Issus was the decisive victory. The majority of Darius's elite were destroyed there and at Guagamela, as sexy as the victory seems to us because he was so heavily outnumbered, Alexander was figthing the remnants, the scrapings of the barrel. Mr kojPRVpocna,what group,in this era,would you affiliate macedonia with if not greece?....what impact would the thracian,or illyrian cultures have on the persians?...none.There would be no great cities like alexandria etc.The greek culture made those cities what they are....Alexander the barbarian ! I understand your anger if you feel you've been robbed of your heritage. Macedonia clearly thought of themselves as greek....and after alexanders success,the greeks didn't mind.

What a great series. TNX a lot. What amazes me the most is the vast amount of territory covered and this series does a good job of subtlely and indirectly showing that. Truly I can now see the "Great" in Alexander the Great.
