@huxypoo Howdy & thanks! I guess I should get in gear. Because of the T-33 footage I thought I'd add that and keep the Tigercat for later. I should work on a video with the Tigercat and possibly some jets but I'm really a WW-II warbird fan. I'm off to help work on a T-38 Talon for display at the Castle Air Museum so it will be at least a couple of weeks. Thanks for the gentle prod and blue skies to you.
@omepeet2006 There were three basic versions of Rolls-Royce V-12s for aircraft: Kestrel (1926 / 680hp-ish), Merlin (1933 / 1,500hp-ish, and Griffon (1939 / 2,300hp-ish). As more power could be applied to the propeller, more and larger blades were added -- I believe the hub ran out of room so another option was going to counter-rotating props. I've seen Spitfires with five bladed propellers.
All these large piston powered aircraft are really something to both see and hear.
@omepeet2006 Yep there were only a hand full of P 51's that have raced at Reno that have the Griffon engine with the contra rotating props. The one seen in this video is called Precious Metal. I am a crew member on that particular P 51. It had some issues during the pylon racing school but we got the pilot certified and the problems we had sorted out the day the seminar was over. Now we probably wont be gold race winner contenders but I suspect we will be in the gold race and finish top 5
When is the next vid going up?

Wait a sec...which F8F didn't make it? I know the Bear landed with overheat issues.

@huxypoo No, they were expecting a second Bearcat. No other information yet.

A Mustang with a contra-prop? That's new to me. S'pose it has a Griffon engine. Do you have any more info on that? Thanx.
