@marknpeyton i like the austin montego estate love it i need to get one before theres non left. and i refuse to buy a new crappy car i cant say nothing about the honda as they healped austin rover with gear boxes and other bits. nice car.
matthewsemple,Armstrong Siddeley haven't built a car for nearly 50 years. If I build a car and stick an Armstrong Siddeley badge on it,you think that means it is one?If you do,can I interest you in a van Gogh painting I did last week...
The Maestro and Montego kind of still exist as the Chinese owners of the car design and plant shipped in from the UK added the front of the latter to the back of the former... Maestros were also made in Roumania well into the 90's,got a mate with an immaculate one of these that he is keeping as an investment. I think the Maestro design is actually quite decent, even by 2009 standards!
Unless it's built in Coventry,it's got sod all to do with Triumph.Once these things are dead, they're dead.Putting a badge on a car means NOTHING,don't people understand that? All those blokes who worked together, the friendships, the life of the factory,is gone."New"Dolomite?"New"Stag?Don't make me laugh.
Austin Rover - Driving? No. Breaking down at its best.

Noel likes the Montego eh? Then that must be the explanation to his awful taste in shirts.

"And the magic of Metro now comes with 5 doors"
But only four gears.... Would a "new aerodynamic front" ever have sold a car to anyone?
postie2003 4 years ago
At least they admitted it was just a new front..
Remember the "all new" Morris Ital?
:o)

Ford had a similar problem with the Fiesta which could be purchased with 5 gears but until 1988/9, only three doors!

bring back triumph cars!
epicmj 4 years ago
You never know, that Chinky company might do it?
barspeed 4 years ago
the chinese bought the rights to all the brands that come with the rover/mg group like [morris and austin]
but not triumph.
and i have found out that a group in midlands and bmw have started using the name for a concept car
so i hope they bring back a modern triumph stag or a
dolomite, spitfire!!
epicmj 4 years ago
Oh well, will have to see, thing is a stag and a spit will compete against thier own range....more like a relaunch of sumit like a TR?
barspeed 4 years ago
yeah true!
the new triumph concept range is tr/e [coupe ]stag?
tr/c [saloon car 2door] dolomite? tr/x4 [small smart car] and a mini cab.
epicmj 4 years ago
Not so much Triumph, as New Triumph, without BMW intervention, phew!
