  • what ride is this? Paiste 2002 something or other?

  • man i know it's hard but if hear carefuly, this song has the foot hi hat when playing the ride cymbal. i was messing around my kit and i foud that it's even harder to play with the hi hit pattern, you should practice it, you will be able to play it for sure

  • What type of ride is that?

  • @8sasquatch8 looks like a paiste "reverend big al" to me, its an alex van halen signature ride. in my opinion, dont bother, its a monster at 24", if you can find one and afford it, look for a nicko mcbrain paiste "powerslave" signature ride, amazing with a great bell. or a paiste sewart copeland signature ride. good luck,

  • This is what makes people wanna learn how-to play. Thanks for sharing.

  • Great playing How did you record the sound?

  • holy crap that was amazing

  • That was Just amazing....Excellent playing my freind

  • damn

  • ok i typed in Best porn ever in youtube and this came ...

  • Stop bro! Your not Neil

  • Wait a minute... Are you Neal Peart?

  • lol look at that little teeny tiny cymbal on the right...

  • @thefrijole15 theres 2 on e to the right one the ride and one on the ride blending in

  • nice hat fag.

  • That song is so physically demanding it's not even funny.

    Try it sometime.

I know many that fall apart nearing the end of this song .

    Great Job RAY.

Anyone with a negative thing to say, needs to have their ears examined.

  • Dude, loose the stupid hat. You're not Neil Peart. And tune your drums, they sound awful. Other than that, good playing.

  • @freedetheman These are actually some of the best sounding drums I have ever heard. It's all preference, so don't bash on another persons sound

  • The window unit in the background looks shooped.

  • great sounding drums

  • gold hardware on the snare much?

  • Nice work buddy....you nailed it

  • Nice work buddy.....you nailed it

  • Ray Harber playling a cover to Tom Sawyer?? BRILLIANT

  • very nice played, nice ghostnoting on the snare!

  • what is the little drum next to your smallest tom, what company, thanks

  • @drex48239 I'm 99% sure it's a DW Piccolo Tom.

  • very very gooood man!!!It is a pleasure to watch your videos!!!Congratulations...

  • which ride do you use in this video??

  • do you take off all the logos are your cymbals?

  • tune your snare man !

  • anyone else think its kinda gay hes wearing the neil peart hat? :P

  • Awesome, ..!!! I play bass, and I would play with you anytime. You are very tight..!!!

Keep it going, and good luck with future songs.

  • Still prefer your "black sox" version but this one is awesome too and the cans sound great.

  • when neil peart's too old to drum he's gonna go to your house asking you to replace him in Rush.

then again, neil peart lives forever : /

  • Great cover!

  • this is my favorite rush song! great job!

  • what snare and cymbals are you using? great cover!

  • All he needs is a baby killer and he is set

  • that cimbol in the middle is a fuckin beast

  • this song is so cool to play!!! FUN

  • O MY GOOD

aaa baby cymbal right there! XD

  • i just did triplet didle in 90 beats a second on a metronome and perfect

  • what kind of pro marks do you use?

  • also im a fan of the cymbals

  • well im sure he doesnt have it doesnt exactly perfectly, neil peart was a master of ghost notes after all, if u know what that is. and also, all the pro drummers you know about in big bands are more on time than metronomes.

  • my cousin won $25,000 dollars and he bought a drumset and got lessons and could play this within 6 months. idk if thats good but i think it is

  • If he truly can play this...well he's a genius (the whole song I mean). If it's just the chorus/main riffs patterns well it's very good in 6 monts. If he can't really...well... it's quite normal...

  • @Alucardcounter44 does that mean im a genius? i started playing drum set in october, and could play this song in February...

  • Playing along the song is not so hard. After all it's not so hard to follow. But playing Nail's drums part is really somethnig else. I guess you're still not making the différence but hey still not bad to follow Rush. If you can really play this song after one year of drumming I want to see ;).

  • lets see then, post a vid of u playin this

  • what heads r u using?

  • @rudiiwii there the stock heads that came with the dw kit

  • finally! a cover on youtube where the guy does the entire song note for note! you just made my "awesome list" :3

  • man im a 17 drummer and i hope i can play like that one day hopefully soon

  • Noice!

  • This is so amazing. Really great playing.

  • are u the one who posted your kit on creigslist

  • No..

  • so if i bought the little hat thing neal wears..

i will become him, like this guy?

  • Maybe so "Turtle Boy" lol...It's N-E-I-L btw Get it right.

  • Your interpretation was Brilliant !

  • Thank you!

  • what drum heads are those? Great playing!

  • DW stock Remo heads

  • Comment removed

  • excellent cover! I can't even get it that close.

  • wow...impressive! I like watching these types of videos and seeing how different we all set up our kits, and how we all have a preference on snare sounds. You are one hell of a drummer bro!

  • would you happen to be using the Rush Snakes a Arrows sticks lol, cus my friend got them at a concert and thats what they look like

  • Dude needs a Gibraltar rack ....must take a day to set that kit up at a gig. Awesome work man...love the accuracy...

  • kit=amazing soundingg

  • oh shit wait i thought this was neil pert untill i saw the comments damn ur good

  • Dude!!! Ur on it... love good stickin'. U made Neil proud

  • You rock man. nice follow. Brings back memories. Rock on....

  • The new Neil Peart

    Nice!

    5*

  • Awesome cover, very impressive! Was going to ask, what's with the "Ok I think that was 30 seconds!" on the beginning? I've noticed Martin Periard leaves 30secs on the beginning of his covers too, anyone know why?

