Why do I never see any mention of the Irish Civil War (1922-23) in these comments when Irishman mudered Irishman and did deeds as horrific as the English did. And to think the English media complained about anti-english bias in the film "the wind that shook the barley" when the real indictment was against Ireland as it proved the poits I made above, and also showed the anti protestant bias of catholics in the film. Republicans interest in the North is the LAND not the PEOPLE, so NO SURRENDER

Sandyrow, the Irish Civil War was vicious as the 26 county independence war, yes. But I'll tell you one thing - I have no hatred or grievance with Protestants in Ireland: never have, never will. I stand with my Protestant brothers and sisters on that. The Catholic Church and religion should play no role in this. But remarking 'no surrender' in the sense of imperialism or colonialism of the 6 counties I'm against you for. For you being Protestant - I'm with you all the way.

@bmcgirr914 We will get a United Ireland Unity by the vote mate.Anyone who think otherwise is lying. The armed struggle is over.I have supported the Provisionals from the early 80s and im telling you that any
other so-called ira splinter groups can never get any further than the Provos /Sinn Fein have got us so far.Any so-called republican that fires a shot at anyone is a traitor to the cause. The armed struggle is over But the Fight for Unity goes on!!..United 32..TIOCFAIDH AR LA!!!
@paul6j7o anyone who supports the provos and calls anyone who kills members of the security forces traitors are hypocrites, you all seem to be forgetting that the provos were once on the receiving end of the same statements during their campaign. Anyone who shows support for the occupied six are traitors to the cause.
@paul6j7o Are you trying to say Sunningdale is the best we can fucking hope for? We could have had that the first time in 1974! Also the Provos rejected the failed agreement the frist time probably because neither of those Stcky bastards Adams or McGuinness had the balls to stand up to MacStiofan.
no the bastards that shot Mick Collins abandoned the north, he set up the free state, he was organizing the units in the North to take the six counties and those anti-treaty fuckers shot him and fucked their whole country
wrong...the republicans(anti-treatyites) fucked no country..all they wanted was a united ireland.. collins in a way deserved his execution because he gave into the brits and gave them the north.. if it wasnt for him another man couldve came alon and won back a 100% united ireland !
This song is about west brits, free staters and traitors which ever you like . North and South are infested with traitors but we as republicans will keep true to the 32 Irish Republic
A large number of men fought from the south , you cant paint us all with one brush , And i can ashure you if fine gael where in power they would be kissing brits ass , Tho Jack lynch is the biggest sell out of them all
The IRA are the legimate army of the all-island Irish Republic as proclaimed by the Irish people. Hence why the IRA only agreed to decommission in exchange for the British army decommissioning their military presence in the north. The IRA are the legitimate Irish army and were facing the British army. And the British government, if you read the Belfast Agreement, recognised that.
The PIRA = The People's army of the 32-county Irish Republic.
RIRA and CIRA both have more legitimacy to be recognied as the Republic's Army. Both are still repudiating the Free State and Northern Ireland with armed action against pro GFA terrorists. Also Reals have never vacillated in their loyalty to the First Dail while with the Contos its the same case only with the Second Dail.
mfc your a fucking bloody tool ye daft eejit.....IRA+Germany=good friends. and what the fuck does nazis have to do with this?
hah you know eventhough they killed the jews, at least they had honesty decency, and were for their people....something that the dirty orange fuckers will never know nor have.
so please think before u utter such a daft comment such as that...and
A great song about how the main part of Freestaters left their brothers in the north to fend for themselfs! It shall never be forgotten! Free Derry, United Ireland!!! Tiocfaidh Ár Lá
Republicans may disagree on certain aspects, but we can never be seperated as a cause. We all beleive in the same goal. We will never be like loyalist terror groups, killing each other for drug money.
We have many beliefs but one cause; one people, united Republicans and Nationalists.
Geezer, explain to me why the people of the 26-counties offer so little support. Why doesn't the 'republican' party in the south support the republican in the north?
Because "Anglo Irish" relations are good ie the 26 county Free State does not want to piss off their friends in Britain. They would rather abandon their fellow nationals and make money than fight for their country.
I agree; that was the point of my previous post. The Irish in the six occupied counties must feel totally abandoned. But it is also time for republicans in the 26 counties to abandon the so-called republican Fianna Fail.
Oh right I thought you were asking a question. The time to abandon Fianna Fail was long ago. Geezer may not be able to explain it but they may like living up the Free State stereotype.
The North has FIGHT we fought and we fought what about the south of ireland? We needed the south were the FUCK did you boys go to? UP TO NORTH to fight? we could have had it so close! if we had use boys from the south fully committed!!! Not talking with us but together as one! We would have had it! UNITED IRELAND? Why did we not get one? ANS SOUTH of Ireland.
