Sonic CD was only the third sonic game released, only 2 years after the first game. I don't think you can really say you were an "oldschool" fan of sonic when it was only out for two years when Amy was introduced. Sally Acorn was simply Ricky(one of the small animals in StH1)'s dub name in 1991. It wasn't until 1993 that she re-designed to be Sonic's gf in SatAM.

Sonic/Sally is still canon and supported in the on-going Archie Comic Book series(where Amy, being a 10 year old in this version, is no threat to Sonsally at all) so what's the big deal?
Sally was created by SoA, so of course, SoJ leaves the character to her creators.

Amy was actually made first in japan, but wasn't introduced anywhere else until sonic cd. plus the comics have always taken place in a different continuity, because it was the creator of SATam's idea for sally, not sega's, thats why sally, and other characters from that series, are not part of the game's continuity.
The release date of Sonic CD in Japan was only five days after the debut of SatAM in the U.S. It could be fairly assumed that neither development team knew of the other's new characters. You could just as easily complain about Sally replacing Amy... or better yet, Rotor replacing Tails.
And to say that Amy was forced down anybody's throat is just silly. Prior to the Adventure renovation, Amy was just an NPC for all of twenty seconds in SCD and a playable character in three games on one played.
Easy. The games are designed by Sega's Japanese branch. The cult following SatAM has in America doesn't exist overseas.
There is Bioware, but making SC:DB take place in Mobius would probably alienate more fans than it would interest, especially since it's going to be released in Europe, too.

AMY ROSE HEDGEHOG was created because sally was a squrell, or chipmunk (whatever). And Lets see..Amy is a hedgehog, sonic is a hedgehog, sally isnt a hedgehog...sonic is...NOW, wat do u think???

Sally is more suitable for Sonic. She was the only girl Sonic ever actually admitted to being in love with. He runs from Amy. Love should be based on personality, not looks. Thats superficial.

I've seen both the english and japanese version of that episode. Yes, it was very sweet and that was a TRUE moment of Sonamy. But- Nothing happened after that. They weren't together. Sonic loves Amy and cares about her alot..as a friend. Otherwise he would have made his move (He wasn't too shy to admit it to Sally, he did all he could to get her to love him; which worked) And to respond to your other comment, Sonic does save Sally all the time and tells her he loves her,look up Sonic SATAM shows

She wasn't created to make fans forget about Sally. She couldn't have. They debuted at nearly the same time.
Amy Rose was based on Sonic's girlfriend in the 1992 Shogakukan Sonic the Hedgehog manga.
Sally Acorn was simply Ricky(one of the small animals in StH1)'s dub name in 1991. It wasn't until 1993 that she re-designed to be Sonic's gf in SatAM.
Why are you acting as if Sally has been around so much longer? Didn't you at least look up the release dates before you made this rant?

I grew up with SatAM too and I like Sally/Sonally, but it's silly to blame Amy for it's lack of popularity these days(especially since she's been Sonic's love interest for just as long, if not a year longer)
Sonic/Sally is still canon and supported in the on-going Archie Comic Book series(where Amy, being a 10 year old in this version, is no threat to Sonsally at all) so what's the big deal?
Sally was created by SoA, so of course, SoJ leaves the character to her creators.

here's a thing, right now Sega of Japan are a complete douche towards the American audiences because they really hated the Sonic SatAM/Archies version of Sonic, accusing this BS about how Sally isn't a role model like Rouge and Amy, which I find it all fucked up...I don't have any problems with the characters, just the fans and the company itself. Infact, I'm neutral towards the Sonic community.

This may sound weird, but even Amy is hotter than Sally will ever be. Sally is a big whore and Amy's just normal. Besides, i used to have a crush on her when i was like 11 or 12.

The reson for not poting Sally in was b/c Sally is from Archies not Sega, and Amy was origanally made in another comic as Sonics Girlfriend... I don't know much but that so... ya

SATam was made in 1993, but amy was created in 1992 in the sonic the hedgehog manga, and in that amy was literally his girlfriend. Amy was actually made first in japan, but wasn't introduced anywhere else until sonic cd. plus the comics have always taken place in a different continuity, because it was the creator of SATam's idea for sally, not sega's, thats why sally, and other characters from that series, are not part of the game's continuity.

The release date of Sonic CD in Japan was only five days after the debut of SatAM in the U.S. It could be fairly assumed that neither development team knew of the other's new characters. You could just as easily complain about Sally replacing Amy... or better yet, Rotor replacing Tails.
And to say that Amy was forced down anybody's throat is just silly. Prior to the Adventure renovation, Amy was just an NPC for all of twenty seconds in SCD and a playable character in three games on one played.

Easy. The games are designed by Sega's Japanese branch. The cult following SatAM has in America doesn't exist overseas.
There is Bioware, but making SC:DB take place in Mobius would probably alienate more fans than it would interest, especially since it's going to be released in Europe, too.

Please understand, I like amy. I just think it's sorta strange how she was brought into the series when we all knew about Sal already..like i said, if theyd've introduced her together WITH sally in the games I wouldnt mind that. it just bothers me that they didnt even aknowlege sally at all in the games..yeah, she was licenced by DIC, but sega ok'd it, so that makes her every bit as offciail as amy.
