Beksinski had what the vast majority of these pretentious hacks who call themselves artists lack: profoundly disturbing personal experience and a sense of the larger picture. One look at these and you know the painter didn't spend their formative years in Brooklyn.
When I look at its art, sure it looks chilling and horrifying but under it all there's incredible drawing surrealistic beauty. Like the fact there's hope that you eventually wake up from a nightmare. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only freakshow that thinks his post apocalyptic agonized art is hopeful.

@waddellski Maybe the artist wants you to be uncomfortable. Beksinski was once interviewed where he said his paintings were humorous to him. (mind you he was a jewish boy living in Warsaw during the holocaust) Either way you cannot deny his talent. His art is incredible, even if it is terrifying.
"...he was a jewish boy living in Warsaw during the holocaust" <-- this is untrue. He wasn't a Jewish boy and he was living in Sanok (a small town in Poland) during WWII.
very talented artist with very tragic life, his wife died, some time later his only son commited suicide, and Beksinski himself was murdered in his own apartment, sad...
having just discovered beks im blown away how freaked out his art is ,im shocked, a word ive never used in my life, how could i have missed this genius. oh and mr piss in my ass455, most interesting and informative comments, hats off to ya. good work joelam
Obrazy z "okresu fantastycznego " trzeba oglądać na żywo, zdjęcia nie oddają nawet w 1% ich klimatu, kolorów. Dla muzeum Beksińskiego warto odwiedzić Sanok.
@PissInMyAss455: ok, but then a bunch of dying monstrous whales, sinking in the depths of the oceans and growling their anger..
i still think espteric fits, at least for the darker paintings with all the limbs and bones and gravestones.. they're monstrous and creepy and not just melancholic like the radiohead-song (which btw I also like)
Zdzisaw's form is far too profound to suit with the intense nonsense that is esoteric. Yes his art is dark and sepulchral but it also displays a grotesque human nature that is true to the stroke. Maybe a painting of a murder would fit with esoteric, although when it comes to Zdzislaw the best music would be equally empty echoing notes that ring long and true to compliment the everlasting actuallities of the crude human psyche.
@SmoothHourglass Generally the result of sycophants attempting to feel equal in intelligence to an overtly vocal pseudo-intellect. Luckily, there are observant intrepid thinkers such as yourself who are capable of exposing hollow bullshit for what it is. Thanks for that. Nice to know YouTubers aren't all sheep.
@FallenKain and this is you, another fainthearted breather functioning on a shiner locomotion. you were then, and will respond with, a way that works out for yourself so that you can feel ok with the fact that nothing is known... as i have just done now. it is really better to just say nothing in these cases, yet here i am, funny.
@Adhoc91 No no, amigo, I'm perfectly comfortable with the fact that nothing is known. I do, however subscribe to Descartes' "Cogito ergo sum," so under that theorem, I do know at least that I exist, in one form or another. I'm not here to start pissing contests, and I'm sure you're a perfectly bright fellow, but honestly, the attempt at anapestic prose is both pretentious, and borderline nonsensical. You're right, generally, in the presence of morons, the best bet is to say nothing, however
@Adhoc91 however, if I'm honest with myself, and with you, there are certain occasions where it is just plain amusing. I have no desire to with fight anyone, but to be certain I am entitled to this right, and seeing as how on YouTube, no one really gives a shit, why not? Nothing is, nothing isn't, nothing matters. For the sake of the game we're playing, however, I do strongly suggest working on basic grammar. I know, everyone says it, but hey, it does make for a more pleasant read...
@FallenKain yes it can be amusing to play chess with yourself from time to time, i cannot argue that point. it is clear that there is a spot in all of us where another's grief and ire can be tossed to the sharks and recycled.
even before you indulge it always looks like a sound prospect to run with. all in all i can more agree with you over not (about my grammar too), and you yourself must be a bright one for you provoke more time from me than some youtube casuist halfwit might. lets enjoy art.

@FallenKain agreed. casuistry; its hard too escape but also abandon. it's not "right" but is it really wrong? perhaps a play thing for the intellect. thanks for the chat.
@Adhoc91 Fear not, little friend, I have no delusions of grandeur, no illusions of a greater purpose. I'm just here for a laugh and to treat my senses to some fantastic music, and inimitable artwork. ; )
@PissInMyAss455 Wow, sounds an awful lot to me like someone enjoys paraphrasing their art teacher's observations, while forgetting all of the relevant content. Nice try PissAss, but how 'bout leaving the 'smart talk' to the smart people, hmm? It's usually necessary to know what words mean before you can use them effectively. K pumpkin?
Beksinski actually insisted listening to classical music while he was painting and nothing else. He could not work without it. It was his muse, his force, the rhythm to which he created. A sporadic and short lived band that hinges on the short intense climaxes of a shredded solo with no theoretical value only takes away from the ordered chaos that Beksinski illustrates.
If you have a chance, check out Beksinski's official site, and check out the music. It's very Baroque, but very creepy. The composer made the soundtrack for a couple of movies, his name is Zbigniew Preisner. Also: Javier Navarrete who worked on Pan's Labyrinth.
Beksinski also liked rock music! Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Budgie, Batchman Turner Overdrive, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Barclay James Harvest, Marillion, old Genesis (but he didn't like typical prog rock bands), Ultravox and even This Mortal Coil. Funny fact: he didn't like lyrics. He never cared about the meaning of lyrics, he was more interested in the sound.
@MaxZorin8 I'm exactly the same. I never cared about the lyrics only the sound, until a friend of mine said he couldn't understand that. I've tried to pay more attention since ... LOL I can sing along to any of my favourite songs though. Weird huh :-)
Lots of people are curious to know how he manages to think of such things and paint them, well my theory is since he experienced the horrors of world war 2 in poland he got a glimpse of what might the world look like after the end. i believe the world war was his inspiration.

I think if I remember correctly, his son commited suicide, and a friend of his son asked him for money and he stabbed him to death. I think his wife died shortly after. It's scary how un nerving his end was, comparing his work, and he burned alot of his paintings he felt were too personal. It's sad that a lot of work will never be seen.
Great art. An alternative draft to Giger, but obviously much more influenced by reality. The only conclusion left is to fight against everyone who shows any aspect of fascism.
The well chosen music emphasizes the artist´s expression, amazing - thanks!
Non conoscevo questo artista. Grazie per il video. Bellissimo.
What went wrong with this video? The changes from painting to painting is abrupt and not as fluent, everything looks fast. What the hell.

This video goes straightly to my favorites.
Bless his work and his fate be a good one....
He dyed like a dog for what???
Why do people who deserve to live die....and those who deserve to die live with us...
We cannot stop certain things.

He's a genius.
His work is breath taking.
I never seen so much passion.

It's weird because his son's friend only asked for $100 back that Zdzislaw borrowed

Yeah, and he was terrified of dying painfully.

Great art. An alternative draft to Giger, but obviously much more influenced by reality. The only conclusion left is to fight against everyone who shows any aspect of fascism.
The well chosen music emphasizes the artist´s expression, amazing - thanks!

His wife died, then his son committed suicide shortly after.
And he himself was stabbed 17 times and left to die by the son of a long time acquaintance.

Non conoscevo questo artista. Grazie per il video. Bellissimo.
