I think that's because Gaga started a career in this generation of Internet and Youtube, whereas Ray Charles (or the Beatles) has been listenned in a past generation, when there were no Internet. What's more Lady Gaga has pop video to have her songs promoted, and when there is a video, at once there is views.

But I'm sure that we'll still remember Ray Charles when Lady Gaga will be forgotten. ;)
