  • It says Oldham at the top of Denshaw,Stanedge and Isle of Skye road, thats all you need to know.

  • Who cares where it is, the place is beautiful.

  • one. dovestones is not on the moor only Chew is ON the moor. Two, Saddleworth is not IN Oldham it is parish administered from Oldham. Three, most Oldham folk say they are in Lancashire. Four , Greater Manchester is dead and buried, a myth, a futile experiment. Five, Saddleworth parish bears the White rose. nuff said.

  • I guess you lot at saddleworth dont want to be tied in with oldham because its full of scrotes and scum? Tough shit you are Oldham you had better get used to it

  • Saddleworth is in the County of Yorkshire, although administered by Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council.

Oldham similarly is in the County of Lancashire, and shares with Saddleworth its administration by Oldham MBC.

53% of Oldham MB geographically is in the County of Yorkshire and 47% in the County of Lancashire.

    Fact - deal with it!

  • @DrDilbertVonRicker Before the boundaries changed but now your in Oldham, Greater Manchester.

    Fact - Deal with it!

  • @dannydxl1 The county boundaries have NOT changed, Saddleworth is in Yorkshire.

Oldham is one of the towns, that, along with Saddleworth, Chadderton, Failsworth, Royton, Crompton and Lees, make up the Administrative area named 'Oldham Metropolitan Borough'.

The choice of name for this administrative borough (formed in 1974) gives the impression that Saddleworth is in, or is part of, Oldham, but it isn't.

'Greater Manchester' was an administrative council that was dissolved in 1986.

  • @DrDilbertVonRicker Denial.

  • dads ashes r there

  • I'm a kid of Saddleworth, go to saddleworth school and i REALLY appreciate this video, love dovestones ect, walking up Indians Head is my very fun!

  • I live in Austerlands Saddleworth.

    Love the place the people,

I have traveled and lived around the world but where i am now is just smashing.

I can walk in to the best country side i have ever seen.Ive left the rest of the world behind and setteled for the WEST RIDINGS, WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO LIVE IN THE SHIRES...

  • The new county boundaries are solely for the purpose of defining areas of ....local government. They are administrative areas, and will not alter the traditional boundaries of Counties, nor is it intended that the loyalties of people living in them will change. [Government statement made on 1 April 1974 at the time of implementation of the LGA 1972].

  • R.I.P Oliver

    xxxx

  • No one in Saddleworth wants to be a part of Oldham. I've lived in Saddleworth my whole life, but having been born in Oldham and as such a Lancastrian (I don't recognise Gtr. Manchester) I don't want to be a Yorkie either. I HATE OLDHAM but can i really ally myself to the white rose? Oh the dilemma.

  • @smiffytf Totally agree, why would anybody want to be in Yorkshire?

  • i love this place

  • The postcode starts with OL! And it's Lancashire.....Dovestones comes under Greater Manchester, not Yorkshire! Check it out on Wikipedia, before challenging me.

  • Clearly you don't come from Saddleworth then or you would know!!!

  • Yes you are quite correct. The postal codes do begin with OL. But those are the postal areas. They have nothing to do with Saddleworth other than that! We could have HU postal codes. Yorkshire is split into Shires of which the West Riding is one of them. Saddleworth IS in the West Riding. The Shires have not been changed. The Natwest in Uppermill still has Yorkshire in its address and the Hare & Hounds has a banner, which proudly declares Saddleworth as part of the West Rididng.

  • and Saddleworth school has a white rose on it`s uniform also county end at Lees means just that. Saddleworth is, has been and always will be a part of Yorkshire.

  • Correct mate! I live in delpth and CANNOT abide these postcode snobs who think DE-NIAL is a river in Egypt. Oldham may be a toilet but FACTS are FACTS and you are right Matt.

  • Here, here!!! And it's Glorious Yorkshire (West Riding to be precise) NOT Lancashire!!!
