Actually I don't know why Minecraft is so popular (not saying its a bad game), I have revised the entire Minecraft Source Code and I do not find it that impressive at all. Maybe a little on how they used Perlin Noise to generate the random 3D terrain, but overall, I think it's lacking the gameplay ~.~.
