Wow! Thats quiet a collection. I do a lot 4x4 travel out in the Mojave desert and love to stop and check out the different cactus. They grow in clusters all along the Mojave Road. All different in different areas.
Germination can take 3 weeks to 6months+, depends on species.
Also many of the Barrel Cacti seen in nurseries can easily be 70yrs +
Generally Succulents are easier ,due to the use of cuttings ,rather than seed.,rooting can be days rather than weeks, if done in the growing season [may - august] in uk
@anarchygod13 Thanks for comment, have grown Cacti for over 50yrs, these are the last ones. [last of 4.000 plants] In uk, they thrive on neglect, the Cacti are watered April - October. once per week, November --- March, nil by mouth, Feed 3 Times per Season. and Spray against Pests Twicw per season, Disease is rare in UK. Regards ian [growing from seed is fraught with problems, but good fun, as most but not all are slow growing, start with plants.]
