I don't know why. The first time i uploeded this, it was in stereo sound, now it's mono sounding. Many of my uploads are so, has somebody an idea, why it is so?
This is the recording fo DGG/Schneiderhan/BPO/Jochum, i've got the original record from the early 60s, belive me, this is a recording from this vinyl record.
I have it CD. Good stuff. Is third on my Violin Concerto List. Anne-Soffie Mütter is Number 1 and Itzahk Perlmann is second. Mütter is also great because of Von Karajan's impeccable conduction.
The stars were in alignment for this recording. You can't go wrong with Jochum/Schneiderhan/Berlin Philharmonic and DG engineering! This is my favorite recording of the Beethoven violin concerto.
Heifetz' recording evokes much stronger and deeper emotions from me than Schneiderhan. I often choke listening to just hisfirst few phrases. However, compared to Grumiaux's drollness this recording is quite amazing.
This is one of the greatest recordings of this amazing work, which I love so much. I also have a great fondness for Grumiaux's first recording with Van Beinum, and Milstein/Steinberg has its appeals, as well as Francescatti/Walter, Szigeti/Walter, and Menuhin/Furtwangler Lucerne. None of those has orchestral playing quite up to this level, or Schneiderhan's uniquely personal way with the score.
I absolutely agree - Schneiderhan's Beethoven is by far the very greatest. It is the second violin concerto I bought in 1960 (the first was Menuhin's Mendelsohn's). Schneiderhan's performance here is positively flawless.
Yes, i totally agree. Schneiderhan did the most emotionally performance and negate his own ego. The recording is absolutely brillant and Jochum gives the best possible accompaniment to Schneiderhans playing.
Ah, Schneiderhan with Jochum & the BPO. With regards to the first poster's comments - I agree wholedheartedly - this is *the* performance to own.
I own the Milstein, Krebbers and Grumiaux versions of the Beethoven VC, and while all are special in one way or another, I still reach for the Schneiderhan as my "first choice".

I would love Schneiderhan's Mozart K218 & K219 - if anyone has a copy to post.

Mutter is also a good version, but no doubt, the best one is Schneiderhan's
