  • is gewoon dierenmishandeling!!

  • The one shall not shave the Chow - it is out of dog's breed standard, it's silly, the dog gets ugly and it's coat never recovers. Dog also will catch countless parasites and get skin infection. you can cut the hair a little, but never shave a Chow. And brush, brush and brush, if you want a healthy dog.

  • I shave my Chow/mix every now and then when his coat is beyond matted. We try to keep the brushing up but really, for any long haired dog, you're gonna run into problems like that. Especially since he's an outdoor dog.

  • Sorry but I don't agree with you.... Shaving you chow chow is the worst thing you can do to him....... Don't make the mistake of shaving his coat in summer only to make him brave the heat better.... I'm not saying you did that cuz the date is November.... Even so perhaps you don't know but a chow chows coat is specially designed to protect him from heat and cold. It's undercoat helps to insulate the skin. So if you did shave him it won't make him fell cooler and certainly cause skin problems