in 1977 gerry adams and brian keenan agreed that the north command (ira in ulster) including border counties cavan, louth and donegal should fight while south command should focus on fund raising and arms deals, i think it was a bad move.
Im from "the freestate" and know plenty of people who are too and none of us are traitors. Alot of people stood infront of the guards from the freestate during the love ulster march. We are loyal republicans from the freestate. after p-ira/psf agreed to decommission we were all fucked. In a way they had to decommission even america put them on the terrorist watch list. There is cira rira etc and even irla & inla but none of them as one or together are ready to take on the british empire.
If you pledge allegiance to Mr Cowen you are a traitor. If you lot had not kept signing treaties, the provos would not have had to decommission and if the Free State or America for that matter had the balls to stand up to Britain maybe independance would be near. RIRA
I never signed any treaty, and i am no supporter of Fianna Fail either there a pack of wankers. Take a look at my blog. google eire national foundation and we,l pop up on myspace and you can read our blog. and if you think rira is a strong opponent for the crown forces i hate to disagree but there not i am a supporter of all republicans
Edzzy, I am no great SF supporter, I disagree with many things they have done. However the Provos are heroes, had it not been for them, we would still be second class citizens and far futher away from a United Ireland than we are today.
CIRA? Who exactly have the CIRA taken a war too? A JJB shop? 'We fought them to a standstill, you haven't even fought them to a start'.
Ireland is together and united we will be! but the truth is some of you freestaters should be ashamed that you let the Derry and Belfast boys figth for freedom alone! Tiocfáid Ár Lá
Take it down from the Mast is a disgraceful song, playing into the hands of the Brits. My grandfathers fought on opposite sides in Civil War and would never talk about it. We should never turn on each other. WHO NEEDS PAISLEY IF WE DO THAT. STAY UNITED.
I agree, Collins wasn't the worst. He done well in the wars of independance and served superbly in 1916. But he signed away 6 counties, and swore an oath to the King of England, no matter the circumstances, this isn't defendable for a 'Republican'. For instance, can you imagine MP Bobby Sands, Wolfe Tone or James Connolly, swearing any oath to the crown ?
Of course the free state defeated the IRA, they had better weapons and suchlike. Most of the North was pro Collins yes, but the difference wasn't between north men and south men, it was between Republicans/Socialists (i.e Frank Ryan) and 'Nationalists'(i.e Eoin O'Duffy). It was more about what was right, and principal rather than conflict, so the areas where the volunteers and free staters came from would always be different.
The above is EXACTLY what came about. Padraig Pearse and the rest of the brave men who signed the treaty signed, for FULL Irish independance, nothing like Collins accepted. They gave blood for a free Ireland - not for partition, not for any surrender - like what was agreed.
Collins and O'Duffys likes were sellouts. The IRA continued it's fight for Irish freedom, and Collins and co hung them. Shame on them.
The free staters signed the treety as it was the best we could get. Collins brought the Brits to their knees and he knew he would not be able to get and 26 counties were free and one day the 6 counties will re unite
Oh well let me ask you something then. Why did Valera not go over to Britain? Why Did he send Collins to do his dirty work. He was the President was he not. He knew that at that time Britain would never give full Independacne to Ireland. Not a chance. It was the best they could ever hope for. Collins described it as the stepping stone to the ultimate freedom. He was never going to except it as the Ultimate freedom. He done his best for Ireland.
Part 4. Although with all I have said I have to say I see both sides of the Arguemnt . I support the Free staters more. But I see the Irregulars Point as well.
"If you remove the English Army tomorrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin Castle. Unless you set about the organization of the Socialist Republic your efforts will be in vain. England will still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole array of commercial and individualist institutions she has planted in this country"
Part 2 He avoided a war with Britain that would have obliterated us. And maybe they were bluffing but who knows? He was not taking a chance. He never wanted to act against the Irregulars anyway. He left them occupying buildings for ages. Finally he was told if he did not act then the Brits would act. What could he have done. He reasoned with them time and time again but they would not Give in. He took Weapons from the brits becasue he had no chocie.

Also the Provos rejected the failed agreement the frist time probably because neither of those Stcky bastards Adams or McGuinness had the balls to stand up to MacStiofan.

a very powerful song about how the bigger part of the freestate abandoned their brothers in the north! It shall never be forgotten!
LosSanPatrios 3 years ago 3
no the bastards that shot Mick Collins abandoned the north, he set up the free state, he was organizing the units in the North to take the six counties and those anti-treaty fuckers shot him and fucked their whole country
rifleman1122 3 years ago
wrong...the republicans(anti-treatyites) fucked no country..all they wanted was a united ireland.. collins in a way deserved his execution because he gave into the brits and gave them the north.. if it wasnt for him another man couldve came alon and won back a 100% united ireland !

