This is ridiculous, blacks against blacks! Yes I too experience the same ridicule by African Americans when I came to this country in 1973, I was beaten up everyday by my baby sitter son who was a few years older than me. I would walk to school with him everyday and I was abused by him and his crew and for what? Because I was from a different culture.
The experience didn't make me bitter though, it helped me to understand the dynamics of my experience and how it related to the bigger picture. I actually heard about black americans not being so thrilled about carribean people coming here b/c they take advantege of the opportunities that this country offers. Remember I am from here (the u.s). For instance, you can walk by a group of people and the black people that don't know you would have negative comments to make, where as everyone else wouldn't say a word.

I was born in Jamaica and raise in America from a very young age. I am very thankful for all my experiences and feel blessed to have experience both worlds. Many Carribean people are just as guilty of this inbread hatred towards other Blacks. American Blacks felt that west indian Blacks felt superior and was in many cases were treated better by Whites. In many ways that was true. We as Carribeans must remember that the Black Americans were the ones who gave their lives so we can be in America.
Maybe ,if I was Born in America, I would feel the same way too. After my friends began to love and understand me, we were able to unite in peace. The bottom line is this, "the American Black legacy". We do need to respect their struggles. Would they be able to come to our country and take over? Many Carribean people have united in the struggles of the Black Americans and they are aware of this. I actually heard about black americans not being so thrilled about carribean people coming here b/c they take advantege of the opportunities that this country offers. Remember I am from here (the u.s). The influx of immigrants from Africa and the Caribbean is part of a strategy of social engineering, by the US gov't, to dilute and undermine true black solidarity. I was born in Jamaica and raise in America from a very young age. I am very thankful for all my experiences and feel blessed to have experience both worlds. Many Carribean people are just as guilty of this inbread hatred towards other Blacks. American Blacks felt that west indian Blacks felt superior and was in many cases were treated better by Whites. In many ways that was true. We as Carribeans must remember that the Black Americans were the ones who gave their lives so we can be in America.
