned both species Peachies & Black-Masked. And Peachies by far are MORE aggressive, than Masked are. And Fischer's, are probably the "melloist" of the 3 species. My IRN or Indian Ringneck if you will, loves my friends Peach-Face Lovie to death when there playing together. Considering the "size differences" between the two birds Peachies usually could care less about getting hurt. Don't ever "assume" that there small size works against them. Trust me they can handle there own just fine..!!!
Does Mustard do the "clicking" noise that Black does? My bird doesn't do that noise and she's not a Fischer's, so I'm wondering if it's something that Fischer's birds do.
they are lovely, Mustard is what they call 'cuddly tame' she thinks she is a human!!! the only down side is she really will never leave you alone when she is out the cage, its nice when she flys around but she loves to be on you all the time.
the black one is not hand tame but he will come to you to go back into the cage if he's to far away so he must have some trust in me :)
hey, nice birds you have. i have one lovebird, who has always been on his cage, he is rather happy though. i also have 3 budgies on their separate cages which keeps him calm. when i get near him he likes to get closer to me, he loves it when i feed him, but the problem is that he loves to bite my finger. he is not territorial, he just loves to bite me. what are some ways, or what do you recommend me to do to make him stop bitting me?
yes mustard is very tame, she thinks she is human an never leaves me alone, at the end of the vid she jumps on the camera. black is not so tame but he still loves me talking to him. :)
I just love the black masked lovebird! He is too cute and a great chirper!! and your lutino is precious too! I have two different species together as well, but they are both males! They are beautiful your two! :) very social and sweet!
millet is not junk food! and fine to give them in moderation! Pellets are TOO much nutrition for a small bird! and should be limitted to only 40% of their diet as too much of them can cause kidney failure.....fresh foods and seed are even fine without pellets. Lovebirds are active birds and need that seed and more fat in their diet than other less active birds.
As I watched this, several of my lovebirds flew in to see who had come to visit. They sat on my head/shoulders watching the screen and returning the songs.
millet is junk food for lovebirds. if you expect long life, you need to get the bird onto a diet of pellets as about 80% of their total consumption. they sure will eat up that millet, but its not good for them.
they only have the food i have put above as a treat, i thought it was obvious they have bird seed as a normal diet. the question was what do mine like so that was what i answered. thanks for ur comment

you can buy an anti biting spary, it tastes nasty to birds so if u spray it on ur hand he should not bite you once he has tasted it! :)

yes mustard is very tame, she thinks she is human an never leaves me alone, at the end of the vid she jumps on the camera. black is not so tame but he still loves me talking to him. :)

I just love the black masked lovebird! He is too cute and a great chirper!! and your lutino is precious too! I have two different species together as well, but they are both males! They are beautiful your two! :) very social and sweet!

millet is not junk food! and fine to give them in moderation! Pellets are TOO much nutrition for a small bird! and should be limitted to only 40% of their diet as too much of them can cause kidney failure.....fresh foods and seed are even fine without pellets. Lovebirds are active birds and need that seed and more fat in their diet than other less active birds.

millet is junk food for lovebirds. if you expect long life, you need to get the bird onto a diet of pellets as about 80% of their total consumption. they sure will eat up that millet, but its not good for them.
