@Kenmorfdublin not a chance. It's completely different to the version on the record, with plenty of rhythm and tone ad lib. There's no way she could completely match up the vocal part. The live version would also have to be of the highest quality to be played on the speakers.. Few are.
This performance from lisa is to this date the only performance i have time for and i must say still a very worthy contender for album of the year even now, i am slighty agitated at the quality of the upload to you tube i half expect the obvious lack of sound and picture quality which takes away from a soothing and not earth shattering moment. I really am pleased with some of the British & Irish schools for the introduction of this morning sound perhaps lisa was not pinching bums in assembly.
In defence of Jools -- he may not be everyone's cup of tea but he knows how to play, and he knows his time signatures - and one thing he definitely knows - the song is not 4/4 (a little clue: you have to be able to count four beats in the bar for it to be 4/4). As for Lisa, I can't think of a more charismatic performer.
@lecko0 This is a beautiful song regardless, so the debate seems a little unnecessary, but both of those time signatures are incorrect. This is an Additive Rhythm, where the eight beats are split into two lots of 3/4 and one of 2/4, which is what produces the unusual sense of timing.
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. It far eclipses the album version.
