However I got Blind Melon's greatest hits instead. Inside the cover I flipped through the pictures and saw the end of the letter on the booklet was June 13th 2005 the year before I cried and cried, I had just saw them on tv, however I knew it. I find myself returning to this song again and again......it strikes some chord deep in my own soul, especially when I watch the video. The passion Shannon shows in his hand gestures alone when he sings" ....I never got a chance to say goodbye.."...it makes my heart hurt, but the beauty will always remain.

If Shannon Hoon is idolized, it is because he wrote heartfelt and moving songs and sang with incredible passion. These songs inspired and gave hope to so many people. It's pretty close minded and shallow to merely classify him as a "drugged out idiot". Everyone has their demons, but we are so much more than that.

@RedSkyTree1 Beautifully said. We all have our demons, but we are all beautiful inside, pure and innocent. Shannon was my hero because of the passion he put into every song. I felt his sorrow, his happiness, his regret in the songs he wrote. I never even knew him but I miss him.

I love the songs for the memories, but for all the attention Shannon gets he was a drugged out idiot, and you can tell that he was non stop high if you watch any of his music vids or any live performances.

@cockmaster069 I'm not saying he wasn't a great musician, if I thought that I wouldn't be watching this video, I'm saying that the choices he made were dumb choices. It's humorous to me that people idolize him. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not going to listen to a song with Travis in it, but I could never see myself idolize Shanon, anymore than I saw myself turning dead head and following Jerry. The blind faith just seems undeserved to me.

blind melon was, is, and always will be amazing. my dad got me into them. they're truly inspiring, shannon was an incredible artist, and a terrible loss for the world. i would've loved to be able to see them live.

Several weeks before my sixteenth birthday, I had saw blind melon live on VH1 Classic. For weeks I talked and talked about Blind Melon, waiting and wanting to see them live. However I got Blind Melon's greatest hits instead. Inside the cover I flipped through the pictures and saw the end of the letter on the booklet was June 13th 2005 the year before I cried and cried, I had just saw them on tv, however I knew it. Then I read the pages and though they left it out. Shannon was fucking dead. ;(

I can remember 2 years from now when i started playing guitar i wanted to learn thsi song and wrote it down in my book, it is now 2 years later and i found the entry in my book and now im learning one of my favorite blind melon songs...=D