  • Hey Thanks for the compliment...The 30 seconds is to avoid the copyright bots...It really doesn't work though, it just delays them for a while.

  • very good !

  • Great job ! A very valiant effort...

I say Rush a couple years ago and Neil still plays with the rhythm , technique and feel exactly like 25 years ago . It's crazy !

  • nice

  • Fantastic playing, sir.

  • is dat the same snare neil peart uses

  • seems you are a great man.. luck with the drums and thanks for all!! you have helped me with many questions about Neils Peart drumming.. he is amazing just like you!!! great drums... they sound wonderful.. your ride is just amazing!!! well.. I have no words left.. LUCK!!

  • this was pretty sweet but...

i have to say i liked

your first video better. still awesome though

    5*

  • NOW I'M IMPRESSED! SWEET!

  • damn iv seen a 4 peice version of ur kit and it was around 2,000, i couldnt image how expensive that sob is lol

  • My god...

Absolutely outstanding playing on an absolutely gorgeous kit with absolutely beautiful cymbals.

    Excellent job.

  • man, your videos are great, so is your performance!.

but, maybe you could try improve the audio? perhaps geting some mics and record it with something?? it would be awesome to hear your kit with a better sound.

  • the finish on your drumkit - might tht be black to natural to black?

  • Yep, it's called "natural to ebony burst"

  • I think we've got ourselves Mr. Neil Peart Jr.!! You rock man! :)

  • If i didnt know better id say you were neil peart!

    Flawless bro!

  • man you are amazing how many years have you been playing?

  • Thanks man! 29 years.

  • this kit looks good in the neil peart set up

  • ATTN: My YouTube friends my 22" DW front bass drum head is for sale on eBay! (I just got a black one) check it out, it has a "Holz" hole reinforcement ring installed! my eBay username is ray2112 (not rays2112)

  • nice!

  • dude you are incredibly slick when you play the parts at 0:38 and 0:42. nice job i could ever get both my legs to move in opposite directions up and down while still playing flawlessly. great job dude. dont ever quit.

  • Hey Ray i would like to know what that very small below and to the right of your ride is, it looks to small to be a splash is it a cymbal disc?

  • it's a ZIldjian Crotale note "G" The same thing you hear at the beginning of YYZ (forgive me if you already knew what a crotale was) Thanks!

  • i noticed that i was wondering if you could do a re-recording of YYZ and use that at the beginning. instead of just starting after that. i think that would be cool and you would be an even awesomer drummer if you did do it.

  • uh...yeah....sure...okayl...lol

  • loved it. as always your the best, i read your comments everytime, all of them and i have to tell you ray, people love you! even the people you disagree with or could be irate with, you treat them with gentleness and respect and are so humble. i agree with the ones who say you need to be on the road. some band out there badly needs you! i am and will remain a big fan!! neli250

  • that is a zexy kit

  • Gotta love Paiste's. I have the 2002 series myself (14 inch sound edge hihats, 16 and 17 crash, 20 inch ride, and 10 inch wild splash)

  • your toms are overpowering your bass drum

  • Yeah, If I was getting paid for this I would mic them, buy a mixer...etc. But, your right, yeah.

  • Man you deserve to be going to parties every night man! Give this youtube stuff up and go get famous, get in a band and live the life!

  • Thanks man, "anything can happen" :)

  • do u have mike portnoy sticks?

  • No, I'm a Portnoy fan though.

    I have Peartnoy sticks lol

  • You rock man, I love it!!!!!

  • sick drumming as usual man Go get famous with a band now man ur better then youtube!

  • Thanks man, I appreciate that.

  • Agree. I can't stop watching your videos, there jus too good.

  • nice job man, are you switching to paiste cymbals now. I see that the paragons are deminishing

  • Yes I am...for the most part, I will have a combination of Paistes and Paragons. My Hi-hat, splashes, and Chinas will still be Paragons

    Thanks!

  • epic

  • are you switchin over to paiste?

  • Yes I am...for the most part, I will have a combination of Paistes and Paragons. My Hi-hat, splashes, and Chinas will still be Paragons

    Thanks!

  • Amazing, thanks for listening to our request. I'm saving this great video right away!

Thank you Ray, you've made my day.

  • Oh, Thank you! Comments like yours make my day!

  • i really like the paiste crash on the right side

  • Thank you, so do I!

  • thx for re-posting, ray. great angles, both the camera's and the posting trick. lol best teacher on youtube

  • Well, as always, AWESOME COVER! Did you turn your hi-hat stand into a 3 leg?

  • Would you suggest putting those DW heads on a ludwig drum set?

  • Yeah, I actually order them when they wear out. (in other words those arent the original heads that came with the set)

  • Better than Neil pert

  • No, but thanks for watching.

  • what do you mean by "one take"?

  • that means he did it in one try

  • no shit, I am calling out bullshit on this one. Like this guy never sat there and practiced the shit out of this song, I don't believe his "one take" arrogance. The comment was meant for rays2112.

  • You are an idiot. He got it in one take doesn't mean he totally winged it, it just means that he didn't mess up and have to start another recording. He got a good recording on the first try. Get your stuff strait before you "call out" anyone.

  • Thanks man, yeah I thought it pretty obvious what I meant! lol

  • this guy has been playin Niel pert for years.... I doubt he really needs to practise the shit out of the song any more.. i bet this guy can play it on request perfect pretty much every time..

  • cool video man keep it up !

  • nice

  • every things better in hd :D