The PIRA = The People's army of the 32-county Irish Republic.
irishgeezer1 3 years ago 2
RIRA and CIRA both have more legitimacy to be recognied as the Republic's Army. Both are still repudiating the Free State and Northern Ireland with armed action against pro GFA terrorists. Also Reals have never vacillated in their loyalty to the First Dail while with the Contos its the same case only with the Second Dail.

Republicans may disagree on certain aspects, but we can never be seperated as a cause. We all beleive in the same goal. We will never be like loyalist terror groups, killing each other for drug money.
We have many beliefs but one cause; one people, united Republicans and Nationalists.
irishgeezer1 3 years ago 3
Geezer, explain to me why the people of the 26-counties offer so little support. Why doesn't the 'republican' party in the south support the republican in the north?
benedick47 3 years ago
Because "Anglo Irish" relations are good ie the 26 county Free State does not want to piss off their friends in Britain. They would rather abandon their fellow nationals and make money than fight for their country.
Bepold 3 years ago
I agree; that was the point of my previous post. The Irish in the six occupied counties must feel totally abandoned. But it is also time for republicans in the 26 counties to abandon the so-called republican Fianna Fail.
benedick47 3 years ago
Oh right I thought you were asking a question. The time to abandon Fianna Fail was long ago. Geezer may not be able to explain it but they may like living up the Free State stereotype.

in 1977 gerry adams and brian keenan agreed that the north command (ira in ulster) including border counties cavan, louth and donegal should fight while south command should focus on fund raising and arms deals, i think it was a bad move.

This is an old song before the Republican state, during the civil war when the queen was still the head of state i think?
angusmac86 3 years ago
If you pledge allegiance to Mr Cowen you are a traitor. If you lot had not kept signing treaties, the provos would not have had to decommission and if the Free State or America for that matter had the balls to stand up to Britain maybe independance would be near. RIRA

We've had a sensible debate on the civil war and heard both sides opinions, why is their a need to personally have a go at fellow Irishmen ?
TÁL
1916Paddy1981 5 years ago
I agree, Collins wasn't the worst. He done well in the wars of independance and served superbly in 1916. But he signed away 6 counties, and swore an oath to the King of England, no matter the circumstances, this isn't defendable for a 'Republican'. For instance, can you imagine MP Bobby Sands, Wolfe Tone or James Connolly, swearing any oath to the crown ?
1916Paddy1981 5 years ago
Of course the free state defeated the IRA, they had better weapons and suchlike. Most of the North was pro Collins yes, but the difference wasn't between north men and south men, it was between Republicans/Socialists (i.e Frank Ryan) and 'Nationalists'(i.e Eoin O'Duffy). It was more about what was right, and principal rather than conflict, so the areas where the volunteers and free staters came from would always be different.
1916Paddy1981 5 years ago
I am no great fan of De Valera. Not at all. I agree that he knew exactly what he was doing when sending Collins.
1916Paddy1981 5 years ago
The above is EXACTLY what came about. Padraig Pearse and the rest of the brave men who signed the treaty signed, for FULL Irish independance, nothing like Collins accepted. They gave blood for a free Ireland - not for partition, not for any surrender - like what was agreed.
Collins and O'Duffys likes were sellouts. The IRA continued it's fight for Irish freedom, and Collins and co hung them. Shame on them.

what gives you the right to criticise one of our nations greatest leaders..when you single handedly beat a world powere you can judge

The free staters signed the treety as it was the best we could get. Collins brought the Brits to their knees and he knew he would not be able to get and 26 counties were free and one day the 6 counties will re unite
TIOCFIADH ÁR LÁ
IrishDaragh 5 years ago
Oh well let me ask you something then. Why did Valera not go over to Britain? Why Did he send Collins to do his dirty work. He was the President was he not. He knew that at that time Britain would never give full Independacne to Ireland. Not a chance. It was the best they could ever hope for. Collins described it as the stepping stone to the ultimate freedom. He was never going to except it as the Ultimate freedom. He done his best for Ireland.
darrin42 5 years ago
Part 4. Although with all I have said I have to say I see both sides of the Arguemnt . I support the Free staters more. But I see the Irregulars Point as well.
darrin42 5 years ago
Not true. To quote James Connolly -
"If you remove the English Army tomorrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin Castle. Unless you set about the organization of the Socialist Republic your efforts will be in vain. England will still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole array of commercial and individualist institutions she has planted in this country"
1916Paddy1981 5 years ago
Part 2 He avoided a war with Britain that would have obliterated us. And maybe they were bluffing but who knows? He was not taking a chance. He never wanted to act against the Irregulars anyway. He left them occupying buildings for ages. Finally he was told if he did not act then the Brits would act. What could he have done. He reasoned with them time and time again but they would not Give in. He took Weapons from the brits becasue he had no chocie.
