This band stirred things up a bit in the Northeast portion of the USA with all the rumors swirling around that they were the Beatles recording anonymously. It was particularly intriguing since their first album didn't list any personel info. Additionally, they were on Capitol records. The band I was in at the time Sir Army Suit (their 3rd album) was released covered this song. It was a fun song to play. I agree with Timothy that "Hope" was indeed their best album overall ... solid throughout.
What I love about this song? All the other strange and interesting songs that was on it. Once I play it... OK..."I've figured them out...right?" This is what they say...
Klaatu is like this...
Then, they go what???
Ok... "Routine Day, Juicy Lucy, Everybody Took A Holiday..." They, think it's all figured out... I just wait for this song... then, there mouths drop!!!
This band was catchy as hell for 3 albums. But alas, the records exec's got to them and wanted/needed hits so the music went to shit after Sir Army Suit. Too bad-a very good band.
This band fucking RULED! I got into them when their first album came out. I got caught up in the whole "Are Klaatu The Beatles?" hoopla. Of course they were not. I'm glad. No offense, I love The Beatles, but Klaatu were great all on their own. I like the "Hope" album best. A total masterpiece. This group had serious talent. Composing, playing, singing, arrangements, production. They had it all. Why were they not HUGE? I so wish there was some live video of them. ANY video would be nice!
every one seems to compare Klaatu to someone. Where do you hear Floyd? If I look I can hear Johny Cash in Floyd. Would that be Floyd"s Johny cash's moment? The fucki8ng band IS Klaatu !!!!Accept it!!!
Older, Madman, Anus of Uranus, Dogstar, "Hope- the whole album almost", Mister Manson - some of the best riffs ever played and most of the rest of Klaatu gives me soulgasms - incredible band to say the least.
This band makes me feel proud to be Canadian. I used to own this album on the original vinyl until recently. Thanks for posting it.
